ClimLaw: Graz ist ein Forschungszentrum zum Klimaschutzrecht an der Rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität Graz. Es ist Teil des interdisziplinären Profilbereichs Climate Change Graz, eines Zusammenschlusses von Wissenschafterinnen und Wissenschaftern der Universität Graz, die gemeinsam zu Klimawandel und Nachhaltigkeit forschen und ihr Wissen teilen. Aufgabe des Forschungszentrums ist es, aktuelle Entwicklungen des Klimaschutzrechts, speziell auch aus österreichischer Perspektive, kritisch zu beobachten und zu analysieren sowie gemeinsam mit nationalen und internationalen Partnern aus Wissenschaft und Praxis Forschungsprojekte mit Fokus auf Klimaschutz- und Umweltrecht durchzuführen. Durch die Vernetzung mit der Klimaforschung, Klimaökonomie, Klimaethik etc. sowie die enge Zusammenarbeit mit Stakeholdern ist ClimLaw: Graz transdisziplinär ausgerichtet und fungiert als kompetenter Ansprechpartner für wissenschaftliche Gutachten, Auskünfte und rechtswissenschaftliche Beratung. Das vielfältige Lehrveranstaltungsangebot der Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter des Zentrums bringt Studierenden der Rechtswissenschaften, aber auch anderer Studienrichtungen, die Grundlagen des Umwelt- und Klimaschutzrechts näher. ClimLaw: Graz ist in Forschung und Lehre national und international vernetzt. Das Forschungszentrum organisiert und gestaltet wissenschaftliche Fachtagungen, Workshops in Kooperation mit Partnern aus Wissenschaft und Praxis ebenso wie innovative Lehrveranstaltungsformate.

    📢 Joint Workshop: "Filling the gaps in EU Energy Community Formulation: Lessons from the Global South" Join us under the umbrella of the EUSEW 2024 for this insightful event on energy communities and insights from the global south 💡 ‼️This session will provide a unique perspective by considering the experiences of energy communities in the Global South and drawing from various experts and professionals researching and engaging in these debates worldwide. This session aims to bring a global dynamic within a regional context by addressing the challenges faced by energy communities in the EU through offering potential solutions based on experiences in the Global South. This comparative approach challenges attendees to think outside the box and outside the borders of the EU for other innovative or thought-provoking solutions. The content of the proposed session aligns with the EU sustainable energy policy as it: 1. Directly addresses the challenges in the formulation and operation of energy communities; 2. Encourages stakeholder engagement, awareness, and capacity building, and 3.     📢 New collaboration with the UNFCCC PCCB Network We are thrilled to announce that ClimLaw: Graz is now a proud member of the UN Climate Change Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB) Network. 🫱🏼🫲🏽 This esteemed network is an association dedicated to promoting climate-related capacity-building worldwide, fostering global collaboration, and driving impactful climate action. 🌍🌿 ➡️ The PCCB Network aligns with our work areas, including enhancing coherence and coordination in capacity-building efforts for climate action, identifying capacity gaps and needs, and raising awareness on climate change-related capacity-building. We are particularly excited about the opportunities for technical exchanges, peer learning activities, and the ability to connect with other members through the UNFCCC Capacity-building groups and events.     📢 Visiting Lecturer - Assistant Professor Katalin Sulyok (PhD) ➡️ We were thrilled to have hosted a guest lecture mini-series by the esteemed Assistant Professor Katalin Sulyok as part of our International Climate Change Law and Policy Seminar at the ClimLaw: Graz, REWI Uni Graz Admin, University of Graz. 🔍Born in Szeged in 1986, she has an illustrious academic background with qualifications in law and biology from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), and an LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School. She has been recognized numerous times for her exceptional studies and writings in Environmental Law. Currently, she holds a key position at the Office of the Ombudsman for Future Generations and imparts her knowledge as a lecturer at ELTE Law School. 📖📕 The lecture titled "Climate litigation and Science – The use of scientific fact finding methods in environmental jurisprudence" was an insightful exploration into the intersection of science and law in the context of environmental issues.     📢 3rd Annual PhD Workshop on Climate Law and Litigation We're filled with gratitude as we look back on last week's ClimLaw: Graz 3rd Annual PhD Workshop on Climate Law and Litigation in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the German Umweltbundesamt (UBA), the Association of Environmental Law Lecturers from African Universities (ASSELLAU) and the Development and Rule of Law Programme (DROP) at Stellenbosch University, South Africa 🌍🌿🎤. This successful event was a testament to the power of collaboration and the spirit of mutual learning. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who participated, contributing to the rich tapestry of perspectives and ideas. 🙏🏽 This event was made possible through our cooperation with esteemed organizations like the UN Environment Programme, the Umweltbundesamt, the ASSELLAU, and DROP at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. We are honored to have partnered with these organizations that continue to push forward in the field of environmental law. ‼️🙏🏽 Our presenters deserve a special mention. Benoit Mayer, Matjaz Nahtigal, Ebru Demir, Hana Müllerová, Monika Feigerlova, and Rita Simon, your willingness to share your insights and expertise was truly invaluable.
