The PandaX-4T liquid xenon detector at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory is used to measure the solar $^8$B neutrino flux by detecting neutrinos through coherent scattering with xenon nuclei. Data samples requiring the coincidence of scintillation and ionization signals (paired), as well as unpaired ionization-only signals (US2), are selected with energy threshold of approximately 1.1 keV (0.33 keV) nuclear recoil energy. Combining the commissioning run and the first science run of PandaX-4T, a total exposure of 1.25 and 1.04 tonne$\cdot$year are collected for the paired and US2, respectively. After unblinding, 3 and 332 events are observed with an expectation of 2.8$\pm$0.5 and 251$\pm$32 background events, for the paired and US2 data, respectively. A combined analysis yields a best-fit $^8$B neutrino signal of 3.5 (75) events from the paired (US2) data sample, with $\sim$37\% uncertainty, and the background-only hypothesis is disfavored at 2.64$σ$ significance. This gives a solar $^8$B neutrino flux of ($8.4\pm3.1$)$\times$10$^6$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$, consistent with the standard solar model prediction. This is the first indication of solar $^8$B neutrino ``fog'' in a dark matter direct detection experiment.

The determination of the direction of a stellar core collapse via its neutrino emission is crucial for the identification of the progenitor for a multimessenger follow-up. A highly effective method of reconstructing supernova directions within the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is introduced. The supernova neutrino pointing resolution is studied by simulating and reconstructing electron-neutrino charged-current absorption on $^{40}$Ar and elastic scattering of neutrinos on electrons. Procedures to reconstruct individual interactions, including a newly developed technique called ``brems flipping'', as well as the burst direction from an ensemble of interactions are described. Performance of the burst direction reconstruction is evaluated for supernovae happening at a distance of 10 kpc for a specific supernova burst flux model. The pointing resolution is found to be 3.4 degrees at 68% coverage for a perfect interaction-channel classification and a fiducial mass of 40 kton, and 6.6 degrees for a 10 kton fiducial mass respectively. Assuming a 4% rate of charged-current interactions being misidentified as elastic scattering, DUNE's burst pointing resolution is found to be 4.3 degrees (8.7 degrees) at 68% coverage.

Neutrinoless double beta decay is one of the most sensitive probes for new physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. One of the isotopes under investigation is $^{136}$Xe, which would double beta decay into $^{136}$Ba. Detecting the single $^{136}$Ba daughter provides a sort of ultimate tool in the discrimination against backgrounds. Previous work demonstrated the ability to perform single atom imaging of Ba atoms in a single-vacancy site of a solid xenon matrix. In this paper, the effort to identify signal from individual barium atoms is extended to Ba atoms in a hexa-vacancy site in the matrix and is achieved despite increased photobleaching in this site. Abrupt fluorescence turn-off of a single Ba atom is also observed. Significant recovery of fluorescence signal lost through photobleaching is demonstrated upon annealing of Ba deposits in the Xe ice. Following annealing, it is observed that Ba atoms in the hexa-vacancy site exhibit antibleaching while Ba atoms in the tetra-vacancy site exhibit bleaching. This may be evidence for a matrix site transfer upon laser excitation. Our findings offer a path of continued research toward tagging of Ba daughters in all significant sites in solid xenon.

We have phenomenologically investigated the decays $B_s^0 \to X(3872) π^+π^- (K^+ K^-)$ and $B_s^0 \to ψ(2S) π^+ π^- (K^+K^-)$. In our analysis, the scalar meson $f_0(980)$ is formed through the final state interactions of coupled channels $ππ$ and $K\bar{K}$. Our findings indicate that the $π^+π^-$ invariant mass distribution of the $B_s^0 \to ψ(2S)π^+π^-$ decay can be accurately reproduced. Furthermore, we have explored the $π^+π^- (K^+ K^-)$ invariant mass distribution of the $B_s^0 \to X(3872) π^+π^- (K^+ K^-)$ decay, accounting for the different production mechanisms between $X(3872)$ and $ψ(2S)$, up to a global factor. It is found that the production rates for $X(3872)$ and $ψ(2S)$ are much different, which indicates that the structure of $X(3872)$ is more complicated than the $ψ(2S)$, which is a conventional $c\bar{c}$ state. Additionally, we have considered the contributions from $f_0(1500)$ to $π^+π^-$ and the $φ$ meson to $K^+ K^-$ in our analysis. Utilizing the model parameters, we have calculated the branching fraction of $B_s^0 \to X(3872) K^+ K^-$, and anticipate that the findings of our study can be experimentally tested in the future.

Isomers, ubiquitous populations of relatively long-lived nuclear excited states, play a crucial role in nuclear physics. However, isomers with half-life times of several seconds or less barely had experimental cross section data due to the lack of a suitable measuring method. We report a method of online γ spectroscopy for ultra-short-lived isomers from photonuclear reactions using laser-driven ultra-intense γ-rays. The fastest time resolution can reach sub-ps level with γ-ray intensities >10^{19}/s ({\geqslant} 8 MeV). The ^{115}In(γ, n)^{114m2}In reaction (T_{1/2} = 43.1 ms) was first measured in the high-energy region which shed light on the nuclear structure studies of In element. Simulations showed it would be an efficient way to study ^{229m}Th (T_{1/2} = 7 μs), which is believed to be the next generation of nuclear clock. This work offered a unique way of gaining insight into ultra-short lifetimes and promised an effective way to fill the gap in relevant experimental data.

