You’ve read every article about the state of dating. You’ve heard your friends’ dating horror stories (and shared some of your own). You’re stuck in an endless cycle of downloading, deleting and (reluctantly) redownloading Hinge, Bumble and Tinder. You’ve even considered quitting dating altogether because you’d rather stay at home than sit through another mediocre date with a man who only talks about himself. But there’s actually never been a better time to be single and we’re calling it now: this summer is for the single girls. Voluntary celibacy is making a comeback (looking at you, Julia Fox), and women are reclaiming power over their love lives by going boy-sober or going old-school by swapping out dating apps for matchmakers, speed-dating and making the first move IRL. That’s why we wrote these five stories to help kick-start your very own Single Girl Summer. From high-achieving women navigating the dating scene, to our Girlboss Daily readers telling us why they’re choosing to be celibate, to even tapping an expert at Tinder to debunk the whole “dating apps are dead” discourse, Single Girl Summer is here. And it’s a hot one. https://lnkd.in/ejuwm9_J

"How do you ask for a raise when you find out that your less-qualified coworker is making more than you?" 😬 Last week, Girlboss' general manager answered this question on Girlboss Daily (if you're not yet subscribed, you're missing out!). And the answer? Use it to fuel your next salary negotiation, let's break it down: 👥 Talk to your manager: You have to address it right away, otherwise you'll grow to resent your work and become unhappy. 🙋♀️ Keep it about you, not your coworker. Your coworker's salary is just the catalyst, you need to negotiate for yourself and what you believe you're worth! 📈 Lean on concrete performance data to quantify your contributions. Share key wins and any additional responsibilities you've taken on recently. Put it in writing and schedule your meeting. Don't use "I feel underpaid compared to [your coworker] and it's not fair." Negotiations happen in two stages. You negotiate with yourself first before you even have that conversation with your boss. Here are some questions to ask yourself: "What do I need?" "What's hard for me about asking for a raise?" "What support do I need to make myself feel more prepared?" "How have I done something like this successfully before?"

We've rounded up your favorite episodes from Girlboss Radio season three, bringing you some of the best and most interesting conversations, stories, and advice. ✨ 1️⃣ "Here's the thing. Discomfort is uncomfortable, obviously. It becomes slightly more comfortable when there's other people to be uncomfortable with." — Lilly Singh https://lnkd.in/gV_Gaqrv 2️⃣ "When men express anger, people trust them more and think they're leaders. But when a woman does the same thing, people dislike her, distrust her and feel alienated from her. Even if anger is the right response." — Soraya Chemaly https://lnkd.in/g6ASPs2M 3️⃣ "Fifty percent of people who come in to see me, who think they have a vaginal odor, don't. It's always because some awful man said something to them." — Dr. Jen Gunter https://lnkd.in/gYqbYbwy 4️⃣ "Divorce feels like a radical opportunity for reinvention. It's like the barn's burned down and now I can see the moon." — James Sexton, Divorce Lawyer https://lnkd.in/gQH6QATD 5️⃣ "I find it hard to believe that a lot of Black women can just walk into a corporate environment and take on a lazy girl job. I don't think it's accessible to anyone." — Avery Francis https://lnkd.in/gfC4t3VH

We’ve all felt like an outsider at one point—Ciera Rogers wants you to use it to your advantage. Ciera grew up houseless on the streets of Houston, Texas, in her mom’s Jeep. Then, with just $10, she moved to LA, lived off of her friend’s couch and started posting her thrifted and vintage clothes for sale on Instagram. And this is how Babes was born in 2012. She pivoted from vintage to curve-friendly basics when she noticed a gap in the market. Yup, this was way before Skims was even a thing. Today, Babes has hit seven figures and has been worn by Kim Kardashian and even championed by Beyoncé. Ciera has been featured as "the designer to watch" in media outlets including Galore, Black Enterprise, Elle South Africa and others. Ciera is now a homeowner, and her debut memoir, called The Outsider Advantage, tells her story of resilience, determination and entrepreneurial grit. Tune in now to this season's second-last episode of Girlboss Radio! 🎧 https://lnkd.in/ggtNX-aA

