20th ERASMUS Congress and Exhibition (ERACON 2024) in Porto

The 20th annual ERASMUS Congress and Exhibition (ERACON 2024), organised by the European Association of Erasmus Coordinators (EAEC), will take place from 24th to 28th June 2024 at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, Portugal. The event invites Erasmus Coordinators, Placement and Internships Managers, Researchers, and professionals from both academia and the business world to participate in a week of presentations, discussions, and networking.

Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences and insights related to the Erasmus Programme, propose sessions and workshops, and submit written papers. ERACON 2024 aims to encourage knowledge exchange, showcase best practices, and discuss innovative strategies for higher education mobility.

ATHENA Coordinating Special Session on Global Education for Sustainable Development

One of the highlights of ERACON 2024 is a special session titled “Global Education for Sustainable Development,” chaired by Nuno Escudeiro, a representative from ATHENA member Polytechnic University of Porto.

Since 2020, the landscape of higher education has been transformed by new forms of mobility and advancements in artificial intelligence. This session will explore the deconstruction, reconstruction, and innovation of traditional educational paradigms. By leveraging novel learning environments supported by IT and AI tools, the session aims to highlight how these innovations can energise the sustainable development of our communities. Deeper internationalisation of higher education practices not only raises cultural awareness but also contributes to a more equitable and safer world.

Nuno Escudeiro will share the experience of ATHENA alliance and lead the session, featuring presentations on key topics including:

Advancing Sustainable and Equitable Higher Education Geared by International Mobility by Nuno Escudeiro, ISEP.
Digital+PBL for No-Borders and Sustainable Students’ Effective Learning by José Paulo Marques dos Santos from ISMAI.
Global Healthcare Education via International Exchange: Insights from the ERASMUS Radiography Group by José Miguel Silveira Correia Saúde from ESS.

These discussions and the good practices from ATHENA alliance will provide valuable insights into how global education practices are paving the way for the future of higher education, focusing on sustainability and international cooperation.