New measurements of photofission and photoneutron reactions on $^{238}$U and $^{232}$Th in the Giant Dipole Resonance (GDR) energy region have been performed at the laser Compton-scattering $γ$-ray source of the NewSUBARU synchrotron radiation facility using a high-and-flat efficiency moderated $^3$He detection array. The neutron-multiplicity sorting of high-multiplicity fission neutron coincidence events has been performed using a dedicated energy dependent, multiple firing statistical treatment. The photoneutron $(γ,\,in)$ with $i$~=~1~--~3 and photofission $(γ,\,F)$ reactions have been discriminated by considering a Gaussian distribution of prompt-fission-neutron (PFN) multiplicities predicted by the theory of evaporation in sequential neutron emission from excited fission fragments. We report experimental $(γ,\,n)$, $(γ,\,2n)$, $(γ,\,3n)$ and $(γ,\,F)$ cross sections, average energies of PFNs and of $(γ,\,in)$ photoneutrons, as well as the mean number of PFNs per fission act and the width of the PFNs multiplicity distribution. Based on these primary experimental results and combined with reasonable assumptions, we extract also the first- and second-chance fission contributions. The new experimental results are compared with statistical-model calculations performed with the EMPIRE-3.2 Malta and TALYS-1.964 codes on the present data and with prompt fission emission calculations obtained with the Los Alamos model in the frame of the most probable fragmentation approach with and without sequential emission.

The measured production rate of $^8$He isotopes is more than an order of magnitude lower than any other measurement of cosmogenic isotope production. It replaces the results of previous attempts to determine the ratio of $^8$He to $^9$Li production that yielded a wide range of limits from 0 to 30\%. The results provide future liquid-scintillator-based experiments with improved ability to predict cosmogenic backgrounds.

Clear signals are observed for the two reactions. The cross sections in $-0.9\leq\rm{cos}θ_{Λ/\barΛ}\leq0.9$ are measured to be $σ(Λp\rightarrowΛp)=(12.2\pm1.6_{\rm{stat}}\pm1.1_{\rm{sys}})$ mb and $σ(\barΛ p\rightarrow\barΛ p)=(17.5\pm2.1_{\rm{stat}}\pm1.6_{\rm{sys}})$ mb at the $Λ/\barΛ$ momentum of $1.074$ GeV/$c$ within a range of $\pm0.017$ GeV/$c$, where the $θ_{Λ/\barΛ}$ are the scattering angles of the $Λ/\barΛ$ in the $Λp/\barΛp$ rest frames. Furthermore, the differential cross sections of the two reactions are also measured, where there is a slight tendency of forward scattering for $Λp\rightarrowΛp$, and a strong forward peak for $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$. We present an approach to extract the total elastic cross sections by extrapolation. The study of $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$ represents the first study of antihyperon-nucleon scattering, and these new measurements will serve as important inputs for the theoretical understanding of the (anti)hyperon-nucleon interaction.

The chirality-flipping operators of light fermions are currently poorly constrained by experimental analyses due to the lack of interference with Standard Model (SM) amplitudes in traditional observables. In this work, we propose to investigate the semi-leptonic scalar/tensor four-fermion operators of electron and quarks through the transverse double spin asymmetry (DSA) at Electron-Ion Collider, where both the electron and proton beams could be highly transversely polarized. Due to the chirality-flipping nature of these operators, we demonstrate that their interference with the SM results in an unsuppressed contribution to the DSA, and could lead to non-trivial azimuthal $\cos2φ$ and $\sin2φ$ distributions that are linearly dependent on their Wilson coefficients. This new method has the potential to significantly improve the current constraints on these scalar/tensor four-fermion operators without relying on theoretical assumptions about other types of new physics effects, particularly for the tensor type operator of the $u$-quark. Additionally, our findings indicate that both the real and imaginary parts of these operators can be simultaneously constrained and offer a new opportunity for probing potential $CP$-violation effects. However, it is important to note that these results would be sensitive to the quark transversity distributions, which are currently poorly constrained by the experimental data, but could be significantly improved at the upcoming Electron-Ion Collider. Therefore, our work opens up a new avenue to utilize this new spin asymmetry for exploring the new physics effects from the scalar/tensor four-fermion operators.

The cluster structure of the neutron-rich isotope $^{10}$Be has been probed via the $(p,pα)$ reaction at 150 MeV/nucleon in inverse kinematics and in quasifree conditions. The populated states of $^{6}$He residues were investigated through missing mass spectroscopy. The triple differential cross-section for the ground-state transition was extracted for quasifree angle pairs ($θ_{p}$, $θ_α$) and compared to distorted-wave impulse approximation reaction calculations performed in a microscopic framework using successively the Tohsaki-Horiuchi-Schuck-Röpke product wave-function and the wave-function deduced from Antisymmetrized Molecular Dynamics calculations. The remarkable agreement between calculated and measured cross-sections in both shape and magnitude validates the molecular structure description of the $^{10}$Be ground-state, configured as an $α$-$α$ core with two valence neutrons occupying $π$-type molecular orbitals.

The neutron rich neck zone created in heavy ion reaction is experimentally probed by the production of the $A=3$ isobars. The energy spectra and angular distributions of triton and $^3$He are measured with the CSHINE detector in $^{86}$Kr +$^{208}$Pb reactions at 25 MeV/u. While the energy spectrum of $^{3}$He is harder than that of triton, known as "$^{3}$He-puzzle", the yield ratio $R({\rm t/^3He})$ presents a robust rising trend with the polar angle in laboratory. Using the fission fragments to reconstruct the fission plane, the enhancement of out-plane $R({\rm t/^3He})$ is confirmed in comparison to the in-plane ratios. Transport model simulations reproduce qualitatively the experimental trends, but the quantitative agreement is not achieved. The results demonstrate that a neutron rich neck zone is formed in the reactions. Further studies are called for to understand the clustering and the isospin dynamics related to neck formation.

