[edit]DescriptionOhio State Exhibit - A Century of Progress International Exposition brochure (page 05 b).jpg |
English: Education, one of a set of fifteen murals by William Mark Young, shown and described in a brochure published to accompany the Ohio State Exhibit at the 1933 A Century of Progress International Exhibition (aka "Chicago World's Fair"). The murals were subsequently relocated to the Ohio Statehouse.
The accompanying description reads: "Here is pictured the crude beginning of the American school room, with desks and seats hewn roughly from logs; the stern school master and the eager children—all of which depicts how our forefathers received their "book learning." From this background we see the vision of Ohio State University and also of the modern township schools in Ohio." |
