WEEKLY UPDATE:  June 27 - July 12, 2024

WEST CAMPUS

DATA SCIENCE AND COMPUTATION COMPLEX:

  • Deliveries from 6am to 9am will increase traffic on Jane Stanford Way. Please obey flag persons.
  • Expect increased traffic on Lomita Drive due to deliveries and debris removal.
  • Hot rubber asphalt waterproofing at the northwest and southwest areas of the site will be smelly.
  • East stair work will involve heavy machinery and increase truck traffic. 


THE OVAL:

  • Striping work at the Oval will take place over the next two weekends, 6/29, 6/30, 7/6 and 7/7, from 7am to 3pm. 
  • Buses and other vehicles will be granted limited access and parking, please follow posted signage.


JANE STANFORD WAY - NIGHT WORK:

  • Installation of chilled water continues on Jane Stanford Way, between North-South Axis Rd and Via Ortega.
  • Installation of domestic water continues between North-South Axis Rd and Via Ortega.
  • Jane Stanford Way, between North-South Axis Rd and Via Ortega, will be closed from 9pm to 6am. Please follow the posted detour for vehicles and bikes.
  • The southern sidewalk on Jane Stanford Way, between North-South Axis Rd and Via Pueblo, will be closed during construction. Pedestrians, please follow the posted detour.
  • Work hours are 8pm to 6am, Monday through Thursday, with the road closure beginning at 9pm.


JANE STANFORD WAY - DAY WORK:

  • Domestic water shut down is scheduled for Saturday, 6/29, from 8am to 12pm. Water will be shut down for the Gates building and the Gilbert building during the operation.
  • Work hours are 8am to 4pm.


MAIN QUAD - NIGHT WORK:

  • Electrical Reliability Improvements (ERI) work is ongoing in the Main Quad.
  • Some pedestrian detours will be in place, please follow detour instructions.
  • Work hours are 9:30pm to 8am, Monday through Friday.


ANDERSON COLLECTION PATIO: 

  • Patio improvements between Cantor Arts Center and Anderson Collection continue.
  • Work hours are 6:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.


LOKEY PLANTING RENEWALS:

  • Planting renewal work around Lokey Laboratory continues.
  • Work hours will be 6:30am to 3pm, Monday through Friday.


VARIAN BUILDING DECK LEAK REMEDIATION:

  • Continuing with rough grade, topsoil, and metal header for pavers (at DG area) - expect mild noise and backup alarms.
  • Waterproofing installation work to begin.
  • Bike pathway will be temporarily impacted during unloading/loading of materials, but flaggers will be utilized during this operation.
  • Pedestrian routing will be modified during construction, please follow posted detour signage.
  • Working Hours are from 6am to 3pm, Monday through Friday.


ARBORETUM ROAD:

  • Pathway improvements and water line installation continues near Lasuen Street and Arboretum Road.
  • Work hours are from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Please use caution when traveling in the area.


PANAMA MALL:

  • Potholing work will occur on the pedestrian path near Peterson Building through 7/8.
  • Bike racks in the immediate area will be out of service. No vehicle traffic interruptions are expected. 


ROBLE HALL UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Installation of temp fence/k-rail and signage to delineate the work area. Expect backup alarms throughout the day.
  • Tentative installation of Lake Water Utilities.
  • Vehicular and pedestrian pathways will be modified, please follow posted detour signage.
  • Work hours are from 9am to 5pm.


560 FREMONT LANDSCAPE:

  • Delivery and excavation/installation of trees to begin.
  • Area of work will be isolated to parking area behind 560 Fremont building to edge of Golf Course.
  • No major traffic closure required. Isolated traffic control via flagging for pedestrian and bicyclists, as needed.
  • Working Hours are from 6am to 3pm, Monday through Friday.


