How to link Sales Order to Manufacturing Scenario in SAP ByDesign

Hi Experts,

In a Make-To-Order scenario, our client has a need to know which production order is associated with each sales order. I have been informed by SAP that such directly linkage is not available in ByDesign. I have tested other work-arounds like using extension field but so far no luck as I am not able to extend anything from sales to manufacturing.

Any suggestions?

Dear Jiawen,

When following the Make-To-Order process where each Sales Order has a separate Production Order you can use the Product Specification (PRS) in the Sales Order. The PRS ID or PRS Description, can be the same as the Sales Order ID. This will then create a tight coupling between the Production Order and the Sales Order and by using the PRS ID/Description fields one can directly search (via the Enterprise Search) for related Production Orders and Sales Orders.

Apart from Make-To-Order scenario, it is not possible to link production order, with the corresponding sales order.

Unfortunately this won't work as in the make-to-order scenario, we are already using the product specification ID for item specifications. I have tried the extension field option but I do not see a way to extend something from the SO to the production order business object.
