    $\begingroup$ Generally easier to detect (outside our own solar system) gas giants and harder to detect the smaller rocky planets, so the stats may not be a great guide. $\endgroup$ Commented Mar 6, 2020 at 11:55
  • $\begingroup$ Around the Sun there are a dozen more solid planets (Ceres, Pluto, Eris etc.) but the IAU refuses to recognize them as planets. $\endgroup$
