Works great!
I have used other Satechi devices and was nervous to upgrade because of the reviews, but I’ve had zero issues with mine. It works great and helps me to clean up my cables on my desk. I have mine connected to my Macbook pro, keyboard, mouse and run two monitors on it. Says it can run three, so I figured I’ll add another monitor soon.

Tech sup is obviously not in the USA timezone. You get a response a day later. First tech question after already sending this information was this "Can you please send me the full model of the docking station you use?" I sent it again and have to wait another full day even though email was send during their operation hours. Next Tech question was: "Which video ports are the monitors connected to?" I could see a month long process to maybe get this resolved. I am sorry I deal with all kinds of tech support being an IT person myself and this was as useless as ever I have seen!

I returned this thing and went with another brand and on first plugging in the monitor cables all three monitors worked on my Macbook.

Honestly a 0 out of 5 would by a more appropriate rating.

I needed to use a DisplayLink driver downloaded seperately from the software for this devices, which is a seperate download from Synaptics. I'm on a MacBook Pro 13 M1 and was trying to use two external Dell 27" monitors via HDMI. The native software from SATECHI does not work. Even with the DisplayLink, I have to use the experimental mode.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
I've been using this for about a month now, and it's been exactly what I needed it to be. I'm working off of an ASUS Vivobook S14, so not a Mac, but it still works great. I have 3 monitors set up, 2 HDMI and 1 Displayport. For the most part it is pretty much plug and play, but I did find that after a few hours, it would "reconnect" all of the monitors and cause them to all go blank for a second and then go back to normal. It happens daily so it's not just a one-time thing for me sadly. All the ports (USBC/A, Ethernet, etc) work great! I never checked speed from the Ethernet though as my work Wifi isn't impressive to begin with haha. It also charges my laptop amazingly quickly so I never have to worry if I start my day off with a low battery.

Overall, this would have received an easy 5 stars if I didn't have it turn on/off my monitors every few hours. That may be because I'm using Windows 11 though. It's a great piece of equipment and currently priced right around what other products are at. If you're in need of 3 monitors (or 4 if you keep your laptop open) then I would recommend grabbing this for yourself!

I switched from a PC to a MAC and now none of my previous docking stations work! This was a dream - super easy to set-up, did not require any added software and charges my computer while connected. ALSO, I can close my laptop and still use on external monitor, which I did not think was possible with my MAC. Highly recommend!

I purchased this device trusting that I wouldn't need to use all four USB-C ports of my MacBook Pro, but unfortunately, the experience hasn't met my expectations. Following the instructions in the manual, I connected the equipment and, to my dismay, it resulted in damaging one of the USB-C ports on my computer. Initially, I assumed it was a fluke. However, upon attempting to connect it to a second USB-C port, that one was also rendered inoperative. Far from being the connectivity solution I was looking for, this device has instead caused further complications, leaving me with only two available USB-C ports: one for the monitor and another for charging. It has been a truly disappointing experience.

The product is not working with Macbook Pro M1 as advertised. It's a know issue since Sonoma Firmware update. I've tried everything, read all the forums, went thru customer service....nothing can be done. I've had to return it. I bought another brand, it was plug and play. Don't lose your time with this one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fairly decent triple-display dock (1x HDMI, 2x DP), DisplayLink, 4K@60Hz, 2x 10G/3x 5G USB, PD3/100W
Reviewed in Canada on September 5, 2023
Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
This is a fairly decent multifunctional USB-C dock that provides power (via AC/DC adapter using barrel connector), triple-display (via 1x HDMI and 2x HDMI+PD), GigE, plenty of USB ports (USB-C and USB-A) and so on. It's advertised as being capable of 100W and indeed it's capable of providing close to 100W (well, 96W during tests but that's close enough) which should still be more than enough for most laptops/devices. Keep in mind that it's powered by an AC/DC adapter (via barrel connector) rated for 130W (provided) instead of the usual USB-C port that most other docks use.

Unlike the vast majority of docks out there, this is one of the few USB-C docks that supports triple monitors (albeit with some requirements/limitations, read on) via HDMI/DP along with a full set of other ports (GigE, 2x 10 Gbps (USB-C/USB-A), 3x 5 Gbps (1x USB-C/2x USB-A), and 3.5mm etc). Unfortunately, it doesn't have a SD/TF reader/port that most others (10+ ports) do so just be aware of that.

It has 3x USB 3.0 ports (@ 5Gbps) via 2x USB-A and 1x USB-C ports but none of them supports charging beyond 4.5W so (5V/0.9A) since they are just ordinary USB-A 3.0 ports without support for BC 1.2 charging protocol. However, it does include 2x USB 3.1 ports (@10 Gbps) via 1x USB-C and 1x USB-A and they BOTH support charging with up to 1.5A (7.5W max) and while this is nowhere need what QC/PD can provide for most our power-hungry devices that most us have, it's still vastly better than the 4.5W supported by ordinary USB ports (without BC 1.2 support).

