Origin is the sales, downloads, and games-management platform for Windows and Mac from the studio EA. The tool is similar to Steam and aims to make a dent among users with offers and exclusive promotions like this one. There is no fine print: EA is giving away the game Battlefield 3 for PC to all users who download Origin and claim the offer there. That said, the final date to do so is tomorrow (Tuesday, June 3).

Battlefield 3 came out in October 2011 as one of the best multiplayer first-person shooter games ever released to date. Although the fourth installment was released later, Battlefield 3 is still played online by millions of players across the world, meaning if you don’t have it already, it’s a good time to get it for free, since it normally costs €19.95. Also, this is not a temporary trial version: if you get it now, you’ll have it in your catalogue forever.

Once you download and install Origin, you’ll get a login screen on startup to add your credentials. If you don’t have an Origin account, you can create one for free by clicking on the Create an Account button at the bottom and completing a few steps through the setup wizard.

After that, you can login with your username and password to access the main menu. To add Battlefield 3 to your catalogue, click on the right banner where the game cover appears with the phrase “It’s on us”.

From the game’s page, you just have to click on the yellow Get Now button, and then you’ll be able to go to the My Games tab to download and play it.
