START Global is building the seeding ground for entrepreneurial talent. Our non-profit student initiative was established in 1996 at the University of St. Gallen. Since then, we have built a community of like-minded founders and entrepreneurial-minded individuals deeply embedded in Europe's startup ecosystem. Our organization hosts the annual START Summit x Hack, organizes the START Fellowship program, and connects entrepreneurial minds. Through these efforts, we aim to unleash the innovative potential of entrepreneurial ecosystems. Since 2016, START has been supported by the START Foundation and its advisory board, which includes ten distinguished Swiss entrepreneurs and investors, amongst others, Daniel Gutenberg, Urs Wietlisbach and Florian Schweitzer.

Deutschland hat eine neue wertvollste KI-Firma: Das Übersetzungsstart-up DeepL wird mit 2 Milliarden Dollar bewertet! 👇 Jeder kennt es, viele nutzen es - und gefühlt zahlt dafür niemand. Auf der Internetseite von DeepL lassen sich kurze Texte in 32 Sprachen übersetzen. Was viele nicht wissen: Geld verdient die Firma von Jaroslaw (Jarek) Kutylowski mit Business-Software. Wie bei kaum einer anderen Firma, über die ich berichte, kann ich sagen: Ich nutze die Software selbst häufig und habe mich Dank DeepL längst daran gewöhnt, dass hochqualitatitve Übersetzungen mit einem Klick möglich sind. Und das ist eine bemerkenswerte Leistung, wenn man bedenkt, dass Google das nie so richtig überzeugend hinbekommen hat. Aber ich sage auch ehrlich: Als mir letztes Jahr bewusst wurde, dass Tools wie ChatGPT ganz nebenbei neben den vielen nützlichen Funkionen auch übersetzen können, da hätte ich wahrscheinlich keinen Pfennig mehr darauf gewettet, dass DeepL nochmal attraktive Investoren anzieht. Nun steigt mit Index Ventures eine der renommiertesten Wagniskapitalfirmen Europas ein. Mit der Investorin Katharina Wilhelm und DeepL-Gründer Jarek Kutylowski habe ich darüber gesprochen, warum sich die Firma vielleicht doch weiterhin gegen die finanzstärksten Technologiefirmen der Welt durchsetzen kann.
