🤖 Happy #ArtificialIntelligence Appreciation Day! 🎉 Today, we celebrate the incredible history and accomplishments of #AI tech that continue to shape our world. 🌐✨ Let's take a moment to reflect on the contributions of visionaries like David Dab, who aptly describes AI as a "copilot who makes us switch gears faster." 🚀 🔍 In our Annual Gazette 2023, David Dab's insights shed light on the profound impact of AI in navigating the complexities of our digital world. 📈 As we appreciate the strides made, it is crucial to recognize the evolving threat landscape. According to Microsoft 's annual report, cyberattacks have surged by a quarter in 2023, with AI emerging as a prominent culprit. But Microsoft is taking a proactive stance with the Secure Future Initiative, leveraging AI to enhance protection against evolving cyber threats. 💻🔒 🚀 Vinod Vasudevan's foresight highlights the evolving role of AI as a collaborative force in cybersecurity. The emergence of generative AI opens up exciting possibilities, allowing for the deployment of AI assistants to work alongside human analysts in managing and mitigating attacks. The shift in perspective, viewing AI as a dynamic knowledge base for experts, empowers them to enhance responses to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. It is a narrative that deserves wider recognition and understanding as we navigate the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. 🤝🔐 🔍Sabri Skhiri (Euranova) rightly points out that the critical interplay between AI and #cybersecurity is often overlooked, emphasizing the need for diligent protection at every stage of machine learning. 🚨💻💪 In the face of potentially serious consequences, Skhiri advocates against leaving software developers alone in this challenge. As we appreciate the positive impact of AI, let's also acknowledge the responsibility we carry in safeguarding its applications against misuse. 🌐🔒 🔍 Nathalie Smuha's astute observations bring to light the crucial role of human agency in shaping the narrative around artificial intelligence. As a researcher (KU Leuven) overseeing the ongoing debate, she highlights the need for a nuanced perspective that recognizes AI as an extension of human endeavors rather than an uncontrollable force. Her belief in the potential impact of the European AI Act underscores the importance of establishing a thoughtful legislative framework to navigate the complexities of AI integration responsibly. 📚🌐 🌐 Today, let's marvel at AI's past, present, and the exciting possibilities it holds for our future. 🤝Join the conversation! https://lnkd.in/ePSRa8mv

💡A holistic approach to application security The OWASP Software Assurance Maturity Model (SAMM) offers a holistic approach to improving application security, going beyond simple certifications such as ISO27001 or SOC2. This open-source framework helps organizations assess and strengthen their software security practices by integrating measurable action plans covering technology, processes and people. SAMM enables the maturity of security practices to be measured through scores based on precise criteria. This model provides a structured method for monitoring and improving application security while fostering a positive security culture. Aram Hovsepyan shared his recent experiences with implementing SAMM at the Application Security Sharing Day. ➡️ Read more here: https://ow.ly/l1sy50Sspjb #applicationsecurity #OWASP #SAMM

💡A Quick Guide to Privacy by Design in the SDLC At the Application Security Experience Sharing Day in Leuven last June, Bart van Buitenen (Dasprive) illustrated how the concept of Privacy By Design, integrating data protection from the very beginning of the development cycle, can be applied at every stage of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This proactive approach involves modelling privacy threats during the design stage, aligning security and privacy requirements during development, and verifying privacy features during testing. He also shared best practices for successful implementation of Privacy by Design. ➡️Read more here: https://ow.ly/rWo450Sspct #applicationsecurity #privacybydesign #SDLC #privacy
