ThunderVolt is now open at Playland! The opening day of ThunderVolt, this past weekend, was an incredibly significant day for us, one that is years in the making. With the historic Wooden Coaster located directly next to the ThunderVolt, Playland is home to a very unique paring – one of the world’s best historic coasters and now Canada’s fastest state-of-the-art launch coaster. We would like to applaud our team for their tireless work over the last couple years to get us to this day. The project management team, marketing team, our Playland technical and operations teams brought this to life today. We would also like to thank our amazing partners at Zamperla and our construction team including our partners at Jacob Brothers. Welcome to Playland, ThunderVolt!

ThunderVolt....Canada's fastest new launch coaster came to life in Playland today. The most significant investment in Playland’s history and a transformational addition to the vibrant future and evolution of Playland....open to the public tomorrow at 11 am....oh and it even has its own beer! Thanks to great partners like Zamperla, global leaders in roller coaster design, Jacob Bros construction crews and our incredible PNE team - PMO project managers, marketing team, Playland technical team and operational teams. This was 2+ years in the making. And a MUST do experience in Vancouver. PNE partners with Freedom Mobile for naming rights of new amphitheatre. Today, at the official sod turning ceremony to celebrate the highly anticipated new amphitheatre, PNE President and CEO Shelley Frost was joined by BC Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport Lana Popham, Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim, Councillor Wilson Williams of the Squamish First Nation and Pierre Karl Peladeau, President and CEO, Quebecor as well as local tourism and business leaders at a celebration to announce the building’s new naming rights partner, Freedom Mobile. As the new amphitheatre is anticipated to be an entertainment hub for generations of British Columbians into the future, Freedom Mobile has decided to engage the people of BC in selecting the official new name for the venue. Members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite name at https://www.pne.ca/poll/ starting May 24. The new name will be revealed following the public vote. “Today, following an extensive nation-wide call for proposals, we welcome Freedom Mobile as the naming rights partner for our spectacular new outdoor covered music venue,” said Shelley Frost. “This partnership brings together two organizations who are both clearly committed to being the home of incredible experiences for Vancouverites, British Columbians and guests from around the world.”
