Last week we hosted Zaraleena Adamson (Zara) at our IXOM Yarraville Plant for a days work experience. Zara is studying Mechanical Engineering at the PNG University of Technology, and is an inspiring young leader who is also committed to addressing complex social challenges in her community and has held various impressive volunteering leadership positions. The placement was organised through KTF (Kokoda Track Foundation) and their Archer Leaders program, a leadership development initiative for final year university students in Papua New Guinea, with the goal of providing students a brief insight into professional working life and the opportunity to establish important networks and connections. We are currently searching for an experienced and motivated Site Manager to join our Kalgoorlie site in regional Western Australia. Reporting into our Head of Regional Manufacturing, the Site Manager will be responsible for all aspects of site management, manufacturing of chemical products, maintenance of facilities, unloading and dispatch to customers. 23rd June was Women in Engineering Day, and to recognise the day, we held a panel discussion with an array of our incredible female engineers to learn a little more about their career journeys, highlights and proudest moments, and what they’re looking forward to next.   A key message was that engineers are problem solvers, inquisitive and inventors – all driven to make the world a better place. We learnt about the different projects they’ve been a part of, from enhancing safety outcomes to improving processes and capabilities.   For anyone who is looking to encourage a career in engineering for their child, regardless of gender, the advice was clear – foster a curious mindset, encourage them to ask why, and help them see that engineers get to make a positive impact to the world.   A huge thank you to our panel, Claire Deutsch, Leah Tomasi, Marie Grimshaw, Kim Elmore, Katelyn Evans and Geena Williams for sharing their stories and insights!   #IXOM #BehindEveryLife #WomenInEngineering

This week our IXOM New Zealand team hosted Stop and Think, an event where we get as many people from across our New Zealand business together and take some time to focus on safety, how we think about it and how we work together to achieve good safety outcomes. We also focus on building an understanding of what day-to-day life is like for our colleagues across the business by creating a series of activities that put our people in each other’s shoes and experience the intricacies and complexities of their roles. By spending time with each other and creating this shared understanding, we can further enhance our safety and effectiveness for the benefit of ourselves, our team mates and our customers.
