Baffinland would like to thank the people of Pond Inlet who visited our booth at the Arctic Co-op last week, to learn more about the upcoming 2024 shipping season and to ask questions about the Mary River Project. Members of Baffinland’s Sustainable Development and Northern Affairs teams were also pleased to meet with the Mittimatalik Hunters and Trappers Organization (MHTO) and the Hamlet Council, to discuss the shipping season, as well as our Sustaining Operations Proposal 2 (SOP2) to continue shipping 6 million tonnes of iron ore, and our plans to build a railway south to Steensby Inlet. Baffinland is committed to community consultation, Inuit participation, and transparency. If you would like to get daily updates on all vessel activity along the Northern Shipping Route once the shipping season begins, please like and follow our NEW Shipping Facebook page here: https://bit.ly/3XX7wAb. ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᖁᔭᓕᔪᒪᔪᑦ ᒥᑦᑎᒪᑕᓕᖕᒥᐅᓂᒃ ᖃᐃᓚᐅᖅᑐᓂᒃ ᑯᐊᐸᒃᑯᓐᓃᑎᓪᓗᑕ ᐱᓇᓱᐊᕈᓯᐅᓚᐅᖅᑐᒥ, ᐃᓕᑦᑎᑲᓐᓂᕈᒪᒍᕕᑦ ᐅᒥᐊᕐᔪᐊᖃᕐᓇᐅᓂᐊᖅᑐᒥ 2024-ᒥ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐊᐱᖅᑯᑎᒃᓴᖃᕈᕕᑦ ᓄᓘᔮᑉ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᕕᐊᑕ ᒥᒃᓵᓄᑦ. ᐃᓚᒋᔭᐅᔪᑦ ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᑲᔪᓰᓐᓇᕈᓐᓇᖅᑐᒃᑯᑦ ᐱᕙᓪᓕᐊᑎᑦᑎᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐅᑭᐅᖅᑕᖅᑐᓕᕆᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᖃᑎᒌᑦ ᖁᕕᐊᓱᑦᑎᐊᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᑲᑎᒪᖃᑎᖃᕆᐊᒃᓴᖅ ᒥᑦᑎᒪᑕᓕᖕᒥ ᐊᖑᓇᓱᒃᑐᓕᕆᔨᒃᑯᓐᓂᑦ (MHTO) ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᕼᐋᒪᓚᒃᑯᑦ ᑲᑎᒪᔨᖏᓐᓂᒃ, ᐅᖃᖃᑎᒌᒍᓐᓇᖁᓪᓗᑕ ᐅᒥᐊᖅᔪᐊᖃᕐᓇᐅᓂᐊᖅᑐᒥᒃ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗᑦᑕᐅᖅ ᑲᔪᓰᓐᓇᕈᓐᓇᖅᑐᒥᒃ ᐊᐅᓚᓂᖃᕐᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐱᔪᒪᓇᓲᑎ 2 (SOP2) ᐊᐅᓪᓚᖅᑎᑦᑎᖃᑦᑕᐃᓐᓇᖁᓪᓗᒋᑦ 6 ᒥᓕᐊᓐ ᑕᓐᓯᓂᒃ ᓴᕕᒃᓴᓂᒃ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐸᕐᓇᐅᑎᕗᑦ ᓴᓇᔭᐅᓂᒃᓴᖓᓄᑦ ᓄᓇᓯᐅᑎᑯᑖᒃᓴᐅᑉ ᐊᖅᑯᑎᑯᑖᒃᓴᖓᓂᒃ ᓂᒋᐊᒍᑦ ᐃᒃᐱᑭᑦᑐᕐᔪᐊᓄᑦ. ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐊᖏᖅᓯᒪᑦᑎᐊᖅᑐᑦ ᓄᓇᓕᖕᓄᑦ ᑐᓴᕋᓱᐊᕐᓂᕐᓂᒃ, ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᐃᓚᐅᓗᑎᒃ, ᐊᒻᒪ ᐊᔾᔨᒌᒃᑎᑦᑎᓂᕐᒥᒃ. ᖃᐅᑕᒫᑦ ᑐᓴᖅᑎᑕᐅᖃᑦᑕᕈᒪᒍᕕᑦ ᑐᓴᒐᒃᓴᓂᒃ ᐅᒥᕐᔪᐊᓗᒃᑖᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᓂᖏᓐᓄᑦ ᐅᐊᖕᓇᖓᓂ ᐅᒥᐊᕐᔪᐊᑦ ᐊᖅᑯᑖᓂ ᐅᒥᐊᕐᔪᐊᖃᕐᓇᖅᓯᒍᓂ, ᐊᑏ ᐱᐅᒋᓗᒍ ᒪᓕᒡᓗᒍᓗ ᓄᑖᖅ ᐅᒥᐊᕐᔪᐊᖃᕐᓇᒧᑦ ᕙᐃᔅᐳᒃᑯᑦ ᑎᑎᕋᖅᓯᕕᒃ ᐅᕘᓇ: https://bit.ly/3XX7wAb. Please