Today, we are proud to celebrate a momentous occasion: Thiess' 90th anniversary. On 16 April 1934, Thiess Bros, a small farming and roadworks company, began operating in rural Australia. Ninety years later, we have grown across seven countries and three continents, with more than 15,000 employees – to be at the forefront of sustainable mining and infrastructure services. Since our humble beginnings, our pioneering spirit has been the driving force behind our success. It's not just about the number of years but the ambition to do more, be better, and reach further. To pioneer a brighter tomorrow.   Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gQnjDfax   #Thiess #ThiessPeople #Thiess90 #MakeYourMark #Discover #Accountable #Respectful #Empowered

On 1 July 2024 Thiess marked the official commencement of our 6-year contract extension with BHP at Mt Arthur South. Signed in April, this extension builds on the decades-long relationship between Thiess and BHP. We'll continue to operate and maintain mining equipment to support BHP’s production requirements. Thiess has played a key part in supporting the Hunter Valley local economy and community, dating back 80 years, and we’re proud to be given the opportunity to continue working in the region alongside BHP.

Зургийг Ж.Мөнхжаргал // The Mongol Naadam is the expression of Mongolian history and culture, and it also highlights the identity of the Mongol nation to the rest of the world. The Mongol Naadam symbolizes the sun, moon, and fire as the interpretation of eternal bliss, and which foretells unity, statehood, and pride, means a noble presence, harmony, and pride. The Mongol Naadam or Three games of men originated from the ancient Khunnu empire where they used to organize Naadam festivals to promote the unity of the fraternal tribes and improve the fighting skills of the soldiers. Today, the National Naadam is being celebrated annually across the country between 10-15 of July with competition games including national wrestling, national horse racing, archery, and knucklebone shooting. Thankyou to Munkhjargal Jigmeddorj from our Mongolia team for supplying the images.

In June, five CAT 789 trucks from our Bowen Basin sites travelled more than 3800 nautical miles from the Port of Mackay to our new Rebuild Centre on Batam Island in Indonesia. These trucks had reached the end of their service lives, and are set to be rebuilt and have their service life clock reset to 'zero hour' – extending each truck’s service life by a further 50,000 to 60,000 hours each. Thanks to the North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation and PT. Sarana Citranusa Kabil for their cooperation and support in ensuring the fleet's smooth journey. The Thiess Rebuild Centre team will now overhaul these trucks, providing each with a reconditioned chassis, brand-new components, and a refurbished cab. In 10-12 weeks, these trucks will be ready for a fresh start onsite.

At Thiess we celebrate NAIDOC Week during 7-14 July and acknowledge the enduring strength and vitality of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, their connection to country, each other, and to their traditions. This year’s theme, Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud reminds us of the Thiess Group vision which calls us to enable national reconciliation through our decisions and actions each and every day. This vision means: • speaking out against racism and discrimination • deepening the cultural experience and understanding of our people • operating on countries with consent, care, and respect • working together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in pursuit of their cultural, social, and economic aspirations. During NAIDOC Week we celebrate the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities. We encourage our people to get involved by joining our Connect.Yarn.Grow Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employee network and participating in NAIDOC Week events at work and in our local communities.
