Switzerland is aligning its corporate governance rules with international standards, following the EU's #CS3D. The Swiss Federal Council proposes new thresholds for Swiss companies, targeting those with 250 employees, CHF 25 million (€26 million) in total assets, and CHF 50 million (€52 million) in sales. This will increase the number of reporting companies from 300 to 3,500. Companies must disclose risks related to the environment, human rights, and corruption, and detail mitigation measures, with mandatory external assurance. The impact of the EU’s CSDDD on Swiss companies will also be assessed. As we've mentioned before, the #EUDR and CS3D are just the start. Smallholder value chains must be ready for these regulations that drive corporate responsibility. These regulations will require corporates to provide digital data, and while it’s their obligation, smallholder value chains will need to provide it. This leads to unintended impacts, such as the risk of order reductions from value chains that are not digitised. Today it is exactly one year ago that the European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) formally came into force! Which was 20 days after the publication of the Regulation was published in the European journal. Which also means that there is exactly half a year to comply with the requirements. There is an increasing nervousness about the challenges of meeting the requirements among actors in all sectors involved. Plus pressure to delay. As Solidaridad Network our priority is to work on the ground with farmers and supply chain actors to ensure farmers are informed and prepared. And include EUDR compliance part of a broader sustainability agenda. The 5 requirements to make EUDR work out positively we formulated more than a year ago are still valid.