join Baffinland in wishing all Nunavummiut a Happy #NunavutDay. Today, July 9th, we celebrate unique Inuit culture, and revisit great moments in the territory’s history. We commemorate the creation of the territory, as well as the signing of the Nunavut Act and the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. Festive events will be held across the territory, including at Mary River and Milne Inlet, to showcase traditional Inuit knowledge, art and customs, and to foster pride in Nunavut’s achievements, while promoting Indigenous rights and reconciliation. Nunavut Day is also an opportunity to educate other Canadians about the vital contributions of the Inuit people to Canada, and to embrace the territory’s official motto, ‘Nunavut, Our Strength.’ Baffinland joins all Nunavummiut in celebrating their rich culture, history, and deep love of the land. ᐃᓚᓕᐅᑎᒋᑦ ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᖁᕕᐊᓱᖁᔨᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥᐅᓕᒫᓂᒃ ᓄᓇᕘᑉ ᐅᓪᓗᖓᓂ. ᐅᓪᓗᒥ, ᔪᓚᐃ 9, ᖁᕕᐊᓲᑎᖃᕐᓂᐊᖅᑐᒍᑦ ᐊᔾᔨᐅᖏᑦᑐᓂᒃ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᐱᖅᑯᓯᖏᓐᓂᒃ, ᐃᖅᑲᐅᒪᑎᓪᓗᑕ ᐊᓕᐊᓇᐃᑦᑐᓂᒃ ᖁᕕᐊᓇᑦᑎᐊᖅᑐᓂᒃ ᓄᓇᕘᑉ ᐊᑐᖅᓯᒪᔭᕕᓂᖏᓐᓂᒃ. ᐃᖅᑲᐅᒪᑦᑎᐊᖅᑕᕗᑦ ᓴᖅᑭᑕᐅᓚᐅᖅᑎᓪᓗᒍ ᓄᓇᕗᑦ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗᑦᑕᐅᖅ ᐊᑎᓕᐅᖅᑕᐅᓂᖓ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥ ᐱᖁᔭᑦ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥ ᓄᓇᑖᕈᑏᓪᓗ ᐊᖏᕈᑎᑦ. ᖃᓄᐃᓕᐅᕈᑏᑦ ᖁᕕᐊᓲᑎᖃᕐᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᓄᓇᕗᓗᒃᑖᒥ ᐊᑐᖅᑕᐅᓂᐊᖅᑐᑦ, ᐱᖃᓯᐅᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᓄᓘᔮᖕᓂ ᕿᙳᐊᓂᓗ, ᓴᖅᑭᔮᖅᑎᑦᑎᓗᑎᒃ ᐱᖅᑯᓯᕐᓂᒃ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᖃᐅᔨᒪᔭᖏᓐᓂᒃ, ᓴᓇᙳᐊᒐᓂᒃ ᐊᒻᒪ ᐃᓕᖅᑯᓯᕐᓂᒃ, ᖁᕕᐊᓲᑎᖃᕐᓗᑎᒡᓗ ᓄᓇᕘᑉ ᐊᓂᒍᖅᓯᒪᔭᖏᓐᓂᒃ, ᐱᔪᒥᓴᐃᓯᓐᓈᕐᓗᑎᒃ ᓄᓇᖃᖅᑳᖅᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᐱᔪᓐᓇᐅᑎᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᐋᕿᒋᐊᕈᑎᖃᕐᓂᖏᓐᓂᓪᓗ. ᓄᓇᕘᑉ ᐅᓪᓗᖓ ᐱᕕᒃᓴᐅᕆᔭᐅᖕᒥᔪᖅ ᐃᓕᓐᓂᐊᖅᑎᑦᑎᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᑲᓇᑕᒥᐅᓂᒃ ᐃᑲᔫᑎᖃᖅᓯᒪᓪᓚᕆᖕᓂᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᑲᓇᑕᒥ, ᖁᕕᐊᒋᓗᒍᓗ ᓄᓇᕘᑉ ᐅᖃᐅᓯᖅᑕᖓ, “ᓄᓇᕗᑦ, ᓴᓂᕗᑦ.” ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐃᓚᐅᓂᐊᖅᑐᑦ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥᐅᓕᒫᑦ ᖁᕕᐊᓲᑎᖃᖅᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᐱᖅᑯᓯᑦᑎᐊᕙᖕᒥᒃ, ᐊᑐᖅᓯᒪᓂᑯᓂᒃ, ᐊᒻᒪ ᐱᐅᒃᓴᓪᓚᕆᖕᓂᒃᒧᑦ ᓄᓇᒥᒃ.