EAST CAMPUS

GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION:

  • Concrete pours will occur on Tuesday 7/2, Wednesday 7/3 and Friday 7/12. 
  • A crane will be demobilizing to site the week of the 7/8. Exact date is not confirmed, but it likely expected on 7/9 or 7/10 starting at 5am. 
  • Large steel deliveries will occur each day over the next week, starting at 6am. 
  • Please be alert for large trucks entering the site via Escondido Mall/Road.
  • Escondido Mall remains closed between Meyer Green and Lasuen Mall.
  • The CERAS gate will be utilized weekly for dumpster removals/replacements, material deliveries, and dump trucks.
  • Structural upgrades of GSE North are ongoing; expect increased noise and vibration.
  • Follow all posted signage around the site fence for alternate pathways.


ART GALLERY PAVING REPLACEMENT:

  • Concrete restoration ongoing - expect saw-cutting and backup alarms throughout the day.
  • Drilling for light pole footings will commence.
  • Bike pathways should not be impacted with next week's operations.
  • Pedestrian pathways will be modified during construction, please follow posted detour signage.
  • Work Hours are from 6:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.


LASUEN ESCONDIDO CIRCULATION IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Expect loud demolition work the week of 7/1.
  • Grading work will begin the week of 7/8.
  • Emergency vehicles, please utilize alternative routes for access.
  • Pedestrian pathways will be modified during construction, please follow posted detour signage.
  • Work hours are 6:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.


GALVEZ UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS:

  • High voltage and lake water improvements ongoing, from 7am to 4pm.
  • Sawcutting and trenching will be happening for new electrical duct bank and lake water main improvements on Galvez.
  • Traffic control will be in place reducing Galvez to one lane of traffic. Limited parking along Galvez.


GALVEZ MALL REPAIR WORK:

  • Work within the steam manhole along Galvez Mall continues. 
  • Pedestrian pathways will be modified during construction, please follow posted detour signage.
  • Work hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.


MAPLES PAVILION EXPANSION:

  • Construction will continue through the remainder of the year. Expect excessive noise and dust.
  • The sidewalk on Campus Drive is closed, please follow posted detour signage.


TAUBE TENNIS SOUTH (ENCINA TENNIS COURTS):

  • Intermittent disturbances may occur on the paths adjacent to the courts through the remainder of the year due to construction activities. 
  • Bike, pedestrian and cart routes have been modified around the site but are still open. Please use caution in this area and follow posted detours. 
  • Utilities work on campus drive is ongoing, please follow posted traffic signs to ensure your safety. 


FIELD HOCKEY FIELD REPLACEMENT:

  • Intermittent disturbances may occur around the field due to construction activities through July.


TAUBE TENNIS STADIUM:

  • Demo of the stadium will begin Monday, 7/11. Expect excessive noise and dust.
  • The sidewalk on Campus Drive will be closed, please follow posted detour signs to ensure your safety.


SMITH SOFTBALL STADIUM:

  • Construction fencing will remain up for the duration of the project. Churchill Mall will be closed to pedestrians directly adjacent to the stadium please follow signs for detours. 


340 BONAIR SIDING ROAD DEMOLITION:

  • Pre-demolition activities are ongoing at the site. 
  • Fire Department training activities continue.


QUILLEN HIGHRISE RENOVATION:

  • Clean up and repair of the site/landscape continues within the site fencing.
  • Furniture installation will begin on 7/1, there will be extra truck traffic to the site during this time for deliveries. Please use caution when traveling around the site.


QUILLEN DOMESTIC WATER:

  • Pedestrian pathways will be modified due to potholing work. Pedestrians, please follow the posted detour signage.
  • Work hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.


EV UTILITIES RENEWAL:

  • Domestic water main renewal work continues on Abrams Court.
  • Work hours are from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Parking will be impacted during construction so please follow no parking signs.
  • Please observe posted signage and flaggers and use caution when traveling in the area.

SAFETY REMINDERS

  • Avoid using cell phones while walking or biking, especially around construction sites.
  • Pay attention to your surroundings as you walk, run, bike, or drive around campus.
  • Anticipate detours in construction areas and follow the directions of flaggers and signs.
  • If you're riding a bike, follow the rules of the road - stop at signs.
  • Allow a little more time than usual to travel on campus.
