Empowering LGBTQIA+ people to thrive at work in the formative stages of their career.

About us

Our vision is an empowered LGBTQIA+ community who are confident being their authentic selves in every workplace. Despite the progress since marriage equality in Australia in 2017, stigma and discrimination continue to be commonplace for LGBTQIA+ people in Australian society. Our community’s mental health and wellbeing lag behind the rest of the country, with the picture ever starker for our community’s most marginalised. Whichever job we hold, or in whichever industry we work, the significant portion of our lives that we spend at work can have a big impact on our overall well being. Our mission is to empower LGBTQIA+ people to thrive at work in the formative stages of their career. Despite younger generations being more likely to identify as LGBTQIA+ and first coming out younger, they are the least likely to be out at work. The transition from education to the workplace sees many choosing to go back into the closet. Only 24.5% of LGBTQIA+ people aged 18-24 years in 2020 were out to everyone they work with, less than half compared to those over 35. Workplaces have a vital role to play in changing this narrative, and so do we. Our experience in the workplace is not just shaped by the organisation we work for, but by the people within them, and the communities of people connected to them. Out for Australia builds connection across our community, across our workplaces, and across generations. We are empowering our next generation to thrive at work.

There's nothing like coming together to celebrate the launch of a new project 🎉🌈💗 It has been a wonderful journey with Levyl. so far, with so much to look forward to. Last night's event, "Pride & Progress - A New Era in Inclusive Recruiting," brought together those passionate about inclusivity and diversity in recruitment to share ideas and spark meaningful conversations. Out For Australia Board Member Rachel Mead, Abbie Jane from Rainbow Shoelace Project, and Hugo Welke 🏳️🌈 from Canva were on the panel to share their experiences and insights on how to navigate inclusivity in workplaces. This is only the beginning of what Levyl and Out For Australia are looking to achieve. We know that workplaces are better when diversity and inclusion are prioritized, and together we can create environments where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. Stay tuned for more updates and initiatives as we continue to champion inclusivity and diversity in every workspace. 🌈💼✨ #InclusiveWorkplace #DiversityAndInclusion #OutForAustralia #Levyl

What an incredible evening at our 'Pride & Progress – A New Era in Inclusive Recruiting' Event!🌈✨   A huge thank you to our amazing panellists: Rachel Mead from Out For Australia, Abbie Jane from Rainbow Shoelace Project, and Hugo Welke 🏳️🌈 from Canva. Your insights made the event truly special. Special thanks to Heather Preston from Out For Australia and our Founder Sarah Bolitho for hosting the event.   Some key takeaways from yesterday: - Creating an inclusive workforce is everyone's responsibility, not just for the #LGBTQIA+ community. - It's crucial to understand the barriers preventing individuals from being authentic at work and address the policies and practices contributing to these issues. - Misconceptions around LGBTQIA+ inclusion need to be addressed: talking about #queerinclusion in the workplace is a topic for everyone, not just queer people. - We need to focus on increasing representation in leadership positions to truly reflect the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community in the workplace. If you attended, drop a comment with your key takeaways and thoughts from the event! 👇   #InclusiveRecruiting #LGBTQIA #DEI #LevylRecruitment #PeopleAndCulture #Pride Matthew Bransby-Bell Viivi Naumanen Lily Tuomela Emilia Rodriguez Carrasco Angus Swift

🌟🏳️🌈 As voting draws to a close on June 9th for the Brisbane Pride Awards, let’s give one last push to support: Out For Australia, Ren Shike, Christine Lox, and Bizzi Lavelle! Your votes make all the difference! 💪 We're not just counting down to the close of voting; we're also gearing up for the Queens Ball on June 29th. This isn’t just any celebration—it’s a continuation of the world’s longest-running LGBTQI+ event, and a tribute to the pioneers who have fought for equality under challenging circumstances. 🌈✨ The Queens Ball is more than glitz and glamour; it's a testament to resilience and pride, established 63 years ago when it was still illegal to be gay. 🌟 Why Our Partnership with Levyl Matters 🌈 Did you know that LGBTQIA+ professionals are significantly underrepresented in managerial roles? This gap isn't just a loss for individuals but for organisations as well, missing out on diverse perspectives that drive innovation and success. This is why Out For Australia is thrilled to partner with Levyl in the High Potential Program. Our collaboration is set to tackle these disparities head-on by identifying and nurturing LGBTQIA+ talent for People and Culture roles. By guiding organisations to refine their recruitment and retention strategies, we aim to create workplaces that truly reflect the diversity of society. Together, we're not just filling jobs; we're crafting career opportunities that affirm and celebrate LGBTQIA+ identities. Join us to make inclusivity the norm, not the exception. Let's transform workplaces into environments where everyone, regardless of their identity, is empowered to succeed. 🚀 Dive in and be part of this meaningful journey! https://lnkd.in/dxwTmU4W 🌟 #ChangeMakers #InclusiveExcellence #HighPotentialProgram