The shipping season is quickly approaching, and members of Baffinland’s Sustainable Development and Northern Affairs teams will be visiting Pond Inlet this week, to address any questions about the upcoming season. Yesterday, the Baffinland team provided a shipping update on the local radio. Community members are invited to meet the team at the Pond Inlet Co-op today, July 3, from 10 am to 12 pm, to ask their questions about the Mary River Project. Baffinland also looks forward to meeting with the Mittimatalik Hunters and Trappers Organization (MHTO) and the Hamlet Council during their visit to discuss the Shipping Season, our Sustaining Operations Proposal 2 (SOP2) for continuing to ship 6 million tonnes of iron ore, and our plans to build a railway south to Steensby Inlet. Baffinland’s shipping season only begins after specific conditions are met, including confirmation that the floe edge is closed. Again this year, like previous years, we will implement all the same mitigation measures including restricting our vessels to an industry-leading 9 knot speed limit, to further reduce the impact of our activities on marine mammals. We are listening. ᐅᒥᐊᕐᔪᐊᖃᕐᓇᖅ ᖃᒡᓕᕙᓪᓕᐊᓪᓚᕆᓕᖅᑎᓪᓗᒍ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐃᓚᒋᔭᐅᔪᑦ ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᑲᔪᓰᓐᓇᕈᓐᓇᖅᑐᒃᑯᑦ ᐱᕙᓪᓕᐊᑎᑦᑎᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐅᑭᐅᖅᑕᖅᑐᓕᕆᔩᓪᓗ ᐳᓛᕆᐊᕐᓂᐊᓕᖅᑐᑦ ᒥᑦᑎᒪᑕᓕᖕᒧᑦ ᐱᓇᓱᐊᕈᓯᐅᔪᒥ ᑕᒪᑐᒪᓂ, ᐊᐱᖅᑯᑎᒃᓴᖅᑕᖃᕐᒪᖔᑦ ᖃᐅᔨᒋᐊᕐᓗᑎ ᐅᒥᐊᕐᔪᐊᖃᕐᓇᐅᓂᐊᖅᑐᒧᑦ. ᐃᑉᐸᒃᓴᖅ, ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᓐᓂ ᐱᓕᕆᖃᑎᒌᑦ ᑐᓴᒐᒃᓴᖃᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᐅᒥᐊᕐᔪᐊᕐᓇᒧᑦ ᓄᓇᓕᖕᓂ ᓈᓚᐅᑎᖃᕐᕕᖓᒍᑦ. ᓄᓇᖃᖅᑐᑦ ᐃᓚᐅᖁᔭᐅᔪᑦ ᑲᑎᖃᑎᖃᕐᓗᑎ ᐱᓕᕆᖃᑎᒌᓂ ᒥᑦᑎᒪᑕᓕᖕᒥ ᑯᐊᐸᒃᑯᓂ ᐅᓪᓗᒥ, ᔪᓚᐃ 3, 10-ᒥ ᐅᓪᓚᒃᑯ 12-ᒧᑦ ᐅᓐᓄᒃᓴᒧᑦ, ᐊᐱᖅᓱᕐᓗᑎᒃ ᓄᓘᔭᖕᓂ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᕕᖕᒥ ᐱᓕᕆᐊᖑᔫᑉ ᒥᒃᓵᓄᑦ. ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐ ᓂᕆᐅᑦᑎᐊᖅᑐᑦ ᑲᑎᖃᑎᖃᕈᒪᓪᓗᑎ ᒥᑦᑎᒪᑕᓕᖕᒥ ᐊᖑᓇᓱᒃᑐᓕᕆᔨᒃᑯᓐᓂ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᕼᐋᒪᓚᒃᑯᑦ ᑲᑎᒪᔨᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᐳᓛᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᓐᓂ ᐅᖃᐅᓯᖃᕕᒪᓪᓗᑎᒃ ᐅᒥᐊᕐᔪᐊᖃᕐᓇᐅᓂᐊᖅᑐᒥᒪᓪᓗᑎᒃ, ᑲᔪᓰᓐᓇᕈᓐᓇᖅᑐᒥᒃ ᐊᐅᓚᓂᖃᕐᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐱᔪᒪᓇᓲᑎ 2-ᒥ ᐊᐅᓪᓚᖅᑎᑦᑎᖃᑦᑕᐃᓐᓇᕈᒪᓪᓗᑎᒃ 6 ᒥᓕᐊᓐ ᑕᓐᓯᓂᒃ ᓴᕕᒃᓴᓂ, ᐸᕐᓇᐅᑎᕗᓪᓗ ᓴᓇᔪᒪᑎᓪᓗᑕ ᓄᓇᓯᐅᑎᑯᑖᒃᓴᐅᑉ ᐊᖅᑯᑎᑯᑖᒃᓴᖓᓂᒃ ᐃᒃᐱᑭᑦᑐᕐᔪᓂ.  ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐅᒥᐊᕐᔪᐊᖃᑦᑕᕐᓂᖓ ᐱᒋᐊᕋᔭᖅᑐᖅ ᑭᓯᐊᓂ ᓇᓕᐊᓪᓚᑦᑖᑦ ᖃᓄᐃᓕᖓᓂᐅᔪᑦ ᑎᑭᑕᐅᓯᒪᓕᕈᑎᒃ, ᐱᖃᓯᐅᑎᓪᓗᒍ ᓇᓗᓇᐃᖅᑕᐅᓗᓂ ᓯᓈᖓ ᒪᑐᓯᒪᓕᕐᓂᖓᓂᒃ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᓯᑯᖃᕐᓂᖓ 3/10 ᑐᖔᓃᒃᑯᓂᓘᓐᓃᑦ ᑕᐅᕘᓇ ᐅᒥᐊᕐᔪᐊᑦ ᐊᖅᑯᑖᒍᑦ. ᑕᐃᒪᓐᓇᔅᓇᐃᓐᓇᖅ ᑕᒪᑐᒪᓂ ᐊᕐᕌᒍᒥ, ᐊᕐᕌᒎᓯᒪᔪᑎᑐᑦ, ᐊᑐᓕᖅᑎᑦᑎᓂᐊᖅᑐᖑᑦ ᐊᑕᖏᕐᓗᒋᑦ ᑖᒃᑯᐊᑦᑕᐃᓐᓇᐃᑦ ᐸᓚᐅᒪᑎᑦᑎᓇᓲᑎᓂᒃ ᐱᖃᓯᐅᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᑭᒡᓕᖃᖅᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᐅᒥᐊᕐᔪᐊᑦ ᓴᓇᕝᕕᖕᓂ-ᓯᕗᓪᓕᖅᐸᐅᓪᓗᑎᒃ 9 ᓈᑦᓂᒃ ᓱᒃᑲᓕᓂᖃᕈᓐᓇᖅᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ, ᐊᒃᑐᐃᓗᐊᙱᓐᓂᖅᓴᐅᖁᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᓂᖅᐳᑦ ᑕᕆᐅᒥ ᐳᐃᔨᓄᑦ. ᓈᓚᒃᑐᒍᑦ.  Government of Nunavut Nunavut Impact Review Board

Please join us in wishing everyone a Happy Canada Day! On this national holiday, Baffinland celebrates the diversity of all Canadians – those who arrived here from all over the world, and the Indigenous People who have been here for millennia. As we walk together on the path to reconciliation, we acknowledge that for many, this is a day to reflect on the troubled past, while also celebrating their achievements and hopes for the future. ᐃᓚᐅᖃᑕᐅᓂᐊᖅᐳᓯ ᑭᒃᑯᓕᒫᑦ ᖁᕕᐊᓱᖁᓗᒋᑦ ᑲᓇᑕᐅᑉ ᐅᓪᓗᖓᓂ! ᑕᒪᑐᒪᓂ ᕿᑲᕐᓇᒥ, ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᖁᕕᐊᓲᑎᖃᖅᑐᑦ ᐊᔾᔨᒌᖏᕈᓗᔮᖅᑐᓂ ᑲᓇᑕᒥᐅᓕᒫᓂᒃ − ᑖᑯᐊ ᑎᑭᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᑕᒪᐅᖓ ᓇᑭᕈᓘᔭᖅ ᓄᓇᕐᔪᐊᒥᖔᖅᑐᑦ, ᓄᓇᖃᖅᑳᖅᓯᒪᔪᐃᓪᓗ ᑕᒫᓂᑦᑐᑐᖃᐃᑦ ᐊᕐᕌᒍᒐᓴᒡᔪᐊᓄᑦ. ᐱᓱᖃᑎᒌᒃᑎᓪᓗᑕ ᐊᖅᑯᑎᒃᑯᑦ ᐋᕿᖃᑎᒌᖕᓂᕐᒧᑦ, ᓇᓗᓇᐃᖅᓯᒪᔭᕗᑦ ᐊᒥᓱᓄᑦ, ᑖᓐᓇ ᐅᓪᓘᕗᖅ ᐃᓱᒪᒋᓗᒋᑦ ᐊᑲᐅᙱᓪᓕᐅᕈᑕᐅᕙᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ, ᖁᕕᐊᓲᑎᖃᖅᖢᑕᓪᓗ ᐱᔭᕇᖅᓯᒪᑦᑎᐊᕐᓂᖏᓐᓄᑦ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᓂᕆᐅᖕᓂᖃᕐᓂᕐᒥᒃ ᓯᕗᓂᒃᓴᒧᑦ.

Baffinland employees celebrated National Indigenous Peoples Day (NIPD) last Friday with traditional Inuit games and country food at Mary River and Milne Inlet. Both site locations were filled with laughter as participants played the Yarn Game, the Sock Game, Hot Potato, Tuktu, Tuugaalik and Tulugaq.. We’d like to extend a special thank you to everyone who worked