Producing an Oscar-Winning Movie at LEDCity AG! 🎬 Last Friday, our team split into two to create two amazing short films. One part decided to dress up and film a Western surrounding the fight for the bar-lady, while the other group opted to play two Mafia families with a kidnapping involved. Each group included fun twists like an LED-tube fight between the two Western stars and the Mafia boss being annoyed about the light turning off too quickly because of the short follow-up times. While we took a refreshing swim in the Limmat, the filming crew edited the two movies. We came back to enjoy the entertaining films and then chose our favorite characters, as well as the overall better movie, which were each awarded an Oscar. 🍿 The day was marked by lots of laughter, and we were left with two amazing short movies to remember the fun time. Welcome our new LEDCitizens: Mark, Gustav & Dominik! 👋🏼 A few days ago, we were happy to welcome Mark Stricker as Team Lead Project Engineering, Switzerland. Mark brings a wealth of project leadership experience to the team. With his hands-on approach, he will further build up the project engineering department together with Dario and Gustav. Gustav Pap has also just started his new role as a Junior Project Engineer. He worked at various points in time for LED Professionals in Germany and holds an M.Sc. in Physics. Thanks to his experience and technical skills, we can ensure the smooth implementation of our projects. Last, but certainly not least, Dominik D. recently joined us as an Account Executive. Dominik's background in commercial and client management, combined with his client-focused approach, will be the key to realize many energy-saving lighting projects in the German part of Switzerland. Meet Itamar, our Software Engineer 🚀 In autumn 2021, Itamar moved to Switzerland to start his masters at ETH in mathematics. Little did he know he would fall in love with the country of cheese and mountains and permanently move there to work at LEDCity AG. But before giving away too much, let us rewind: At Polymesse (Forum & Contact), ETH Zürich’s career fair, Itamar was looking for a company with a positive impact where he could actually contribute. Lucky for us, he spoke to Patrik and realized an internship at LEDCity would be a great fit, not only because of the company vision and atmosphere but also because IoT lighting had been an interest of his for a while. Itamar admits he was a bit skeptical about whether LEDCity’s promise matched reality, but he is glad he was proven wrong. His skepticism has turned into a true passion for the product he works on. He enjoys how future-oriented #NOMUS is, as it is scalable, reliable, easy to expand with further features, and has a robust network thanks to our partner Wirepas. He thrives in his progress- and learning-focused team that inspires him to continuously develop himself, both personally and professionally. Additionally, he finds that “being greeted with a problem and putting pen to paper to think of an elegant and efficient method to fix it” and “spending time designing a piece of code or project and suddenly seeing it work, and your ideas coming to life is touching, and you take pride in it being in the field.” We are more than happy that Itamar decided to continue his journey at LEDCity after his internship and have such a dedicated, talented, and overall great person on our team. A common concern among our potential customers is that on-demand lighting may compromise user safety, particularly the thought of ‘stepping into darkness before the lights turn on’. While this is a real issue with some systems from other providers, with #NOMUS, we have developed a lighting solution that offers both high energy efficiency and exceptional user comfort. 💡 Today, we want to highlight one of the features that enhances safety and comfort: orientation lighting. In large spaces like parking areas, people can easily lose their sense of direction. Orientation lighting helps guide them to the next logical point, usually the exit, and also draws their attention to critical spots such as pedestrian crossings. With our IoT-based lighting system, we can easily configure any light source to be an orientation light. Those orientation lights will automatically fade up to full brightness whenever presence is detected anywhere in the area. For users, this means that as soon as someone enters, they are guided by the brightest light, naturally leading them towards the exit. Replacing LED with intelligent LED saves 80% 💡 In every public parking, the safety of users is the utmost priority. That is why the lights in the parking Stampfenbach were on 24/7. But with rising energy prices, the outdated lighting installation had to be replaced. The client was convinced by the #NOMUS lighting solution, as it allows for the comfort and safety of users to remain while saving energy. Measurements showed an impressive 80% drop in energy consumption, meaning the technology switch saves as much energy annually as leaving an average washing machine on for 64,143 hours! * But how are such great savings possible? The intelligence integrated into every light source enables light on-demand. This means that people and vehicles are surrounded by light while unused areas are dimmed down to a base light. Since the light sources form a network together, special functions such as safety lighting for pedestrians can be easily tailored to the exact need of the customer.   * Calculation: 850 W per hour for the washing machine, 43,617 kWh energy savings per year. #LEDCity #energyefficiency #intelligentlighting
