    How much does Type Folio weigh?

    We wanted to make our keyboard as easy to slip into your bag as your paper tablet. Type Folio weighs approximately 453g (.99 lb) on its own. So when attached to your reMarkable 2 and Marker Plus, the total weight is approximately 878g (1.9 lb).

    Does Type Folio have a place to store my Marker?

    Just like our Book Folio, Type Folio leaves room for your Marker. It snaps magnetically to the right side of your reMarkable, making it easy to access when typing and annotating, but stored neatly out of the way while reading or on the go.

    Can I use Type Folio with other tablets?

    No. Type Folio was made specifically to work in conjunction with reMarkable 2’s software and will not work with other E Ink tablets. It is the only physical keyboard that your paper tablet supports.

    Will using Type Folio affect the battery life of reMarkable 2?

    No. Using the Type Folio for note-taking should make almost no noticeable difference to the overall battery life of your paper tablet.

    What material is Type Folio made from?

    Type Folio is made from artificial leather and offered in two colors: Sepia Brown and Ink Black. It’s durable, polymer-based, and vegan — which we know is important to customers who’d prefer not to use animal-based products to protect their device.

    I've been using Remarkable tablets for a few years now and have consistently been impressed with the tablet itself. Recently, I purchased the keyboard accessory from Remarkable, which came with a $50 discount due to my Connect subscription. Upon receiving it a few days ago, the tablet recognized the keyboard quickly, and it folds neatly behind the tablet in a case. However, I've noticed a couple of issues:Limited Font and Size Options:The keyboard only offers three font sizes and doesn't allow typing across the entire screen. It's a bit restrictive, and I wish there were more font and size options available. Even the built-in keyboard on the tablet has the same limitation.Stylus Erasing for Keyboard Input:An issue I've encountered is that the stylus pen cannot be used to erase text that was inputted using the keyboard. To erase something typed with the keyboard, I have to go back to the keyboard and backspace over the text, which isn't very intuitive.These aspects of the keyboard's functionality and usability could be improved to enhance the overall user experience. Providing more diverse font and size options, enabling the stylus for erasing keyboard input, and considering a full-width keyboard could significantly enhance the usability and efficiency of the Remarkable tablet.

    I gave the Type Folio 4 stars because I am a huge fan of accessories that instantly connect without extra wires or batteries. The keyboard instantly syncs with the tablet and I can choose between PC or Mac keyboard settings. I also appreciate the function legend that appears after holding the control button. However, There are downsides I experienced with using the Type Folio. This accessory was just introduced. With ReMarkable's constant software updates and improvements, I can see things getting better in time.

    I faced some issues while using the Type Folio keyboard: 1) The keyboard setting is not compatible with any of the installed templates. 2) There isn't an option for portrait or horizontal setting when typing. The tablet is automatically set to the horizontal layout when using the Type Folio. 3) The page margins set for the on-screen keyboard and the Type Folio are not realistic. The margins, while using the on-screen keyboard are fixed at almost .5" (top), 1" above the on-screen keyboard (the bottom?) , and 1" for the left and right margins in the fixed portrait layout. When the Type Folio is attached, the margins are set at 2" left and right, and almost 1.5" top and bottom in the fixed landscape layout. I can set margins with a typewriter. But not with this tablet (yet). Hopefully this will change in time. 4) The cursor has a fixed starting point which cannot be set independently anywhere on the page.

    Regarding the software functions and page features, 1) There isn't a function for headers of footers. 2)There is no indication of where a page ends. Auto-scroll is set for continuous typing. I didn't try cut and paste feature between the ReMarkable 2 tablet software and MS Word desktop software. Maybe the continuous typing can be properly edited when transferred to MS Word on the computer. 3)The writing and type combination is not fluid: I can either write, or type. There isn't a combination of the two, unless it's for the purpose of mark-ups and hand-written edits. If an error is made while typing, I can double tap to select the word and then press the delete button to erase the word. This cannot be done with the stylus, nor with the tablet's erase feature, unless it is to edit manual markups. 4) Editing features are limited, there is no underline feature or change the font, nor can I indent at the beginning of a paragraph (yet). Hopefully, this will change in time.

    With that said, the ReMarkable 2 was marketed as a tool for seamless and uninterrupted thought, and is set apart from the usual day-to-day technologies. Personally, I do not want the ReMarkable to become a laptop substitute. However, with having the virtual and physical keyboard, I expect page functions like margin adjustments and proper page features like headers, footers, definitive page endings, and lined-page templates for typing. Again, with ReMarkable's constant software updates and improvements, I can see things getting better in time.

    I saw the reMarkable ads on YouTube one day and it really intrigued me. The more I looked at the product details and competitor products, the more I wanted one. I decided to purchase the reMarkable 2 bundle with pen plus and additionally the Type Folio. It was delivered quickly, about a day before estimated delivery date and I have been dancing the happy dance ever since. It is perfectly delightful in every way. I knew right away it would be one of my most used tools and so it is.

    I wasn't sure if I wanted a regular cover for my ReMarkable or ante up for the keyboard. I am glad I got the keyboard.

    To be clear, it isn't necessary if you are happy always writing handwritten notes. I prefer handwritten when listening to others talk or in a meeting and jotting down what I need on the fly. However, when working alone and expressing my thoughts, I can go faster with the keyboard. It is easy to use, low form factor, great tactile feeling on keys and a semi hard cover for better protection.

    If you are like meet and can type faster/as fast as you write notes and like a cleaner look when putting your thoughts down, the keyboard is the way to go!