A trigger system has been designed and implemented for the HIRFL-CSR external target experiment (CEE), the spectrometer for studying nuclear matter properties with heavy ion collisions in the GeV energy region. The system adopts master-slave structure and serial data transmission mode using optical fiber to deal with different types of detectors and long-distance signal transmission. The trigger logic can be accessed based on command register and controlled by a remote computer. The overall field programmable gate array (FPGA) logic can be flexibly reconfigured online to match the physical requirements of the experiment. The trigger system has been tested in beam experiment. It is demonstrated that the trigger system functions correctly and meets the physical requirements of CEE.

The energetic photons are measured by a CsI(Tl) hodoscope mounted on the spectrometer CSHINE. The energy spectrum above 30 MeV can be reproduced by the IBUU model calculations incorporating the photon production channel from $np$ process in which the HMTs of nucleons is considered. A non-zero HMT ratio of about $15\%$ is favored by the data. The effect of the capture channel $np \to dγ$ is demonstrated.

Detailed $γ$-ray spectroscopy of the exotic neon isotope $^{28}$Ne has been performed for the first time using the one-neutron removal reaction from $^{29}$Ne on a liquid hydrogen target at 240~MeV/nucleon. Based on an analysis of parallel momentum distributions, a level scheme with spin-parity assignments has been constructed for $^{28}$Ne and the negative-parity states are identified for the first time. The measured partial cross sections and momentum distributions reveal a significant intruder $p$-wave strength providing evidence of the breakdown of the $N=20$ and $N=28$ shell gaps. Only a weak, possible $f$-wave strength was observed to bound final states. Large-scale shell-model calculations with different effective interactions do not reproduce the large $p$-wave and small $f$-wave strength observed experimentally, indicating an ongoing challenge for a complete theoretical description of the transition into the island of inversion along the Ne isotopic chain.

Collective flow has been found similar between small colliding systems (p+p and p+A collisions) and large colliding systems (peripheral A+A collisions) at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In order to study the difference of collective flow between small and large colliding systems, we employ a point cloud network to identify $p$ $+$ Pb collisions and peripheral Pb $+$ Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =$ 5.02 TeV from a multiphase transport model (AMPT). After removing the discrepancies in the pseudorapidity distribution and the $p_{\rm T}$ spectra, we capture the discrepancy in anisotropic flow. Although the verification accuracy of our PCN is limited due to similar event-by-event distributions of elliptic and triangular flow, we demonstrate that collective flow between $p$ $+$ Pb collisions and peripheral Pb $+$ Pb collisions becomes more different with increasing final hadron multiplicity and parton scattering cross section.

This study developed a novel method for detecting hypernuclear events recorded in nuclear emulsion sheets using machine learning techniques. The artificial neural network-based object detection model was trained on surrogate images created through Monte Carlo simulations and image-style transformations using generative adversarial networks. The performance of the proposed model was evaluated using $α$-decay events obtained from the J-PARC E07 emulsion data. The model achieved approximately twice the detection efficiency of conventional image processing and reduced the time spent on manual visual inspection by approximately 1/17. The established method was successfully applied to the detection of hypernuclear events. This approach is a state-of-the-art tool for discovering rare events recorded in nuclear emulsion sheets without any real data for training.

The cross section of the reaction $Ξ^0+{^9\rm{Be}}\rightarrowΞ^-+p+{^8\rm{Be}}$ is determined to be $σ(Ξ^0+{^9\rm{Be}}\rightarrowΞ^-+p+{^8\rm{Be}})=(22.1\pm5.3_{\rm{stat}}\pm4.5_{\rm{sys}})$ mb at the $Ξ^0$ momentum of $0.818$ GeV/$c$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. No significant $H$-dibaryon signal is observed in the $Ξ^-p$ final state. This is the first study of hyperon-nucleon interactions in electron-positron collisions and opens up a new direction for such research.

Active target time projection chambers are important tools in low energy radioactive ion beams or gamma rays related researches. In this work, we present the application of machine learning methods to the analysis of data obtained from an active target time projection chamber. Specifically, we investigate the effectiveness of Visual Geometry Group (VGG) and the Residual neural Network (ResNet) models for event classification and reconstruction in decays from the excited $2^+_2$ state in $^{12}$C Hoyle rotation band. The results show that machine learning methods are effective in identifying $^{12}$C events from the background noise, with ResNet-34 achieving an impressive precision of 0.99 on simulation data, and the best performing event reconstruction model ResNet-18 providing an energy resolution of $σ_E<77$ keV and an angular reconstruction deviation of $σ_θ<0.1$ rad. The promising results suggest that the ResNet model trained on Monte Carlo samples could be used for future classifying and predicting experimental data in active target time projection chambers related experiments.

In the rest framework of emission source, the probability density function obeyed by meson momenta satisfies the Bose-Einstein distribution, and that obeyed by baryon momenta satisfies the Fermi-Dirac distribution. To simulate the $p_{T}$ of the charged particles, the kinetic freeze-out temperature $T$ and transverse expansion velocity $β_{T}$ of emission source are introduced into the relativistic ideal gas model. Our results, based on the Monte Carlo method for numerical calculation, show a good agreement with the experimental data. The excitation functions of thermodynamic parameter $T$ and hydrodynamic parameter $β_{T}$ are then obtained from the analyses, which shows an increase tendency from 7.7 GeV to 5.02 TeV in collisions with different centralities.

