Welcome to the Wikimedia Commons.
The goal of this project is to provide a central repository for free images, music and, possibly, texts and spoken texts, to be used by all Wikimedia projects.
The Commons was launched on 7 September 2004. Help with planning the project is very welcome.

The content
If you have a large number of files to upload, we recommend you compress them into one big zip file and then upload that. Some time in the next few days, a script will be written to decompress zip files on the server side. Please make sure you use appropriate file names inside the archives. Please note that uploads are limited to 20 MB. Bigger files are dropped and can't be uploaded.