The fact that it has USB 3.1/3.2 10 Gbps ports means it can fully take advantage of the faster external M2 docks/enclosures (NVMe/SATA) and/or other high speed devices that's faster than 400-500 MB/s (limited by USB 3.0). A quick test with an NVMe USB drive shows that it's indeed capable of supporting up to around 1120 MB/s which is fairly decent.

In addition to the full range of USB support (5/10 Gbps across both USB-C and USB-A ports) that it has, it's also equipped with a GigE port and a 3.5mm port; however, it does NOT have the usual SD/TF reader/port that's commonly found on most of these docks with 10+ ports.

Not surprisingly, the most important feature of this dock is its ability to support 3 monitors in total; however, this is NOT without limitations or rather, requirements (requires DP 1.4 for 60Hz, 30Hz with DP 1.2) just like all other docks out there. What's unique about this particular dock is that it supports the use of multiple displays without USB DP Alt mode which is excellent for older computers and/or laptops. The max resolution and refresh rate is 4K@60Hz across all 3 monitors. I don't have 3x 4K@60Hz monitors to test but it does work without issues with 2x monitors running at 4K@60Hz.

I should also emphasize again that the beauty of this particular dock is that you can use ordinary USB 2.0/3.0 ports to add more monitors without relying on the HDMI/DP ports on your computer nor will you need a full-featured USB-C port to use this dock. However, you WILL need an USB-C port that supports DP Alt mode in order to use 3 monitors and specifically to use the FIRST HDMI port.

So what are the limitations/requirements? Well, first of all, the HDMI port requires DP 1.4 Alt mode from your USB-C; otherwise, it's not gonna work or the ma resolution/refresh rate would be lowered if only DP 1.2 is supported depending upon your existing screen resolution/refresh rate. The bottom line is that the USB-C port should have DP 1.4 Alt support in order to fully utilize the HDMI port to its fullest (4K@60Hz).

In addition (and this is either a pro or con depending on how you look at it), the 2x HDMI+DP ports (you can use ONLY ONE from each vertical display group but NOT both from the same group) utilize DisplayLink technology which requires drivers to work so if drivers aren't available or can't be installed, then the 2x HDMI+DP ports will NOT work. The flip side of this is of course it does NOT depend on USB-C port to support video out (as I'll briefly describe below).

≑ DisplayLink
So how does this work? Well, the very short version is that the first HDMI port is your ordinary HDMI port that requires USB-C port (from your laptop) supporting video out (i.e. DP Alt mode) and the remaining 2 ports (2x HDMI+DP) are driven by DisplayLink technology (software-based) which isn't new but it essentially provides a way to add more monitors by utilizing existing USB 2.0/3.0 connections, CPU/GPU, and additional drivers (which are REQUIRED to use either HDMI/DP port at display 2 and display 3).

What this means is that if your laptop is connected to this dock via USB-C port capable of DP Alt mode, you can make use of all 3 ports; otherwise, the FIRST HDMI port on the dock won't be available but you can still use 2 monitors with 4K@60Hz via the remaining 2 HDMI+DP ports on the dock. Note that you don't need an USB-C port on your laptop or computer to use this; an ordinary USB-A port would work just fine although USB 3.0 is preferable for obvious reasons (i.e. higher bandwidth).

*** Again, keep in mind that display 1 is ordinary HDMI that requires DP Alt mode via USB-C port on your laptop, and display 2 and display 3 use DisplayLink that requires drivers installed for it to work. DISPLAY 2 and DISPLAY 3 EACH has 2 ports (1x HDMI and 1x DP) and you can choose either HDMI or DP from either DISPLAY 2 or DISPLAY 3 based on your individual setup; however you can NOT both HDMI and DP from the same group (e.g. DISPLAY 2). You must pick ONE (HDMI or DP) from DISPLAY 2 and another one (HDMI or DP) from DISPLAY 3. The ports on the TOP (for DISPLAY 2/3) are DP ports and the ones are the bottom are HDMI 2.0 ports.

βœ” This essentially allows you to extend or add more monitors to any OS that supports (i.e. drivers available) and these include Windows, Mac OS, Ubuntu, Android, and Chrome OS. Note that I haven't tested 'em all but they should all work as long as you can get the drivers installed and operate properly. The drivers for DisplayLink can be downloaded directly from Synaptics website.

Note that high speed and quality cables (HDMI and DP) are also needed for proper 4K@60Hz so check your system spec and other hardware first to make sure they can fully take advantage of what this dock offers.

