On Monday, #HurricaneBeryl landed near Matagorda, Texas, marking the first hurricane of the 2024 #AtlanticHurricaneSeason. This explosive strengthening was partly fueled by exceptionally warm ocean temperatures, a factor behind NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration’s May prediction of an 85% chance that the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season would be above normal. Learn more about the forecast here: https://lnkd.in/equAERZ9 Key Impacts from Beryl: 🌧️ Heavy Rainfall: Beryl brought daily accumulated rainfall of 2-4 inches, causing significant flooding. Houston recorded over 4 inches of rain on Monday. 💨 Wind Gusts & Power Outages: Southeast Texas is now on its fifth day of power outages due to Beryl's impacts, which included gusts up to 50 mph at landfall. 🔥 Extreme Heat: Power outages and temperatures nearing 100 °F have created dangerous conditions. The heat index, with values exceeding 86°F, poses a high risk for heat exhaustion. Tragically, the storm has caused at least 11 fatalities across Texas and Louisiana. Our hearts go out to the families affected by these events. We support industries looking to stay ahead of dangerous storms like Beryl all year with precise, real-time data. ⛈ Severe Weather Conditions Across Central Europe ⛈ A significant low-pressure system centered over the UK is slowly moving northward, bringing a variety of severe weather conditions across Europe. This system is set to impact multiple regions over the next 36 hours. 🎯 Key Highlights: Northern France and BeNeLux: A surface low ahead of the main center is expected to trigger thunderstorms by evening. In a high wind shear environment, supercells and organized bow echoes are likely to form, with the potential for damaging wind gusts extending into far northwest Germany. Southern Norway: As the bow echo weakens across the North Sea and the low-pressure system becomes included into the main circulation, the pressure gradient will strengthen towards the coast of Norway. This will lead to severe wind gusts along the coast and in the mountains by morning. Switzerland to Southern Germany: Thunderstorms are anticipated during the night and morning hours. While these storms will primarily be elevated the risk of severe wind gusts is lower, nevertheless, they could still bring heavy rain. Eastern Germany to Poland: Thunderstorm activity will intensify from midday tomorrow, forming a squall line from the northern Czech Republic to the Baltic Sea. This system is expected to produce severe wind gusts and poses a significant risk to large parts of Poland. 💡 Stay ahead of the weather with the Meteomatics #WeatherAPI: https://lnkd.in/dsTaFiqj

#HurricaneBeryl has strengthened into a hazardous storm. Record warm sea surface temperatures of 86°F (30°C) fueled #Beryl’s rapid intensification from a depression to a Category 4 hurricane in just 48 hours. This marks the strongest hurricane we’ve seen this early in the season! On Monday, Beryl passed the Windward Islands and is moving west across the Caribbean Sea at about 20 mph (30 km/h). While it’s expected to weaken slowly by the end of the week over the Yucatan and southern Gulf of Mexico, all in the path should remain vigilant. Meanwhile, another disturbance follows behind Beryl, more than 1000 miles east-southeast of the Windward Islands, with a 60% chance of formation within seven days. 📊 Weather insights are crucial for making informed decisions. We provide precise, real-time weather data to help you stay ahead of Beryl and every storm threatening this hurricane season. Reach out and try our #weatherapi. As we step into the climatological #summer of 2024, spanning from June 1st to August 31st, central Europe is poised to experience temperatures that align with or even exceed the historical average from 1961-1990. However, a notable reduction in sunshine hours may make the onset of summer feel cooler than it actually is. This Saturday, gear up for a spike in temperatures as an upper-level trough and low-pressure system over #France ushers in warm southern air. Cities like Frankfurt can anticipate hitting the 30°C mark for the first time this year. Over the Alps, expect a surge of warm, stormy gusts locally reaching up to 34°C in the foehn valleys of eastern #Switzerland, southern #Bavaria, and #Austria, driven by a robust southerly foehn wind. This spell of high-summer weather will be brief. By Saturday noon, the low-pressure system will shift northeast, introducing widespread thunderstorms, heavy rain, and localized hail across the region. Parts of eastern Switzerland and southwestern #Germany might also encounter severe gusts by late Saturday evening, potentially disrupting outdoor activities. By Sunday, as the system moves over the Baltic Sea, cooler air from the northern Atlantic will sweep through, momentarily pausing our summer dream. Track these developments and take advantage of our easy-to-integrate and easily accessible #WeatherAPI with a risk-free trial for 14 days. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain! https://lnkd.in/es_PuMNc