STRASSE (Silicon Tracker for RAdioactive nuclei Studies at SAMURAI Experiments) is a new detection system under construction for quasi-free scattering (QFS) measurements at 200-250 MeV/nucleon at the RIBF facility of the RIKEN Nishina Center. It consists of a charged-particle silicon tracker coupled with a dedicated thick liquid hydrogen target (up to 150-mm long) in a compact geometry to fit inside large scintillator or germanium arrays. Its design was optimized for two types of studies using QFS: missing-mass measurements and in-flight prompt $γ$-ray spectroscopy. This article describes (i) the resolution requirements needed to go beyond the sensitivity of existing systems for these two types of measurements, (ii) the conceptual design of the system using detailed simulations of the setup and (iii) its complete technical implementation and challenges. The final tracker aims at a sub-mm reaction vertex resolution and is expected to reach a missing-mass resolution below 2 MeV in $σ$ for $(p,2p)$ reactions when combined with the CsI(Na) CATANA array.

We report on the first proton-induced single proton- and neutron-removal reactions from the neutron-deficient $^{14}$O nucleus with large Fermi-surface asymmetry $S_n-S_p$ = 18.6 MeV at $\sim$100 MeV/nucleon, a widely used energy regime for rare-isotope studies. The measured inclusive cross sections and parallel momentum distributions of the $^{13}$N and $^{13}$O residues are compared to the state-of-the-art reaction models, with nuclear structure inputs from many-body shell-model calculations. Our results provide the first quantitative contributions of multiple reaction mechanisms including the quasifree knockout, inelastic scattering and nucleon transfer processes. It is shown that the inelastic scattering and nucleon transfer, usually neglected at such energy regime, contribute about 50% and 30% to the loosely bound proton and deeply bound neutron removal, respectively. These multiple reaction mechanisms should be considered in analyses of inclusive one-nucleon removal cross sections measured at intermediate energies for quantitative investigation of single-particle strengths and correlations in atomic nuclei.

The stellar (n, $γ$) cross section data for the mass numbers around A $\approx$ 160 are of key importance to nucleosynthesis in the main component of the slow neutron capture process, which occur in the thermally pulsing asymptotic giant branch (TP--AGB). The new measurement of (n, $γ$) cross sections for $^{159}$Tb was performed using the C$_6$D$_6$ detector system at the back streaming white neutron beam line (Back-n) of the China spallation neutron source (CSNS) with neutron energies ranging from 1 eV to 1 MeV. Experimental resonance capture kernels were reported up to 1.2 keV neutron energy with this capture measurement. Maxwellian-averaged cross sections (MACS) were derived from the measured $^{159}$Tb (n, $γ$) cross sections at $kT$ = 5 $\sim$ 100 keV and are in good agreement with the recommended data of KADoNiS-v0.3 and JEFF-3.3, while KADoNiS-v1.0 and ENDF-VIII.0 significantly overestimate the present MACS up to 40$\%$ and 20$\%$, respectively. A sensitive test of the s-process nucleosynthesis was also performed with the stellar evolution code MESA. Significant changes in abundances around A $\approx$ 160 were observed between the ENDF/B-VIII.0 and present measured rate of $^{159}$Tb(n, $γ$)$^{160}$Tb in the MESA simulation.

We investigate the decays of $B^0 \to K^0 X(3872)$ and $B^+ \to K^+ X(3872)$ based on the picture where the $X(3872)$ resonance is strongly coupled to the $D\bar{D}^* + c.c.$ channel. In addition to the decay mechanism where the $X(3872)$ resonance is formed from the $c\bar{c}$ pair hadronization with the short-distance interaction, we have also considered the $D\bar{D}^*$ rescattering diagrams in the long-distance scale, where $D$ and $\bar{D}^*$ are formed from $c$ and $\bar{c}$ separately. Because of the difference of the mass thresholds of charged and neutral $D\bar{D}^*$ channels, and the rather narrow width of the $X(3872)$ resonance, at the $X(3872)$ mass, the loop functions of $D^0\bar{D}^{*0}$ and $D^+\bar{D}^{*-}$ are much different. Taking this difference into account, the ratio of $\mathcal{B}[B^0\to K^0X(3872)]/\mathcal{B}[B^+ \to K^+ X(3872)] \simeq 0.5$ can be naturally obtained. Based on this result, we also evaluate the decay widths of $B_s^0 \to η(η') X(3872)$. It is expected that future experimental measurements of these decays can be used to elucidate the nature of the $X(3872)$ resonance.

Photo-nuclear reactions of light nuclei below a mass of $A=60$ are studied experimentally and theoretically by the PANDORA (Photo-Absorption of Nuclei and Decay Observation for Reactions in Astrophysics) project. Two experimental methods, virtual-photon excitation by proton scattering and real-photo absorption by a high-brilliance gamma-ray beam produced by laser Compton scattering, will be applied to measure the photo-absorption cross sections and the decay branching ratio of each decay channel as a function of the photon energy. Several nuclear models, e.g. anti-symmetrized molecular dynamics, mean-field type models, a large-scale shell model, and ab initio models, will be employed to predict the photo-nuclear reactions. The uncertainty in the model predictions will be evaluated from the discrepancies between the model predictions and the experimental data. The data and the predictions will be implemented in a general reaction calculation code TALYS . The results will be applied to the simulation of the photo-disintegration process of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays in inter-galactic propagation.