✘ Note that the use DisplayLink (via software processing) means this will most likely NOT be fast enough for games requiring high resolution/refresh rate/bitrate because all the processing/translation will be done by the CPU (and to a certain degree the GPU) as opposed to unmodified signals being passed through high speed USB-C ports (HDMI or DP) that's capable of supporting HDMI 2.0 (18 Gbps) or DP 1.4 (32.4 Gbps). Of course, DISPLAY 1 (HDMI port with DP Alt mode support) would work just fine without these limitations/concerns.

≑ Specs & features
* 1x Power 130W (via AC/DC adapter using barrel connector, included)
* 1x 100W PD (Output); max 96W during tests
* 1x HDMI (DP Alt mode), 4K@60Hz
* 2x HDMI+DP (DisplayLink), 4K@60Hz
* 2x USB 3.1 @ 10 Gbps (1x USB-C, 1x USB-A), 5V/1.5A
* 3x USB 3.0 @ 5 Gbps (1X USB-C, 2x USB-A), 5V/0.9A
* 1x GigE
* 1x 3.5mm port

≑ What I like
βœ” Triple-display support with 4K@60Hz which few others support at the moment (though more have come aboard recently utilizing DisplayLink technology)
βœ” Capable of utilizing USB interfaces to extend display without HDMI/DP Alt mode (the BEST feature)
βœ” Supports triple- (with DP Alt mode) or dual-monitor (4K@60Hz)
βœ” Plenty of USB ports (2x USB 3.1 @ 10 Gbps, 3x USB 3.0 @ 5 Gbps)
βœ” Nice and clean physical build and appears to be well made
βœ” Relatively compact and portable - though it is noticeably larger than most other 4K capable USB-C docks
βœ” Semi-Plug'n'Play - I was able to use it right away without issues (drivers are required for DisplayLink, however)

≑ What I don't like
✘ NOT as cost efficient as some others
✘ Doesn't have USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports (USB-C or USB-A) rated at 20 Gbps to support high speed external drive dock/enclosure (i.e. M.2 NVMe SSD)
✘ Runs a bit warmer than what I'd like it to be when in high load/charging (most of 'em do as well)

≑ Value
All things considered, this is a fairly decent USB-C docking station that's well built (in comparison to most other docks out there) and it's capable of triple monitor (or at least dual-monitor without DP Alt mode) with plenty of USB ports (2x USB 3.1 @ 10 Gbps, 3x USB 3.0 @ 5 Gbps) along with a GigE port and 3.5mm port.

It's a bit pricey at $471 for what it provides and its overall build quality, features, usability, and performance in comparison to most other docks with similar capabilities. You can knock 60% off for something that doesn't have 10 Gbps USB if that's something you're interested in and care to shop around here.

It's certain a lot more expensive (3-4x) than ordinary USB-C docks especially those without DisplayLink technology but it's in my eyes is a fair trade-off especially for systems without DP Alt mode (since it cannot be added) and it's certainly one of the few with 2x USB 3.1 10 Gbps ports (1x USB-C and 1x USB-A) that's capable of utilizing USB 2.0/3.0 ports (i.e. not requiring DP Alt mode and to a certain degree MST mode of DP 1.2/1.4) while supporting 3x 4K@60Hz simultaneously so this might be suitable for those with unique setup and/or requirements.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fairly decent triple-display dock (1x HDMI, 2x DP), DisplayLink, 4K@60Hz, 2x 10G/3x 5G USB, PD3/100W
Reviewed in Canada on September 5, 2023

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great with 1 x 4K or 2 x 1080p monitors
Reviewed in Canada on September 7, 2023
Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
I'm really liking this USB-C dock. It works great with 1 x 4K monitor at 60 Hz or 2 x 1080p at 75 Hz.

The included USB-C to USB-C cable has a USB-C to USB-A adapter for some reason. When I tried this dock plugged into my USB-A port, there is nothing displayed on my monitor.

I tested this on my Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 and everything was working just fine. The instructions say that this dock will send 100W of power to your laptop to charge. I have no way of measuring the amount of power coming through but my laptop charged perfectly fine.

I wish there were at least 2 x USB 2.0 ports though. I found out that USB 3.0 ports emit a wireless signal on the 2.4 GHz band that will interfere with wireless mice, keyboards, and headsets. So, if you plug in a USB dongle for a wireless mouse into a USB 3.0 port you might find that your mouse might stop working every few mins for maybe 3 seconds. This is not the fault of the mouse but of the USB 3.0 port.

As an alternative, I will plug my wireless keyboard and mice dongles to USB 2.0 extension cables. This seems to work just fine.

The dock will not work unless you plug in the power supply. There is a power button on this dock which allows you to turn off the dock when not in use.

The thunderbolt 4 port to connect to your laptop is facing the left side of the dock. It would have made more sense if the port was on the front of the dock because your laptop is going to be in front of you and the dock will most likely be behind the laptop.

I can definitely recommend this dock.
