Congratulations to Hans Sommer on receiving the Founder's Prize 2024 by the Savings Banks Association of Baden-Württemberg for his lifetime achievement! 🏆     It all started with three engineers, today there are 6,500 employees: As a co-founder, Hans Sommer has helped shape our company for over 50 years. Behind the success of the inventor and visionary is the constant search for the best solution. With a passion for innovation,  it was clear to him early on that ecology and economy had to be reconciled. From this realization, he developed the blue way, which is still anchored in our brand essence today. 💡      Major projects such as Potsdamer Platz in Berlin and the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart bear his signature. "For every project he has accompanied, he has had the ambition to develop an innovative and economical building for the customer. What is now referred to as agility was put into our corporate DNA by Hans Sommer and is still the maxim of our actions today," says our CEO Steffen Szeidl🥇      Yesterday, he was honored for this life's work - Sparkassenverband Baden-Württemberg (Baden-Württemberg Savings Banks Association) awarded him the Founders' Prize 2024. Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs of Baden-Wuerttemberg, and Dr. Matthias Neth, President of the Savings Banks Association, paid particular tribute to Hans Sommer‘s tireless efforts to promote more sustainable construction methods and holistic solutions. 🌱      Michael Fritz, Chairperson of the Board of Managing Directors of Kreissparkasse Böblingen, emphasized: "Our world needs people with vision. This is extremely important, especially during a very fast-paced period in which technologies are changing rapidly. Hans Sommer is such a person. 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝗪𝗣𝟭𝟮 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 🏢 More than just an office building, Drees & Sommer's latest headquarters in Stuttgart is a "POC" building that embodies all our know-how and innovative methods. It sets a model and new standards in sustainability. Campus OWP12 is a building that produces more energy than it consumes, thanks to geothermal energy and the use of solar panels on the roof and facade.  It also manages water resources to supply a green façade that contributes to the biodiversity of the district. Above all, it is built with sustainable materials, respectful of the environment and the health of its occupants. 🌿 Here is a short (non-exhaustive) list of the objectives implemented during both the design and construction of the building: ✅ BIM and Cradle to Cradle design ✅ Fully digitized Smart Building ✅ Co-design of a new energy-efficient extra-thin façade in cooperation with Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co.
