There is a long-standing puzzle that the CP violation (CPV) in the baryon systems has never been well established in experiments, while the CPV of mesons have been observed by decades. In this paper, we propose that the CPV of baryon decays can be generated by the scatterings of a nucleon and a pion into some final states, i.e. $N$ scatterings. Benefited by the fruitful data of $Nπ$ scatterings, we can model-independently analyse the strong phases of $b$-baryon decays using the partial wave amplitudes of $Nπ$ scatterings. This makes a great advantage to predict the CPV of baryon decays. We study the processes of $Λ_b^0\to (pπ^+π^-)h^-$, $(pπ^0)h^-$ with $h=π$ or $K$. It is found that the total CPV of the above processes in the invariant mass region of $Nπ$ scatterings are at the order of several percent. More importantly, the regional CPV in the Dalitz plot can reach as large as $20\%$. Therefore, we suggest to measure the CPV of these processes, which has a large possibility to achieve the first observation of CPV in the baryon system.

We derive self-consistent collider constraints on $Z'$ bosons with kinetic mixing in a narrow mass window around the $Z$ boson, considering both model-independent and model-dependent bounds. Our treatment elucidates the importance of both avoided level crossing and width suppression due to the quantum Zeno effect in interpreting the existing constraints. We also discuss the implications for future measurements on the $Z$-pole.

The similar densities of dark matter and baryons in the universe imply that they might arise from the same ultraviolet model. The B-Mesogenesis, which assumes dark matter is charged under the baryon number, attempts to simultaneously explain the origin of baryon asymmetry and dark matter in the universe. In particular, the B-Mesogenesis might induce bottom-baryon decays into invisible or semi-invisible final states, which provide a distinctive signal for probing this scenario. In this work, we systematically study the invisible decays of bottom baryons into dark matters, and semi-invisible decays of bottom baryons into a meson or a photon together with a dark matter particle. In particular, the fully invisible decay can explore the stable particles in B-Mesogenesis. Some QCD-based frameworks are used to calculate the hadronic matrix elements under the B-Mesogenesis model. We estimate the constraints on the Wilson coefficients or the product of some new physics couplings with the Wilson coefficients by the semi-invisible and invisible decays of bottom baryons at future colliders.

The doubly charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ has been observed by LHCb through the non-leptonic decay modes of $Ξ_{cc}^{++}\toΛ_{c}^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{+}$ and $Ξ_{c}^{+}π^{+}$ in 2017. After that, the experimentalists turn their attention to finding other doubly charmed baryons $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$ and $Ω_{cc}^{+}$. In this work, we investigate the nonleptonic weak decays of doubly charmed baryons ${\cal B}_{cc}\to{\cal B}_{c}P$, where ${\cal B}_{cc}$ denotes the doubly charmed baryons $(Ξ_{cc}^{++},Ξ_{cc}^{+},Ω_{cc}^{+})$, ${\cal B}_{c}$ represents the singly charmed baryons $({\cal B}_{\bar{3}},{\cal B}_{6})$ and $P$ is the light pseudoscalar. For these non-leptonic decay modes, their short-distance contributions can be accurately estimated in theoretical calculations. However, dealing with the long-distance contributions for final-state-interaction effects is challenging. To address this, we use the rescattering mechanism to calculate the long-distance contributions and first derive the whole hadronic loop contributions for these two-body nonleptonic decays of doubly charmed baryons. Then the decay widths and branching ratios of the 45 nonleptonic decays of doubly charmed baryon are predicted. Among that, the ratio of the branching ratios ${\cal RB}=\frac{{\cal B}(Ξ_{cc}^{++}\toΞ_{c}^{\prime+}π^{+})}{{\cal B}(Ξ_{cc}^{++}\toΞ_{c}^{+}π^{+})}=1.15\pm0.45$ is consistent with the experimental results within statistical errors.

We study the anharmonic double well in quantum mechanics using exact Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) methods in a 't Hooft-like double scaling limit where classical behavior is expected to dominate. We compute the tunneling action in this double scaling limit, and compare it to the transition amplitude from the vacuum to a highly excited state. Our results, exact in the semiclassical limit, show that the two expressions coincide, apart from an irreducible and surprising instanton contribution. Thus, the semiclassical limit of the anharmonic oscillator betrays its quantum origin as a rule, which we dub the "quantum imprint rule," showing that the quantum theory is intrinsically gapped from classical behavior. Besides an example of the failure of reductionism and an example of a resurgent connection between perturbative and nonperturbative physics, this work provides a possible classification of theories according to their quantum imprints.

