phew - what a month that was. 5 cities of customer feedback and strategy on #AIED. thank you to everyone who joined and participated. last month, I had the pleasure of hanging out with with Docebo customers in Charlotte, DC, NY, Seattle and San Fran to discuss and share insights about #artificialintelligence for learning. here are three big takeaways. 1️⃣ 🧠 you do so much more than content creation. you want your AI products and services to meet you where you're at. sometimes that's facilitating a skills-based learning program. sometimes that's driving personalization for learners. sometimes it's just dealing with messy metadata. scope creep is unreal for L&D and AI should do way more for you than just building a course (that needs significant rework) in 5 minutes. 2️⃣ 👨🎓 AI may not be ready for direct-learner use cases. learners trust their content too much, and if AI-generated content includes hallucinations (narrator: they do), then learners are the least capable of spotting that, and may instead run with false information that a human never wrote. there are novel new innovations like retrieval augmented generation (RAG) that can help mitigate this, but enterprises don't have the knowledge management hygiene YET to do this at scale (see comments for an excellent research paper on this) 3️⃣ ⚒ if all you have is a hammer - everything looks like a nail. Look, chatGPT 4o is great. it represents a massive accomplishment with its raw computing horsepower and flexibility. but we're currently in a golden era of competition among the frontier models, which is driving massive innovation and specialization across multiple models on a weekly basis. learning platforms with modular backends that support multiple LLMs (based on tasks) are going to provide a ton of scalability and effectiveness. In all the chats I had with L&D practitioners and leaders, these are the ideas that had a huge resonance.
