Download K-Lite Codec Pack Basic

The Basic variant is very small and contains only the bare essentials needed for multimedia playback. Despite its small size, it is still very powerful and allows playback of practically every known audio and video format. The Basic variant does not include a player. If you also need a player, get the Standard variant.

Basic version does NOT include a player!

The Basic package only contains DirectShow codecs. It does not include a player. It is compatible only with players that use DirectShow codecs.

The modern Windows Media Player from Windows 10/11 uses a different type of codec. Visit our Media Foundation codec page to download the correct required codecs for WMP.

If you want a very good player, then use the Standard version instead. That includes MPC-HC as player.
