"Cash flow is vital to every airline. With the ICCS, cash flow uncertainty is greatly reduced. Airlines know what revenues they are getting and when, and are aware of any issues well ahead of time," says Muhammad Ali Albakri, IATA's SVP for Financial Settlement and Distribution Services. 🏦The IATA Currency Clearing Service (ICCS) has streamlined global cash management for airlines for over 30 years. Handling $38B in 2023, ICCS aids treasurers in controlling and repatriating worldwide sales funds. Read full airlines story 👉 https://bit.ly/3XZe8OC #aviation #airlines #clearing #currencies

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is a key lever in the airline industry’s #decarbonization efforts, however, air passengers’ views on SAF highlight a number of challenges that lie ahead. Passengers understand the magnitude of the task to ramp up SAF production as quickly as possible, from its current low level. Consumers consider that both oil companies and governments have a responsibility to address the issue of making sufficient quantities of #SAF available; 86% of respondents noted that SAF production should be a priority for the major oil companies, and 71% agreed that oil companies should do more to produce SAF in larger quantities. Passengers also concurred that the role of government policy is critical in helping establish sufficient SAF supply and incentivizing #airlines to use SAF, at 86% of respondents for both questions. Without a supportive policy environment, scaling SAF production, and achieving aviation’s decarbonization more broadly, becomes increasingly difficult. IATA urges the Pakistan government to reevaluate its Federal Excise Duty (FED) decision. There are many issues affecting the aviation industry in Pakistan, including blocked funds. The government needs to do a better job at supporting this industry that is vital to the people and economy. Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority Pakistan Customs (Federal Board of Revenue) Prime Minister's Office, Board of Investment, Government of Pakistan Prime Minister’s Office - PMDU, The Government Of Pakistan
Aviation is a key enabler of Pakistan’s economy. Pre-COVID, the sector supported 425,000 jobs and contributed USD2.8 billion to the country’s GDP. Instead of ensuring positive policies are put in place to encourage the growth in air traffic and travel demand, it is disappointing that the Federal Excise Duty (FED) on air tickets for international travel has been increased on 1 July, with the FED more than doubling in some cases. Repeated FED increases will only dampen demand to Pakistan by increasing ticket prices. This will have devastating effects on the travel industry and the economy as a whole. We urge the government to reconsider this decision, and prioritize the growth and development of Pakistan's travel and tourism industry. Increasing the FED also contradicts with the FED Act 2005, and the Pakistan government’s commitments under ICAO’s guidelines and recommendations. Not only did the government fail to engage the industry in consultations, it surprised the industry by giving three days notice for implementation. This is causing problems for passengers, airlines and the authorities. There are many issues affecting the aviation industry in Pakistan, including blocked funds. The government needs to do a better job at supporting this industry that is vital to the people and economy. #FEDonFlights #TravelToPakistan #EconomyMatters"

We do not dispute the scientific evidence that non-CO2 emissions and particularly contrails have an impact on climate change. But there is no scientific consensus on the ability to forecast persistent contrails. To achieve that we need more data on humidity. And only then, should governments look to develop policies on contrails. Read ⬇️ IATA's Director General position regarding EU’s plans to compel #airlines to report their non-CO2 emissions from January 2025. https://bit.ly/3zCcg4k