so hard on the NIDP celebrations at Site. Hannah Oolayou, Inuit Cultural Advisor at Mary River, prepared delicious seafood chowder, baked Arctic char, Beluga and Musk Ox jerky, plus two types of bannock. Hannah also opened the festivities with the ceremonial lighting of the Qulliq. At Milne Inlet, the celebrations were led by Angel Tassugat, HR Advisor, who also prepared delicious Musk Ox, Caribou soup, and frozen Caribou and bannock. Baffinland is committed to incorporating Inuit culture into every aspect of our operation and we’re grateful to the teams who made this celebration a success. ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐃᖅᑲᓇᐃᔭᖅᑎᖏᑦ ᖁᕕᐊᓲᑎᖃᓚᐅᖅᑐᐃᑦ ᓄᓇᕐᔪᐊᕐᓕᒫᒥ ᓄᓇᖃᖅᑳᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᐅᓗᖓᓂ ᐅᓪᓗᑐᐃᓐᓇᐅᓚᐅᖅᑐᒥ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᐱᖑᐊᕈᓯᖏᓐᓂ ᐱᖑᐊᖅᖢᑎ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐃᓄᒃᓯᐅᑎᓂᑦ ᓂᕆᓪᓗᑎ ᓄᓘᔮᖕᓂ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᕿᖑᐊᓂ. ᑕᒪᕐᒥ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᕕᖕᒥ ᐃᒡᓚᒪᔭᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᐃᓚᐅᔪᑦ ᐱᖑᐊᖅᖢᑎᒃᓗ ᓄᕕᖅᓵᒥ, ᐊᓕᖅᓯᖕᒥ, ᐆᓇᖅᑐᒥᓪᓗ ᐸᑕᐃᑦᑐᒥ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᑐᒃᑐ, ᑑᒑᓕᒃ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᑐᓗᒐᕐᒥᒃ. ᖁᔭᓕᒃᑲᓐᓂᕈᒪᔪᒍᑦ ᑭᒃᑯᑐᐃᓐᓇ ᐱᓕᕆᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᓄᓇᕐᔪᐊᓕᒫᒥ ᓄᓇᖃᖅᑳᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᐅᓪᓗᖓᓂ ᖁᕕᐊᓲᑎᖃᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᕕᖕᒥ. ᕼᐊᓐᓇ ᐅᓛᔪ, ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᐱᖅᑯᓯᖏᓐᓂ ᐅᖃᐅᔨᒋᐊᖅᑎ ᓄᓘᔮᖕᓂ, ᓂᖅᖠᐅᓚᐅᖅᑐᖅ ᑕᕆᐅᕐᒥᐅᑕᓂ ᖃᔪᕐᒥ, ᐃᒐᐅᑉ ᐃᓗᐊᒍᑦ ᐆᑦᑎᓯᒪᔪᖅ ᐃᖃᓗᒃ, ᕿᓚᓗᒐᕐᒥ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐅᒥᖕᒪᖕᒥ ᒥᒃᑯᓂ, ᐃᓚᒃᑲᓐᓂᕐᓗᒍ ᒪᕐᕉᖕᓂ ᐊᔾᔨᒌᖏᑦᑐᓂ ᐸᓚᐅᒑᑦ. ᕼᐊᓇᑕᐅ ᐅᒃᑯᐃᖅᓯᓚᐅᖅᑐᖅ ᖁᕕᐊᓱᑎᒋᔭᐅᓂᐊᖅᑐᒥ ᐃᑭᑦᑎᓪᓗᓂ ᖁᓪᓕᕐᒥᒃ. ᕿᙳᐊᓂ, ᖁᕕᐊᓲᑎᖃᖅᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᑲᒪᒋᔭᐅᓚᐅᖅᑐᖅ ᐊᐃᓐᔪ ᑕᓱᒐᒧᑦ, ᐃᖅᑲᓇᐃᔭᖅᑐᓕᕆᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐅᖃᐅᔨᒋᐊᖅᑎᑦᑎᔨ, ᓂᖅᖠᐅᖅᖢᓂᒋᓗ ᐅᒥᖕᒪᖕᒥ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐆᔪᖅ ᑐᒃᑐ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐱᕙᒌᔭᖅᖢᓂᒋᑦ ᑐᒃᑐ ᖁᐊ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐸᓚᐅᒑᖅ. ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐ ᐊᖏᖅᓯᒪᑦᑎᐊᖅᑐᑦ ᐃᓚᓕᐅᔾᔨᓂᖅ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᐱᖅᑯᓯᖏᓐᓂ ᐊᐅᓚᓂᕆᔭᓕᒫᑦᑎᓐᓄ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐊᓕᐊᓇᐃᒍᓱᑦᑎᐊᖅᖢᑎ ᐱᓕᕆᖃᑎᒌᖕᓂ ᖁᕕᐊᓱᓗᒃᑎᑦᑎᑦᑎᐊᓚᐅᕐᓂᖏᓐᓄᑦ.

