Metrics Usage

Last Updated: May. 04, 2024

Discover your current metric usage and data trends effectively by exploring Metrics Usage. You can access this feature through the Coralogix app or retrieve the data via the Metrics Cardinality API.

Overview

Metrics Usage enables you to:

  • Visualize your estimated usage
  • Quickly identify the most resource-intensive metrics
  • Evaluate the impact of code changes on your usage in near real-time

Types of usage

Coralogix provides real-time estimates of your metric usage, categorized by metric name, label name, label-value pair, and label value count by label name. Data is presented with the top 1,000 heaviest metrics sorted by permutations in descending order.

Investigate data quota consumption

View usage by metric name per series count, bytes, or units to fully understand daily quota consumption. Note that bytes and unit calculations are approximate and may not always align perfectly with Data Usage. On average, there is a variance between estimated and billable usage. The margin of error tends to be larger for smaller usage volumes due to the nature of the estimations.

Explore metrics usage

To access Metrics Usage, navigate to Settings > Metrics Usage from the team icon in your Coralogix account.

Utilize the search bar to find specific metrics or labels of interest, and adjust the time frame to analyze usage data for a particular day in UTC.

Series count refers to the number of metric permutations. The % of Used Series column represents each metric’s percentage against the total permutations.

The 7-Day Avg column represents each metric’s percentage against the weekly average of total permutations.