We calculate the cumulants and correlation functions of net-kaon multiplicity distributions in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 7.7$ GeV using a multiphase transport model (AMPT) with both a new coalescence mechanism and all charge conservation laws. The AMPT model can qualitatively describe the centrality dependences of the net-kaon cumulants and cumulant ratios measured by the STAR experiment. By focusing on the stage evolution of the cumulants, cumulant ratios, and correlation functions, we reveal several key effects on the fluctuations and correlations of strangeness during the dynamical evolution of relativistic heavy-ion collisions, including strangeness production and diffusion, hadronization, hadronic rescatterings, and weak decays. Without considering the quantum chromodynamics critical fluctuations in the dynamic model, we demonstrate that the net-kaon fluctuations can largely represent the net-strangeness fluctuations. Our results provide a baseline for understanding the net-kaon and net-strangeness fluctuations, which help to search for the possible critical behaviors at the critical end point in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.

Based on our previous work about the role of $a_0(1710)$ in the $D_s^+\toπ^+K_S^0K_S^0$ decay [Phy. Rev. D 105, 116010 (2022)], we perform a further theoretical study of $a_0(1710)^+$ in the process $D^+_s \to π^0 a_0(1710)^+ \to π^0 K^+ K^0_S$. In addition to $a_0(1710)$, the contributions of $K^*$ and $a_0(980)$ are also taken into account. Firstly, we consider the contributions from the tree diagrams of $K^{*+} \to K^+π^0$ and $\bar{K}^{*0} \to π^0 \bar{K}^0$. Secondly, we describe the final state interaction of $K\bar{K}$ in the chiral unitary approach to study the contribution of $a_0(980)$, while the $a_0(1710)$ state is dynamically generated from the $K^*\bar{K}^*$ interaction, and then decays into $K^+\bar{K}^0$. Since the final $K^+ K_S^0$ state is in pure isospin $I=1$, the $D_s^+\toπ^0K^+K_s^0$ decay is an ideal process to study the $a_0(1710)^+$ and $a_0(980)^+$ resonances. Based on our theoretical calculations, it is found that the recent experimental measurements on the $K^+K^0_S$, $π^0K^+$, and $π^0 K_S^0$ invariant mass distributions can be well reproduced, which supports the molecular $K^*\bar{K}^*$ nature of the scalar $a_0(1710)$ resonance.

The $^{13}$C($α$,$n$)$^{16}$O reaction is the main neutron source for the slow-neutron-capture (s-) process in Asymptotic Giant Branch stars and for the intermediate (i-) process. Direct measurements at astrophysical energies in above-ground laboratories are hindered by the extremely small cross sections and vast cosmic-ray induced background. We performed the first consistent direct measurement in the range of $E_{\rm c.m.}=$0.24 MeV to 1.9 MeV using the accelerators at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory (CJPL) and Sichuan University. Our measurement covers almost the entire i-process Gamow window in which the large uncertainty of the previous experiments has been reduced from 60\% down to 15\%, eliminates the large systematic uncertainty in the extrapolation arising from the inconsistency of existing data sets, and provides a more reliable reaction rate for the studies of the s- and i-processes along with the first direct determination of the alpha strength for the near-threshold state.

We present a new method for the measurements of photonuclear reaction flux-weighted average cross sections and isomeric ratios using a laser-driven bremsstrahlung $γ$-ray source. An ultra-bright ultra-fast 60$\,\thicksim\,$250 MeV bremsstrahlung $γ$-ray source was established using the 200 TW laser facility in the Compact Laser Plasma Accelerator Laboratory, Peking University, which could cover the energy range from knocking out neutrons to producing pions. Stable quasi-monoenergetic electron beams were generated via laser wakefield acceleration with a charge of 300$\,\thicksim\,$600 pC per shot. The averaged $γ$-ray intensities ($\geqslant$8 MeV) were higher than 10$^{8}$ per shot and the instantaneous intensities can reach above 10$^{19}$ s$^{-1}$ with a duration time about 6.7 ps. $^{65}$Cu($γ,\,n$)$^{64}$Cu and $^{27}$Al($γ,\,x$)$^{24}$Na reactions were used as $γ$-ray flux monitors in the experiments. The flux-weighted average cross sections and isomeric ratios of $^{197}$Au($γ,\,xn;\,x\,=\,1\thicksim9$) reactions were analyzed through activation measurements. The results showed good agreement with previous works and proved this method to be accurate. The $^{197}$Au($γ,\,xn;\,x\,=\,7\thicksim\,9$) reaction cross sections were first achieved with the highest threshold energy of 71.410 MeV. Theoretical cross sections of TALYS 1.9 were calculated to compare with experiment results. This method offered a unique way of gaining insight into photonuclear reaction research, especially for short-lived isomers which extremely lack experimental data.

We report an extended measurement of the neutron cross section on argon in the energy range of 95-720 MeV. The measurement was obtained with a 4.3-hour exposure of the Mini-CAPTAIN detector to the WNR/LANSCE beam at LANL. Compared to an earlier analysis of the same data, this extended analysis includes a reassessment of systematic uncertainties, in particular related to unused wires in the upstream part of the detector. Using this information we doubled the fiducial volume in the experiment and increased the statistics by a factor of 2.4. We also shifted the analysis from energy bins to time-of-flight bins. This change reduced the overall considered energy range, but improved the understanding of the energy spectrum of incoming neutrons in each bin. Overall, the new measurements are extracted from a fit to the attenuation of the neutron flux in five time-of-flight regions: 140 ns - 180 ns, 120 ns - 140 ns, 112 ns - 120 ns, 104 ns - 112 ns, 96 ns - 104 ns. The final cross sections are given for the flux-averaged energy in each time-of-flight bin: $σ(146~\rm{MeV})=0.60^{+0.14}_{-0.14}\pm0.08$(syst) b, $σ(236~\rm{MeV})=0.72^{+0.10}_{-0.10}\pm0.04$(syst) b, $σ(319~\rm{MeV})=0.80^{+0.13}_{-0.12}\pm0.040$(syst) b, $σ(404~\rm{MeV})=0.74^{+0.14}_{-0.09}\pm0.04$(syst) b, $σ(543~\rm{MeV})=0.74^{+0.09}_{-0.09}\pm0.04$(syst) b.