On this National Indigenous Peoples Day (#NIPD2024), please join us in honouring the outstanding achievements of Baffinland’s Inuit employees, and all Indigenous Peoples across Canada. This special day, which falls on the Summer Solstice, recognizes and celebrates the significant contributions made by First Nations, Inuit, and Métis to the identity and culture of all Canadians. Baffinland is hosting an exciting evening of cultural ceremonies, country food and traditional Inuit games for site employees at Mary River and Milne Port. Our success is built on the experience and expertise of the Inuit employees, contractors, communities and organizations we partner with. We encourage everyone to learn more about the significance of this day, and to participate in celebrating Indigenous Peoples across Canada, in the spirit of reconciliation and respect. Congratulations to Baffinland’s Mine Rescue Team (MRT) for participating in the Northern Regional Mining Competition in Yellowknife last week. We are proud of the hard work and dedication the team displayed, as they put their first responder skills to the test. They competed against three other mines in various events including First Aid, Rope Rescue, Smoke Search and Firefighting. Baffinland won the Surface First Aid Event, while Gahcho Kué Mine won the overall Surface Mine Rescue Competition. We were pleased to participate and support the two-day event, which was hosted by the Northern Mine Health and Safety Forum, and to the NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines which hosted the Miners’ Picnic. We thank all first responders for their dedication and service as well as for their willingness to help others in emergency situations. ᖁᕕᐊᓱᖃᑎᒋᕙᕗᑦ ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᕕᖕᒥ ᐃᓅᓕᒃᓯᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᖃᑎᒌᑦ ᐃᓚᐅᓚᐅᕐᓂᖏᓐᓄᑦ ᐅᑭᐅᖅᑕᖅᑐᒥ ᓄᓇᓂ ᐊᕕᒃᑐᖅᓯᒪᔪᓂ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐱᒡᒍᓴᐅᑎᔪᓂ ᔭᓗᓇᐃᕝᒥ ᐱᓇᓱᐊᕈᓯᐅᓵᖅᑐᒥ. ᐅᐱᒍᓱᒃᑐᒍᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᕐᔪᐊᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᓐᓄᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᔪᒪᑦᑎᐊᕐᓂᖏᓐᓄᓪᓗ ᐱᓕᕆᖃᑎᒌᑦ ᓴᖅᑭᔮᖅᑎᑦᑎᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ, ᐅᐸᒍᑎᖅᑳᖃᑦᑕᖅᑎᐅᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᐊᔪᙱᓕᖅᑕᐅᓲᓂᒃ ᖃᐅᔨᓴᕐᑎᓪᓗᖏᑦ. ᐱᔭᕇᖅᓯᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᐱᖓᓱᓂᒃ ᐊᓯᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᕕᖕᓂ ᐊᔾᔨᒌᙱᑦᑐᓂ ᐱᓕᕆᓂᕐᓂ ᐱᖃᓯᐅᑎᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᐋᓐᓂᖅᑐᓕᕆᓂᖅ, ᐊᒃᖢᓈᒥᒃ ᐊᑐᕐᓗᑎᒃ ᐃᓅᓕᒃᓯᓂᖅ, ᐳᔫᖅᑐᒥ ᕿᓂᕐᓂᖅ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᖃᑦᑎᕆᓂᖅ. ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᓵᓚᖃᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᖄᖓᓂ ᐋᓐᓂᖅᑐᓕᕆᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᓂᕐᒥ, ᑖᒃᑯᐊ Gahcho Kué ᓵᓚᖃᖅᖢᑎᒃ ᐊᑕᖏᖅᖢᒋᑦ ᖄᖓᓂ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐃᓅᓕᒃᓯᓂᕐᒥᒃ ᐱᒡᒍᓴᐅᑎᓂᕐᓂ. ᖁᕕᐊᓱᒃᑐᖑᑦ ᐃᓚᐅᔭᕆᐊᒃᓴᖅ ᐃᑲᔪᖅᑐᕐᓗᒍᓗ ᐅᓪᓘᖕᓄᑦ-ᒪᕐᕉᖕᓄᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᓂᖅ, ᐱᓕᕆᑎᑕᐅᓪᓗᑎᒃ ᐅᑭᐅᖅᑕᖅᑐᒥ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐋᓐᓂᐊᖃᖅᑕᐃᓕᒪᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐊᑦᑕᕐᓇᖅᑕᐃᓕᒪᓂᕐᒧᓪᓗ ᑲᑎᑎᑕᐅᓂᖅ, ᓄᓇᑦᓯᐊᒥ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥᓗ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᓂᓕᕆᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᑲᑎᑎᑦᑎᓪᓗᑎᒡᓗ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᖅᑏᑦ ᓂᕆᖃᑎᒌᖕᓂᖏᓐᓂᒃ. ᖁᔭᓕᔭᕗᑦ ᐊᑕᖏᖅᖢᒋᑦ ᐅᐹᖅᑳᓲᖑᔪᑦ ᐱᔪᒪᓂᖃᕐᓂᖏᓐᓄᑦ ᐱᔨᑦᑎᕋᕐᓂᖏᓐᓄᓪᓗ ᐊᒻᒪᓗᑦᑕᐅᖅ ᐃᑲᔪᕈᒪᓂᖃᕐᓂᖏᓐᓄᑦ ᐊᓯᒥᖕᓂᒃ ᑐᐊᕕᕐᓇᖅᑐᖃᖅᑎᓪᓗᖑ. On this International Day of Women in Mining (IDWIM), we are proud to celebrate the incredible contributions of women at Baffinland. Notably, over 30% of our Inuit employees are women, many of whom are breaking barriers by excelling in non-traditional roles. In an industry where women are globally underrepresented at the senior management level, we are especially proud that nearly 50% of Baffinland’s senior executive team are women. Their leadership and dedication are driving our company forward and setting a powerful example