How do I cite items or articles from the Library's website?

The Library of Congress Teachers website provides helpful instructions and examples for citing primary sources from the Library's collections.

The Library's website connects users to content created by the Library's many experts and in some cases, content may be posted without a clear indication of author, title, publisher or publication date. When citing these resources, look for available clues and add as much information as possible – including the URL and date accessed – in your citation, whenever possible.

The links below provide descriptions and examples of citations in two different styles (Chicago and MLA) for various types of materials that may be found on the Library's website.
