Analyst – Asset Allocation

As part of the Portfolio Management function within Mercer Investment Management’s Multi-Asset Team, the Analyst function is to primarily support the day-to-day management of Mercer’s Multi-Asset Investment Options and Funds with a focus on exposure management, portfolio analysis and reporting. In addition to supporting the Senior Portfolio Managers, the role is expected to engage in broader Team projects and stakeholder deliverables. Further, opportunities exist to participate in aligned work across Mercer’s Global Multi-Asset and Manager Research functions.

We will count on you to:

  • Monitoring portfolio positioning, performance and risk metrics, provide insight to portfolio managers on key performance drivers and trends.
  • Preparation of investment reports, presentations and commentaries for internal stakeholders and client relations. Highlight key portfolio performance drivers and positioning.
  • Development of inhouse exposure management modelling and scenario analysis, focussing on benchmark relative positioning and risk positions vs funds stated benchmarks.
  • Work with Middle and Back Office functions to ensure portfolio management frameworks are optimised.
  • Stay well-informed of investment market, geopolitical and regulatory developments. Incorporate findings into investment analysis.
  • Continuous contribution to the efficient management and improvement of the investment process leveraging technology platform improvements, supporting technology transformation projects.
  • Support portfolio managers in investment strategy implementation and rebalancing of portfolio, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal benchmarks and compliance.

What you need to have:

  • Degree qualification in finance, economics, or mathematics.
  • Experience within a similar role.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills with the ability to interact confidently with peers and other senior investment professionals, and internal stakeholders.
  • Fluent use of office software packages like MS Office 365
  • Share a genuine curiosity for investment management concepts and processes.

What makes you stand out?

  • Undertaking post-graduate qualifications such as CFA or CAIA or other investment management studies
  • Quantitative skill set with experience in coding or data science.
