Hello from Cincinnati, Ohio! We’re rounding out the week at NAAHP 2024 with the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions, Inc. Dr. Kelly Dore shared her insights on the impact of the Situational Judgment Test (SJT) format on assessment, inclusivity, and reliability in the #HigherEd admissions process. Thanks to all who attended our breakout session and contributed to the lively discussion! • SJTs are more reliable and equitable compared to traditional tools like personal statements and reference letters. They show smaller demographic differences and are better predictors of future performance. • Different SJT response formats (Rate, Rank, Select-One, and Constructed Responses) impact performance disparities. Constructed response formats, including video responses, demonstrate higher reliability and authenticity, reducing minority-majority performance differences. • Video responses in SJTs enhance realism and reduce ambiguity. They further reduce minority-majority differences and align better with downstream evaluations, though they are harder to administer and more expensive to rate. Acuity Insights’ Casper Situational Judgment Test – built on more than 15 years of research – offers defensible data for those tough-to-measure competencies and helps to limit bias.
