Green Steel Stainless+ is produced according to ISO 14021 with over 95% recycled material. As our scrap comes mainly from Europe, we have been able to reduce the Scope 3 emissions of Stainless+ by over 75%. Furthermore, the CO2 footprint is around 1,0 tCO2e per tonne of steel supplied. In addition to the sustainability aspect, our Green Steel Stainless+ also boasts outstanding properties: depending on the requirement profile, it is corrosion and heat resistant, offers excellent mechanical properties or is non-magnetic. Its visual and architectural advantages make it particularly attractive for a wide range of applications. Examples include use in the construction industry, in the automotive sector, for household appliances and in medical and aerospace technology. Our Sustainable Development team welcomed around thirty employees from EDF Hydro, operator of national hydroelectric power plants, in Ugine. Besides the joint visit to our production facility, we were able to explain our approach in the field of energy and decarbonization. We are committed to an ambitious approach aimed at reducing its environmental footprint, particularly in terms of electricity and natural gas consumption. Innovative projects are under study, such as enriching furnace combustion air with oxygen, using hydrogen and electrifying furnaces, thus replacing natural gas with electric resistors and hydrogen.
