We have two hotel chains: Accent Inns, where there is a rubber duck in every room, and Hotel Zed, where we rebel against the ordinary. Our latest venture is ROAR, our live-fire restaurant in Tofino, BC. We are searching for a Director of Sales to join our flock of totally unique and fun-loving individuals to drive our business forward in the long term. 

 

This role reports to the VP of Marketing, Communications & Sales and is a key player in the organization working across departments to implement sales strategy at every level. We are committed to becoming a sales-focused organization, and your strategic mind, sharp intellect and methodical approach will get us there.  You will have an experienced sales team of six reporting to you with room to grow.

Salary: $100,000-$145,000

What the Role is Quacked Up to Be 

Strategy 

  • Prepare and execute the organization’s sales plan and related budget, ensuring integration of the 1,000-day, 300-day, and 100-day strategic planning process to achieve company growth and revenue goals. 
  • Lead and develop the sales team to deliver their highest potential and exceed sales goals in concert with our strategic plan while maintaining a happy and engaged team.  
  • Partner with the Director of Revenue to evaluate and drive all business tactics, packages, group rates and more to maximize revenue streams to the hotels and restaurant. 
  • Evaluate and recommend opportunities for developing new sources of business in all market segments to broaden our customer base. 
  • Remain informed of the competition’s sales and marketing strategies and counteract effectively to secure maximum business for our hotels and our company. 

Development 

  • Lead with empathy and embrace our LEAD WITH LOVE approach, focusing on the whole person, not just the work person.  
  • Direct and manage all sales training, yearly sales targets, and all other sales-related organizational learning to ensure an effective sales team and sales mindset across all properties. 

Guest Experience 

  • Ensure delivery of guest service through Operations to exceed customer expectations.  
  • Measure our client NPS numbers and collaborate with Operations and Happiness Hub (our reservation centre) to maintain a high NPS for our clients. 

Administration 

  • Ensure the maintenance and efficiency of our sales technology. We use Zoho, N2Pricing and more. 
  • Works seamlessly with the Sales, Marketing, Revenue and Reservations management teams. 
  • Maintains regular and effective communication with all hotels and ROAR while working with Operations and the VP of Marketing, Communications & Sales to bolster opportunities. 
  • Leads the coordination efforts with local and provincial tourism initiatives to ensure we are leaders in the industry. 
  • Active community ambassador for Accent Inns Inc. in the communities within which we work. 

 

What You Bring 

  • A rich background in the hotel industry with experience in senior sales management. 
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Hotel Management degree is an asset. 
  • Understanding of how Revenue Management strategies are implemented in hotels/hospitality. 
  • Knowledgeable in data analysis. 
  • Excellent communications skills - interpersonal, written, presentations, etc. 
  • A proven record of results-oriented leadership and team development. 
  • Well versed and comfortable with MS Office, Property Management systems and other sales software.

What to expect

  • Second Interview (60min): Meet with Noah our VP of P&C and Trina our VP of Marketing, Communications and Sales to discuss your technical expertise, what the role will look like long term, and answer more of your questions.  
  • Final Interview (45min): Meet with Chris our President for a final discussion around why we are bringing this role in house, the value we place on it, answer more questions about expertise and value alignment and give you an opportunity to ask questions of our President.
