About
Aditya is a PhD student in the Department of Global Development, Cornell University. His research examines agrarian transformation, food security, and population resettlement in Southeast Asia, specifically Indonesia. Resettlement has been integral to state-led agricultural projects since the Dutch colonial government relocated landless poor to the archipelago's periphery in the early 20th century. Following independence, the Indonesian government has continued resettlement scheme with numerous goals, including bolstering food production. Focusing on the recent agri-food megaproject, his research aims to understand the potential and constraints of distributive policy in ensuring the reproduction of smallholders and securing food production.