The yield and kinetic variables of the $A=3$ isobars, triton and $^3$He, are analyzed in coincidence with the heavy clusters of $7\le A \le 14$ emitted at the earlier chance. While the velocity spectra of both triton and $^3$He exhibit scaling behavior over the type of the heavy clusters, the yield ratios of ${\rm t/^3He}$ correlate reversely to the neutron-to-proton ratio $N/Z$ of the latter, showing the ping-pong modality of the $N/Z$ of emitted clusters. The commonality that the $N/Z$ of the residues keeps the initial system value is extended to the cluster emission in heavy ion reactions. The comparison of transport model calculations to the data is discussed.

We propose a test-particle method to probe the transport dynamics of the establishment and development of collective flow in large and small systems of heavy-ion collisions. We place test particles as passengers into the partonic medium created by Au$+$Au midcentral collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV and $p$ $+$ Pb central collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV, using a multiphase transport model. With the help of test particles in two extreme test cases, we demonstrate that parton collisions play an important role in establishing and developing collectivity in large and small colliding systems. The collectivity established by final state parton collisions is much stronger in large colliding systems compared to small colliding systems. The collectivity from the initial state can persist or survive more easily in small colliding systems than in large colliding systems due to fewer parton collisions. Our study provides a new method to understand the origin of collectivity in large and small colliding systems at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and the CERN Large Hadron Collider.

We calculate the longitudinal flow decorrelation coefficients, i.e., $r_n(η,η_r)$ for $n=2,3$, in the presence of hydro-like flow and the global momentum conservation (GMC) constraint. The longitudinal flow decorrelation is weakened due to the GMC constraint. The GMC effect is sensitive to the total number of particles involved in GMC, the average longitudinal momentum, the transverse momentum, and the reference pseudorapidity. Our results of the $r_2(η,η_{rA})/r_2(η,η_{rB})$ ratio between two reference pseudorapidity bins are consistent with the experimental measurements. We predict that the modification effect of GMC on longitudinal flow decorrelation is more noticeable at BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider energies than at CERN Large Hadron Collider energies. Our finding provides a new perspective for understanding the longitudinal flow decorrelation in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.

With the newly measurements of $X(3872) \to J/ψπ^+π^-$ from LHCb Collaboration, in addition to the dominant contribution from the $ρ^0$ meson, we perform a theoretical study on the contribution of $ω$ meson in the $X(3872) \to J/ψπ^+π^-$ and $X(3872)\to J/ψπ^+π^-π^0$ processes. It is found that the recent experimental measurements on the $π^+ π^-$ invariant mass distributions can be well reproduced, and the ratio of the couplings between $X(3872) \to J/ψρ^0$ and $X(3872) \to J/ψω$ is also evaluated. Within the parameters extracted from the $π^+ π^-$ invariant mass distributions of the $X(3872) \to J/ψπ^+π^-$ process, the branching fractions of the $X(3872) \to J/ψω$ channel relative to that of the $X(3872) \to J/ψπ^+π^-π^0$ channel and the $π^+ π^- π^0$ invariant mass distributions of the $X(3872) \to J/ψπ^+π^-π^0$ decay are calculated, which gives a hint for the further high-statistic experiment.

Multiple isotopes of samarium element are the isotopes produced by the s process, and 154Sm is produced by the r process. In addition, 144Sm is p nuclei in nuclear astrophysics. The measurement of these can help us to better understand the results of relevant photonuclear reaction experiments. On the other hand, 149Sm is a 235U fission product with a 1% yield, its cross sections are important to reactor neutronics. In this work, the neutron capture yield of the natural samarium target was measured at the back-streaming white neutron beamline (Back-n) of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS), and the resonance parameters were analyzed by SAMMY code. The resonance peaks and the neutron separation energies contributed by the different isotopes are considered individually. The results of the capture yield found signs of the possibility of two resonance peaks at 8 eV, which awaits further experimental examination. Cross-section was calculated according to resonance parameters and was compared with other experimental results and evaluation databases of ENDF/B-VIII.0 and CENDL-3.2. A clear difference between ENDF/B VIII.0 and CENDL-3.2 database appears at 23.2 eV, the experimental result at this energy is smaller than data of ENDF/B VIII.0 database but CENDL-3.2 database. Most of the controversial experimental results invariably come from the samarium 149 isotope.

Nuclear properties across the chart of nuclides are key to improving and validating our understanding of the strong interaction in nuclear physics. We present high-precision mass measurements of neutron-rich Fe isotopes performed at the TITAN facility. The multiple-reflection time-of-flight mass spectrometer (MR-ToF-MS), achieving a resolving power greater than $600\,000$ for the first time, enabled the measurement of $^{63-70}$Fe, including first-time high-precision direct measurements ($δm/m \sim 10^{-7}$) of $^{68-70}$Fe, as well as the discovery of a long-lived isomeric state in $^{69}$Fe. These measurements are accompanied by both mean-field and ab initio calculations using the most recent realizations which enable theoretical assignment of the spin-parities of the $^{69}$Fe ground and isomeric states. Together with mean-field calculations of quadrupole deformation parameters for the Fe isotope chain, these results benchmark a maximum of deformation in the $N = 40$ island of inversion in Fe, and shed light on trends in level densities indicated in the newly-refined mass surface.

