ISA Cybersecurity is actively monitoring the recent issue with CrowdStrike's "Falcon Sensor" software that affected many Windows systems on July 19, 2024. CrowdStrike has confirmed that this is not a result of a cyber attack. The software issue causing the problem has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed. CrowdStrike has published details on the nature of the incident, and workaround steps for individual endpoints, virtual machines, and cloud systems here: https://hubs.li/Q02HjgyY0 ⚠️Warning: Avoid using instructions from other sources as they may be published by threat actors seeking to take advantage of the current situation. To prevent being victimized by a social engineering attack, be sure to verify that you are referencing the actual CrowdStrike website and that you confirm the identity of any support technician online. We’re here to help: ISA Cybersecurity’s systems and service delivery are not impacted by this event. Our support staff are available 24x7 to assist with any cybersecurity questions or issues you may have. #ISACyberTips IoT device security is a big issue for industry sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, and retail, but can be a concern for any organization. You likely have inter-connected devices for physical security monitoring, building automation controls like HVAC, and general office equipment - any of which may be connected to the Internet. When securing your network and more traditional endpoints, consider these tips to help secure IoT devices too: 🔶 Security by design during device acquisition: Right from the start, consider security before purchasing new equipment, devices, or systems. Change all default security settings, and implement robust authentication and encryption protocols with strong passwords, multi-factor authentication, and encryption. If the devices don't support security, consider alternatives that won't expose you to heightened risk. 🔶 Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all IoT devices across the enterprise: Unmanaged devices are a major security risk, so having a comprehensive inventory is crucial to help manage, patch, and update your devices. Regularly update IoT device firmware and software to address known vulnerabilities and security flaws, and maintain a schedule of support horizons and end-of-support windows to allow you to plan, prioritize and budget for upgrades and replacements. 🔶 Isolate and segment IoT devices from critical systems and data: Use network segmentation and zero trust principles to limit unauthorized access and prevent lateral movement if a device is compromised. 🔶 Implement physical security measures: protect IoT sensors and devices from unauthorized access, physical tampering or manipulation. 🔶 Provide comprehensive security training and awareness: be sure that all staff - including part-time or seasonal personnel - are well-educated in security best practices. Adopt a "see something, say something" philosophy: your people are an important first line of defence for cybersecurity. Looking for more information on how to secure the IoT devices in your organization? Contact ISA Cybersecurity today to learn more: https://hubs.li/Q02Gf8xC0 Stay tuned for more cyber tips! #CyberTip #IoT #IoTDeviceSecurity

ISA Cybersecurity provides an essential service and we are fighting against people trying to commit atrocious acts. It’s incredible how united all staff across our organization are in their efforts to keep people safe from cyber threats. Melissa: ISA has fostered an open, fun, and collaborative culture that encourages different perspectives in any engagement. Our “Why” is truly instilled in every part of the organization which means everyone comes to the table with the same objective – keep people safe from cyber threats. 🔶 Why clients should choose ISA Cybersecurity: Lindsay: Our coordinated, expertly trained, and experienced team is your best defense against the barrage of cyber attacks. We’re constantly researching, evolving and improving our services to ensure our clients can stay cyber safe, plus our team is pretty great! 🔶 Tip for practicing effective cybersecurity: Lindsay: While digitization can provide dramatic improvements to our lives, it also opens us up to vulnerability. Embed a cyber secure mindset into planning across your organization. Melissa: Educate, simulate, and test your employees! It informs them about the latest scams targeting businesses, and also helps them recognize potential threats in their personal lives. 🔶 Fun fact: Lindsay: I've lived and worked in 4 countries and love learning about different cultures. Melissa: I’m an adventure seeker and calculated risk taker – from bungee jumping to mountain biking and downhill skiing to starting my own business.