for the industry. #IDWIM, observed every year on June 15th, is a time to honour and celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of women in mining. While progress has been made, we acknowledge the ongoing need to further elevate and empower women throughout the industry. Baffinland is fully committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. We make it a priority to create a safe workplace where every employee is treated with equal dignity and respect. Please join us in commemorating the remarkable women shaping the mining sector and embracing this year's empowering theme: "I am Mining and I Belong." ᑕᒫᓂ ᓄᓇᕐᔪᐊᕐᒥ ᐊᕐᓇᐃᑦ ᐅᓪᓗᖓᓂ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᕕᖕᒦᓲᓂᒃ, ᐅᐱᒍᓱᒃᐳᒍᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᕐᔪᐊᖅᓯᒪᔪᓂᒃ ᐊᕐᓇᓂᒃ ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᓐᓂ. ᐅᖃᐅᓯᕆᓗᒍ, 30% ᐅᖓᑖᓃᑉᐳᑦ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᐃᖅᑲᓇᐃᔭᖅᑏᑦ ᐊᕐᓇᐅᓪᓗᑎᒃ, ᐅᓄᖅᑐᑦ ᐱᔭᐅᒐᔪᖏᑦᑐᓂᒃ ᐊᕐᓇᓄᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᐊᖑᓕᖅᐳᑦ. ᓴᓇᕕᖕᒥ ᐊᕐᓇᖅᑕᖃᐅᓗᐊᖅᐸᒃᑎᓐᓇᒍ ᐊᖓᔪᖅᑲᐅᑎᓂᒃ ᓄᓇᕐᔪᐊᒥ, ᐅᐱᒍᓱᒃᐳᒍᑦ 50%−ᖏᓐᓃᑲᓴᖕᒪᑕ ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐊᖓᔪᖅᑲᐅᑎᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᐊᕐᓇᐅᓪᓗᑎᒃ. ᑐᑭᒧᐊᒃᑎᑦᑎᓪᓗᑎᒃ ᐱᓕᕆᐊᖃᑦᑎᐊᖅᖢᑎᒡᓗ ᐱᓕᕆᐊᖑᑦᑎᐊᖁᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᓴᙱᓂᕗᑦ ᐊᔾᔨᒌᖏᑦᑐᓂᒃ ᓄᓇᕐᔪᐊᕐᒥᙶᖅᑐᓂᒃ ᑲᒻᐸᓂᑦᑎᓐᓂ. ᓄᓇᕐᔪᐊᕐᒥ ᐊᕐᓇᐃᑦ ᐅᓪᓗᖓᓂ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᕕᖕᒥ, ᓇᓗᓇᐃᖅᑕᐅᓯᒪᔪᖅ ᐊᕐᕌᒍᑕᒫᑦ ᔫᓂ 15−ᒥ, ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᕖᑦ ᖁᕕᐊᓲᑎᖃᓲᖑᕗᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᐊᖑᓯᒪᔪᓂᒃ ᐃᑲᔪᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᓐᓂᓪᓗ ᐊᕐᓇᑦ. ᐱᕚᓪᓕᖅᑎᑦᑎᓯᒪᒐᓗᐊᖅᑎᓪᓗᑕ, ᐃᓕᓴᕆᕙᕗᑦ ᐊᕐᓇᓂᒃ ᑲᔪᖏᖅᓱᐃᓲᖑᕗᒍᑦ ᐱᔪᓐᓇᖅᓯᑎᑦᑎᒃᑲᓐᓂᖅᐸᒃᖢᑕᓗ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᕕᖕᓂ, ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐊᖏᖅᓯᒪᕗᑦ ᐊᖏᖅᓯᒪᔭᖓᓂᒃ ᐊᔾᔨᒌᖏᑦᑐᓂᒃ, ᐃᖅᑲᓇᐃᔮᓪᓗ ᑭᒃᑯᑐᐃᓐᓇᓅᖓᓪᓗᑎᒃ, ᐃᓚᓕᐅᔾᔨᕙᒃᖢᑕᓗ. ᓯᕗᓪᓕᐅᑎᓲᕆᕙᕗᑦ ᓴᖅᑭᔮᖅᑎᑦᑎᓗᑕ ᐊᑦᑕᕐᓇᖏᑦᑐᒦᓐᓂᖅ ᐃᖅᑲᓇᐃᔭᖅᑎᓕᒫᑦᑎᓐᓄᑦ ᐊᔾᔨᒌᒃᑎᑕᐅᓗᑎᒃ ᐃᒃᐱᒋᔭᐅᑦᑎᐊᕐᓗᑎᒡᓗ. ᐃᖅᑲᐅᒪᓗᑎᒍᑦ ᐊᕐᓇᐃᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᕐᔪᐊᖅᓯᒪᔭᖏᑦ ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᕕᖕᒥ ᐊᕐᕌᒎᔪᒥᓪᓗ ᑲᔪᖏᖅᓱᐃᑎᓪᓗᑕ ᑕᐃᔭᐅᔪᖅ: “ᐅᔭᕋᖕᓂᐊᕐᕕᖕᒥᐅᑕᐅᕗᖓ”
