We're excited to share a first glimpse of the official campaign for our new exhibition, 'Masquerade, Make-up & Ensor'. From September 2024, several Antwerp museums will highlight the work of Ensor. At MoMu - Fashion Museum Antwerp, James Ensor’s ideas about masquerade, (false) coquetry, seduction, deception and the transient are brought up to the present day. MoMu celebrates the painters of fashion: the craftsmanship and inexhaustible creativity of make-up and hair artists, in a multimedia exhibition in which light, colour, art, fashion and make-up come together. 'Masquerade, Make-up & Ensor' is part of Ensor 2024, a year-long programme marking 75 years since James Ensor’s death. Antwerp celebrates #Ensor2024 with exhibitions at MoMu - Fashion Museum Antwerp, FOMU - Fotomuseum Antwerpen, Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen (KMSKA) and Museum Plantin-Moretus in Antwerpen. On view from 28.09.2024 through 02.02.2025. Visit www.momu.be to buy tickets. One month left to visit 'WILLY VANDERPERRE prints, films, a rave and more...'. As the first fashion photographer to curate a solo exhibition at MoMu, Willy Vanderperre seized the opportunity to disrupt the classic exhibition model, putting together an affiliated programme. Here, he tells us what can be seen and experienced inside the exhibiton.

Opening soon — MoMu x Fashion Department! This summer and autumn, MoMu celebrates the work of the Antwerp Fashion Department students. The Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp is known for guiding its students to explore the extremes of design and art. Antwerp may be on the periphery of major fashion capitals, but the outstanding reputation of the Fashion Department attracts the majority of its students from abroad. Students learn to conceptualize, visualize and materialize a collection and an artistic identity. Since its foundation by Marie Prijot in 1963, drawing has been an essential part of the study, along with a profound exploration of materials and techniques. This exhibition brings together an assemblage of silhouettes, drawings and books – the three pillars of their study in Antwerp. Through these different media, each student develops their personal design universe. The works on display reflect who they were this year and who they want to become. 'MoMu x Fashion Department' is on view from 29.06.2024 through 10.11.2024. The 2024 MoMu Award goes to... Jinny Song and Peiwen Mao! Every year during the graduation show of the Fashion Department of Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, MoMu awards a Master's student whose collection stands out for its unique graphic language. This year, we are thrilled to present the award to Jinny Song and Peiwen Mao for their respective collections 'Mother's Milk' and 'Made in Jungle'. Congratulations, Jinny and Peiwen! The images of the winning collections will be displayed in the lightboxes at MoMu Café later this summer; moreover, an interview with the young graduates will be featured in the next issue of MoMu Magazine. Now on view at MoMu - Fashion Museum Antwerp: 'DO NOTHING CLUB', an installation by Meryll Rogge and Beni Bischof in which fashion, art and domestic objects all merge. The Belgian designer collaborated with the Swiss artist for her Spring-Summer 2023 collection, entitled 'MADE ON EARTH BY HUMANS'. Especially for MoMu, the duo joins forces once again to create this installation. Bischof’s multimedia art practice is critical and full of humour. His love-hate relationship with the fashion magazines and advertisements of his youth is an enduring source of inspiration that he intentionally seeks out, deconstructs and dismantles. Intrigued by the artist’s playful and turbulent oeuvre, Rogge was able to draw on his archive of collages, drawings and watercolours for her collection. Bischof, in turn, was able to collaborate on the prints for some unique collection pieces, such as an organza top with the words ‘people grow to be strangers’ and a dress in lurex faille with Disney characters from Bambi. Discover the installation in the collection presentation through May 2025. Plan your visit at www.momu.be Installation: Courtesy Beni Bischof, PLUS-ONE Gallery & Meryll Rogge
