🚢🌍 The Puteri Saadong, our new generation LNG vessel, has successfully discharged at Puerto de Huelva, marking our first operation of this kind on the Iberian Peninsula. Departing from Sabine Pass, USA, the Puteri Saadong unloaded 167,300 cubic meters of LNG, reinforcing Huelva port's role in the global energy transition. 🏆 Celebrating the 2024 Frontiers Planet Prize Winners 🏆 Congratulations to the three international winners of the 2024 Frontiers Planet Prize, awarded today by Professor Johan Rockström at the Villars Symposium, hosted by The Villars Institute: 🌍 Dr. Pedro Jaureguiberry from the Instituto Multidisciplinario de Biología Vegetal, Argentina, for his groundbreaking work on ecological balance, crucial for human health and prosperity. 🌊 Professor Peter Haase from the Senckenberg Society for Nature Research, Germany, for his research on safeguarding freshwater biodiversity and actionable future strategies. 🌐 Professor Jason Rohr from the University of Notre Dame, USA, for his innovative approach to viewing poverty, health, and environmental issues as interconnected challenges. The sustainability challenges we face are immense and require immediate, intelligent, and collaborative efforts. This is why the Frontiers Planet Prize was launched by the Frontiers Research Foundation, a knowledge partner of the Villars Institute. Its ambition is to directly address the planetary crisis by mobilizing scientists engaged in breakthrough research that has the greatest potential to stabilize the planet’s ecosystem. From 23 national champions announced in April, the three winners were selected by an independent jury of 100 planetary health experts, chaired by Professor Johan Rockström. Each winning institution will receive one million Swiss francs to further their impactful research and gain global recognition. Earlier this week, two incredible ocean and polar science expeditions set sail and we are proud sponsor of both of them. It's important to gain a better understanding of the impact of climate change on the polar regions. Acting like an early warning system, they are crucial to regulating the planet's climate. They are especially sensitive to increasing temperatures that causes ice to melt, contributing to rising sea levels, disrupting ocean currents, and threatening the species that live in these ecosystems. These two voyages aim to study the changes happening in the Arctic to gain valuable insights into the current situation and what might happen if we don't take action.
