What techniques can help you deal with stage fright effectively?
I have never been able to memorise things that well. Even after playing the cello through most of school I wasn't even able to commit Mary had a Little Lamb to memory. So I don't turn myself into a sweaty mess by trying. I have a few notes and know that every time I deliver a keynote it will be a little bit different. I don't aim for perfection. I just slide into what I have prepared and practised and know that it will be ok. I let my instincts allow me to read the cues my audience are giving me. Speed it up, tell a joke for levity, get some audience participation. They will signal to you what's necessary to keep them engaged and when you allow a little flexibility to skip or add content along the way you are ready for success.

You need to manage your team's communication and collaboration. How can you do it effectively?
We are inundated with options to communicate. As leaders we have to accept that one avenue is not going to serve the entire team best. - I reserve emails for direct instructions on a specific task. - I place routine messages and reminders in our Teams chat. I send a regular Monday update. - I deliver sensitive messages in person. Either one on one or in a team gathering. The consistency of these communication streams makes it easy to predict what's coming and manage accordingly. I know I will have to remind people on important matters as they are juggling a lot at work and in their personal lives. If it's very important to our collective goals or leadership I tell them so they can prioritise accordingly.

How can you overcome the challenges of repatriation?
Preparing for repatriation includes considering your career and your retirement. Will your skills be valued in your home country? Many expats that return home are made redundant. What’s your Plan B if option A doesn’t work out? It’s also important to have a strategy on your retirement savings. Can you move it over? Are there tax penalties?!?
