Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The European squid, also known as the common squid, is a large squid belonging to the family Loliginidae. It is found in coastal waters of the eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, from the North Sea to at least the west coast of Africa. They are abundant in these areas and can be found from sea level down to depths of 500 meters (1,600 ft). The mantle, the main part of the body, can grow up to 40 centimeters (16 inches) long, though a more common size is 20 to 30 centimeters (8 to 12 inches).
