European Visual Practitioners

We had a great time at the EVP July Cocktail last Friday! It was a fun and engaging session that kicked off with a warm-up exercise, where we drew people in the meeting room. This activity helped us get our creative juices flowing and set the tone for the afternoon. One of the highlights of was the collective storytelling activity. With the help of a prompt (thank you for your Input, dear Anna!) we crafted interesting and imaginative stories together. Starting with the phrase ‚Every day‘, we took the stories on a journey with the phrases ‚But one day‘, ‚Ever since that day‘, and ‚And in the end‘. The stories we came up with were diverse and entertaining, involving elements like swans, goats, singing, and even soccer. We were impressed by the creativity and unique perspectives of our visual practitioners. It’s inspiring to see how each person brings their own creativity to the table. We want to thank everyone who participated and contributed! Looking back at last Friday’s European Visual Practitioners Monthly Online Meetup #EVPCocktail 🍸🎨 It was as always great to see the community come together and engage in collaborative drawing. We kicked off with a warm-up exercise where we challenged ourselves to draw five portraits in just 10 minutes. It was a good experience to witness everyone’s creativity flourish under a bit of time pressure ;) After the warm-up, we took a moment to reflect on the first half of 2024. Each participant shared their biggest challenge and their most important goal for the second half of the year. It was inspiring to see how everyone visualized their ideas and aspirations. (By the way: as the EVP host, I also participated in the exercise and realized that my focus for the second half of the year would be making the most out of living and working here in Switzerland:) We concluded the session with a checkout, where participants expressed their feedback and feelings. It was heartwarming to receive so many “happy” and “inspired” checkout words. If you follow EVP on Instagram you already know we had a vibrating night in Sofia. After two days of Visual Vibes in Plovdiv, we stopped in Sofia on our way home. Karl 🖼️ Mortier 🎙️ got invited to talk about communities on a PechaKucha evening about placemaking. Somehow we all got involved… Karl was the first speaker of the evening and talked about EVP. As soon as Betty (Alžbeta) Laurincová said she would be there, she was asked to talk about visual facilitation in urban planning. Maaike Borsboom and Eveline Mos volunteered to make two different types of visual recordings of all the talks. Svetla Todorova and Rossitsa Hristeva talked to all the local people who wants to know more about this magical thing we do. The energy was sky high and we had so much fun!

Day 2 of Visual Vibes - our visual retreat of this year. We travels through time and place. Maaike Borsboom said it best: What an amazing day we had: Time-travel and visualization adventure! Starting at an early Christian basilica, where history came to life. Next, with a VR headset on, we drew in 3D and stepped into an entirely new dimension.