The first on-line commissioning experiment of this system was performed using the continuous stable ($^{39}$K) and unstable ($^{38}$K) ion beams produced by impinging a 100-MeV proton beam on a CaO target. Hyperfine structure spectra of these two isotopes are reasonably reproduced, and the extracted magnetic dipole hyperfine parameters and isotope shift agree with the literature values. The on-line experiment demonstrates the overall functioning of this CLS system, opening new opportunities for laser spectroscopy measurement of unstable isotopes at BRIF and other radioactive ion beam facilities in China.

This Letter reports the first measurement of high-energy reactor antineutrinos at Daya Bay, with nearly 9000 inverse beta decay candidates in the prompt energy region of 8-12~MeV observed over 1958 days of data collection. A multivariate analysis is used to separate 2500 signal events from background statistically. The hypothesis of no reactor antineutrinos with neutrino energy above 10~MeV is rejected with a significance of 6.2 standard deviations. A 29\% antineutrino flux deficit in the prompt energy region of 8-11~MeV is observed compared to a recent model prediction. We provide the unfolded antineutrino spectrum above 7 MeV as a data-based reference for other experiments. This result provides the first direct observation of the production of antineutrinos from several high-$Q_β$ isotopes in commercial reactors.

The nucleus $^{29}$Ne is situated at the border of the island of inversion. Despite significant efforts, no bound low-lying intruder $f_{7/2}$-state, which would place $^{29}$Ne firmly inside the island of inversion, has yet been observed. Here, the first investigation of unbound states of $^{29}$Ne is reported. The states were populated in $^{30}\mathrm{Ne}(p,pn)$ and $^{30}\mathrm{Na}(p,2p)$ reactions at a beam energy of around $230$ MeV/nucleon, and analyzed in terms of their resonance properties, partial cross sections and momentum distributions. The momentum distributions are compared to calculations using the eikonal, direct reaction model, allowing $\ell$-assignments for the observed states. The lowest-lying resonance at an excitation energy of 1.48(4) MeV shows clear signs of a significant $\ell$=3-component, giving first evidence for $f_{7/2}$ single particle strength in $^{29}$Ne. The excitation energies and strengths of the observed states are compared to shell-model calculations using the sdpf-u-mix interaction

The intensity interferometry is applied as a chronometer of the particle emission of hydrogen isotopes from the intermediate velocity source formed in $^{40}$Ar+$^{197}$Au reactions at 30 MeV/u. The dynamic emission order of $τ_{\rm p}>τ_{\rm d}>τ_{\rm t}$ is evidenced via the correlation functions of nonidentical particle pairs. Assuming the similar source size, the same emission order is inferred from the correlation functions of identical particle pairs, where $τ_{\rm p} \approx 100 {\rm ~fm/c}$ is extracted by the fit of Koonin-Pratt equation to p-p correlation function. Transport model simulations demonstrate that the dynamic emission order of light charged particles depends on the stiffness of the nuclear symmetry energy.

Unexplained variations of the decay rate for weak interaction decays such as $β^{\pm}$-decay, electron capture, as well as strong interaction $α$-decay have been reported. Some researcher interpreted these variations as caused by an unexplained fundamental interaction. The purpose of the paper is to review decay rate parameter variations experiments and place them into a common comparable context and to make decay parameter measurements at the level of 10$^{-5}$ in the presences of an antineutrino flux, $\sim 3 \times10^{12}$ $\overlineν \, cm^{-2} \, sec^{-1}$, 6.5 meters from the High Flux Isotope Reactor(HFIR) reactor core having an on-off cycle time of $\sim$30 days. Two weak interaction decays, one via electron capture and the other via $β^-$ decay were selected because the final state and the time reverse state each contain a neutrino and anti-neutrino, covering arguments that the anti-neutrino flux may interact differently or not at all in one of the cases. The experiment searched for variation of the $^{54}_{25}$Mn, e$^-$ capture and $^{137}_{~55}$Cs, $β^-$ decay rate parameters. The measured variation in the decay rate parameters are found to be $δλ/ λ= (0.034\pm 1.38)\times 10^{-5}$ for $^{54}_{25}$Mn and $δλ/ λ= (0.67\pm 1.56)\times 10^{-5}$ for $^{137}_{~55}$Cs. These results are consistent with no measurable decay rate parameter variation due to an antineutrino flux, yielding a $68\%$ confidence level upper limit sensitivity for $^{54}_{25}$Mn, $δλ/ λ\leq 1.31\times10^{-5}$ or $σ\leq 1.29\times10^{-25}\,cm^{2}$ in cross section and for $^{137}_{~55}$Cs, $δλ/ λ\leq 2.23\times10^{-5}$ or $σ\leq 5.69\times10^{-27}\,cm^{2}$. These null or no observable effect measurements places cross-section upper limits $\sim 10^{4}$ times more sensitive than past experiments.

A first gamma-ray study of 47,49Cl spectroscopy was performed at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory with 50Ar projectiles at 217 MeV/nucleon, impinging on the liquid hydrogen target of the MINOS device. Prompt de-excitation gamma-rays were measured with the NaI(Tl) array DALI2+. Through the one-proton knockout reaction 50Ar(p,2p), a spin assignment could be determined for the low-lying states of 49Cl from the momentum distribution obtained with the SAMURAI spectrometer. A spin-parity J = 3/2+ is deduced for the ground state of 49Cl, similar to the recently studied N = 32 isotope 51K.