Be honest with yourself. Do you love your LinkedIn banner? 👀 If your answer is: “Yeah, I guess,” “I’m ok with it,” or straight-up, “No,” then keep reading. 👋 Victoria here, Girlboss’ senior writer, and I can personally say my old LinkedIn banner was just OK. It’s from a photoshoot I did a few years ago, and it’s just a weirdly-cropped picture of me typing on my laptop. Thank you, next! So, I did what I always do when I need a creative refresh: opened up the Adobe Express mobile app, now equipped with Adobe Firefly generative AI technology, and got to work. ✨ Below is a video of me using Adobe Express to design my brand-new LinkedIn banner – showing just how quick and easy it is to create almost anything on the app, even on-the-go! I’ll break it down here, too: ✂️ No need to guess the dimensions of a LinkedIn banner (isn’t it so annoying when you upload an image and it crops all funny?). Adobe Express has a ton of options for built-in “LinkedIn profile cover” templates for this very task! No pesky cropping needed. 📦 I store all of my professional headshots, color palettes, fonts, backgrounds and design assets in my personal Brand Kit, so I can drag and drop the different elements with ease and ensure visual consistency across my socials. 👻 In one click, I’m able to remove the background from all my headshots (look how perfect that outlining is!), so they really pop against the pretty watercolor background. 🪄 If you want to create even more design magic, the easy-to-use Adobe Firefly generative AI tools—like Generative Fill (insert, remove or replace objects and backgrounds with a simple text description), Text to Image (type in a few descriptive words and instantly generate a custom image from scratch) and Text Effects (generate custom 3D texts that grab your attention)—can help bring your creative vision to life! Ready to level-up your LinkedIn banner (and more) and discover all the creative possibilities? Download the Adobe Express mobile app, now available on iOS and Android. Head to adobe.com/express or your app store today. https://lnkd.in/eVbiu7Sv

Time blocks are a way to a maximize your productivity. Here are four different type of time blocks you can use right now in your calendar: 🏄🏻♀️ 1. Activity time block: Activity time blocks are ones where the focus is on one activity. This could be a head down, deep work session, a workout class, or a hangout with a friend. Use this time block as a way to intentionally block out moments in your week to get to the things that really matter to you, otherwise life will pass you by. Brainstorm the non-negotiable activities you want to set aside time for. Some examples are: time for yourself, sleep/naps, dates, nature, movement, breaks, deep-work and decision-making. 🪴 2. Routine time blocks: You need to have pre-set routines so when you’re tired, you can fall back on the decisions you made when you were a better version of yourself. Some are daily and others are weekly/monthly. The routines you’ll create for yourself are made for you to: a) rely on so you don’t reinvent the wheel every time you go through a process b) to fall back on when life gets wild and you don’t have the energy to make decisions anymore. Some of our favorite routines are: wind-down routine, night-time routine, everything shower routine, low-energy routine 🍪 3. Task-batch time block: The task-batch time block is your best tool if you want to a) start saving loads of time and b) stop dreading the tasks and actually get into a flow. In terms of what type of time block saves you the most time, it’s this one. There’s nothing more time consuming than starting something, and if we’re out there doing the same task at different times, we waste all that start/stop time. Some tasks that are great to batch together are: invoicing, filming content, emails/DM replies, admin, customer service. 🎀 4. Combo: Using these in combination will really maximize your time. Productivity hangouts are a great example of combining different time blocks together. Maximize your time by combining different time blocks together. Something we like to do? Productivity hangouts. Productivity hangouts are basically just pairing friend hangouts with tasks you need to do. Example: Hang-out at your friend’s place and have a catch up while they clean and you reply to emails. Blending hangouts with productivity can be a game-changer, especially as adult life gets busier. ⏰ Want to know how you can start incorporating these time blocks in your day-to-day routines? Jésabel DC from The Lifestyle Lab teaches you how in The Life Planner Class, and we're giving it away for *FREE* to one lucky winner! You'll also get a private, 1-hour session with Jésabel to talk all things organization and time management. Hit the link below to enter now, giveaway ends soon!! https://lnkd.in/g9KVyQJ6

“I'm incredibly persistent, and I have a pretty high threshold for being uncomfortable. That's definitely what I credit my success with.” — Laney Crowell, CEO and Founder of Saie 💜 Laney never thought she’d start a beauty brand. She was an assistant at Lucky magazine, went through *seven* rounds of interviews to be Anna Wintour’s assistant before becoming an executive at Estée Lauder and then starting her own blog, The Moment, all before Saie came about! (Um, talk about an impressive list of achievements!) This week’s episode of Girlboss Radio highlights the importance of action (even if you don’t have all the answers yet), whether or not she experiences imposter syndrome (the answer might surprise you) and why we should all have “expanders” in our career.