The experiment of Ar+Au reactions at 30 MeV/u have been performed using the Compact Spectrometer for Heavy IoN Experiments (CSHINE) in phase I. The light-charged particles are measured by the silicon stripe telescopes in coincidence with the fission fragments recorded by the parallel plate avalanche counters. The distribution properties of the azimuth difference $Δφ$ and the time-of-flight difference $ΔTOF$ of the fission fragments are presented varying the folding angles which represents the linear momentum transfer from the projectile to the reaction system. The relative abundance of the light charged particles in the fission events to the inclusive events is compared as a function of the laboratory angle $θ_{\rm lab}$ ranging from $18^\circ$ to $60^\circ$ in various folding angle windows. The angular evolution of the yield ratios of p/d and t/d in coincidence with fission fragments is investigated. In a relative comparison, tritons are more abundantly emitted at small angles, while protons are more abundant at large angles. The angular evolution of the neutron richness of the light-charged particles is consistent with the results obtained in previous inclusive experiments.

The past few decades have seen major developments in the design and operation of cryogenic particle detectors. This technology offers an extremely good energy resolution - comparable to semiconductor detectors - and a wide choice of target materials, making low temperature calorimetric detectors ideal for a variety of particle physics applications. Rare event searches have continued to require ever greater exposures, which has driven them to ever larger cryogenic detectors, with the CUORE experiment being the first to reach a tonne-scale, mK-cooled, experimental mass. CUORE, designed to search for neutrinoless double beta decay, has been operational since 2017 at a temperature of about 10 mK. This result has been attained by the use of an unprecedentedly large cryogenic infrastructure called the CUORE cryostat: conceived, designed and commissioned for this purpose. In this article the main characteristics and features of the cryogenic facility developed for the CUORE experiment are highlighted. A brief introduction of the evolution of the field and of the past cryogenic facilities are given. The motivation behind the design and development of the CUORE cryogenic facility is detailed as are the steps taken toward realization, commissioning, and operation of the CUORE cryostat. The major challenges overcome by the collaboration and the solutions implemented throughout the building of the cryogenic facility will be discussed along with the potential improvements for future facilities. The success of CUORE has opened the door to a new generation of large-scale cryogenic facilities in numerous fields of science. Broader implications of the incredible feat achieved by the CUORE collaboration on the future cryogenic facilities in various fields ranging from neutrino and dark matter experiments to quantum computing will be examined.

A joint determination of the reactor antineutrino spectra resulting from the fission of $^{235}$U and $^{239}$Pu has been carried out by the Daya Bay and PROSPECT collaborations. This Letter reports the level of consistency of $^{235}$U spectrum measurements from the two experiments and presents new results from a joint analysis of both data sets. The measurements are found to be consistent. The combined analysis reduces the degeneracy between the dominant $^{235}$U and $^{239}$Pu isotopes and improves the uncertainty of the $^{235}$U spectral shape to about 3\%. The ${}^{235}$U and $^{239}$Pu antineutrino energy spectra are unfolded from the jointly deconvolved reactor spectra using the Wiener-SVD unfolding method, providing a data-based reference for other reactor antineutrino experiments and other applications. This is the first measurement of the $^{235}$U and $^{239}$Pu spectra based on the combination of experiments at low- and highly enriched uranium reactors.

This report describes the physics case, the resulting detector requirements, and the evolving detector concepts for the experimental program at the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). The EIC will be a powerful new high-luminosity facility in the United States with the capability to collide high-energy electron beams with high-energy proton and ion beams, providing access to those regions in the nucleon and nuclei where their structure is dominated by gluons. Moreover, polarized beams in the EIC will give unprecedented access to the spatial and spin structure of the proton, neutron, and light ions. The studies leading to this document were commissioned and organized by the EIC User Group with the objective of advancing the state and detail of the physics program and developing detector concepts that meet the emerging requirements in preparation for the realization of the EIC. The effort aims to provide the basis for further development of concepts for experimental equipment best suited for the science needs, including the importance of two complementary detectors and interaction regions.
This report consists of three volumes. Volume I is an executive summary of our findings and developed concepts. In Volume II we describe studies of a wide range of physics measurements and the emerging requirements on detector acceptance and performance. Volume III discusses general-purpose detector concepts and the underlying technologies to meet the physics requirements. These considerations will form the basis for a world-class experimental program that aims to increase our understanding of the fundamental structure of all visible matter

New transitions in neutron rich $^{100}$Y have been identified in a $^9$Be+$^{238}$U experiment with mass- and Z- gates to provide full fragment identification. These transitions and high spin levels of $^{100}$Y have been investigated by analyzing the high statistics $γ$-$γ$-$γ$ and $γ$-$γ$-$γ$-$γ$ coincidence data from the spontaneous fission of $^{252}$Cf at the Gammasphere detector array. Two new bands, 14 new levels and 23 new transitions have been identified. The $K^π=4^+$ new band decaying to an 1s isomeric state is assigned to be the high-$K$ Gallagher-Moszkowski (GM) partner of the known $K^π=1^+$ band, with the $π5/2[522] \otimes ν3/2[411]$ configuration. This 4$^+$ band is also proposed to be the pseudo spin partner of the new $K^π=5^+$ band with a 5$^{+}$ $π5/2[422] \otimes ν5/2[413]$ configuration, to form a $π5/2[422] \otimes ν[312$ $5/2,3/2]$ neutron pseudospin doublet. Constrained triaxial covariant density functional theory and quantal particle rotor model calculations have been applied to interpret the band structure and available electromagnetic transition probabilities and are found in good agreement with experimental values.