Numerous observations suggest that there exist undiscovered beyond-the-Standard-Model particles and fields. Because of their unknown nature, these exotic particles and fields could interact with Standard Model particles in many different ways and assume a variety of possible configurations. Here we present an overview of the Global Network of Optical Magnetometers for Exotic physics searches (GNOME), our ongoing experimental program designed to test a wide range of exotic physics scenarios. The GNOME experiment utilizes a worldwide network of shielded atomic magnetometers (and, more recently, comagnetometers) to search for spatially and temporally correlated signals due to torques on atomic spins from exotic fields of astrophysical origin. We survey the temporal characteristics of a variety of possible signals currently under investigation such as those from topological defect dark matter (axion-like particle domain walls), axion-like particle stars, solitons of complex-valued scalar fields (Q-balls), stochastic fluctuations of bosonic dark matter fields, a solar axion-like particle halo, and bursts of ultralight bosonic fields produced by cataclysmic astrophysical events such as binary black hole mergers.

Dark Matter particles in the Galactic Center and halo can annihilate or decay into a pair of neutrinos producing a monochromatic flux of neutrinos. The spectral feature of this signal is unique and it is not expected from any astrophysical production mechanism. Its observation would constitute a dark matter smoking gun signal. We performed the first dedicated search with a neutrino telescope for such signal, by looking at both the angular and energy information of the neutrino events. To this end, a total of five years of IceCube's DeepCore data has been used to test dark matter masses ranging from 10~GeV to 40~TeV. No significant neutrino excess was found and upper limits on the annihilation cross section, as well as lower limits on the dark matter lifetime, were set. The limits reached are of the order of $10^{-24}$~cm$^3/s$ for an annihilation and up to $10^{27}$ seconds for decaying Dark Matter. Using the same data sample we also derive limits for dark matter annihilation or decay into a pair of Standard Model charged particles.

We propose a novel theoretical framework to calculate the non-perturbative QCD quantities. It starts from the dispersion relation of quantum field theory, separating the high-energy and low-energy scales and using the known perturbative theories to solve the unknown non-perturbative quantities by the inverse problem. We prove that the inverse problem of dispersion relation is ill-posed, with unique but unstable solutions. The regularization methods must be used to get the stable approximate solutions. The method is based on the strict mathematics, without any artificial assumptions. We have test some toy models to vividly show the main features of the inverse problem. It can be found that this approach can systematically improve the precision of the solutions.

The CP asymmetries induced by the T-odd correlations, where T is the time reversal, were proposed in literature long time before, but have never been established in experiments. We provide a first proof in this letter that under two general conditions, the T-odd CP asymmetries are proportional to the cosine of relative strong phases, $\cosδ_{s}$. It improves the understandings of the T-odd CP asymmetries. Furthermore, we propose to measure both the CP asymmetries induced by T-odd correlations and their corresponding T-even correlations, where the latter ones are proportional to the sine of the relative strong phases. In this way, the complementarity of the T-odd and T-even CP asymmetries can avoid their suppression by the strong phases with some specific values. We emphasize that this is helpful to search for the CP asymmetries in baryon decays, which is crucial to the understanding of the baryon-anti-baryon asymmetry in the universe. In the end, it is clearly shown that the T-odd correlations and their complementarity to the T-even correlations can be illustrated in the angular distributions in the example chain decay.

Offering a combination of unprecedented energy collisions in a comparatively clean leptonic environment, a high energy muon collider has the unique potential to provide both precision measurements and the highest energy reach in one machine that cannot be paralleled by any currently available technology. The topic generated a lot of excitement in Snowmass meetings and continues to attract a large number of supporters, including many from the early career community. In light of this very strong interest within the US particle physics community, Snowmass Energy, Theory and Accelerator Frontiers created a cross-frontier Muon Collider Forum in November of 2020. The hyperons are polarized in the weak charm decays, so that we can measure the Lee-Yang asymmetric parameter $α$ by the angular distributions, and then can measure the $α$-induced CPV. It can be found that it is accessible for Belle II and LHCb to reach the SM prediction of the hyperon CPV in the near future.

We construct a new framework to calculate the enhancement of axion masses and concomitant effects on axion-meson mixing arising from small size instantons (SSIs), which originate in models featuring an extended color gauge symmetry. The framework is based on an explicit evaluation of 't Hooft determinantal operators that partition into instanton amplitudes, affording a more precise determination of the axion-diphoton coupling than previous results. Using an explicit model first presented in Ref. arXiv:1805.06465, we demonstrate that axions solving the strong CP problem can have electroweak scale masses and higher, driven by SSI effects. Such collider axions are prime targets for resonance searches at the Large Hadron Collider and afford a unique anchor for motivating extended color symmetries.

Especially, it is suggested to experimentally search for the predicted new pentaquark system via the weak decays of $B$ mesons or $b$-baryons, with the support from the study of the mass spectrum and the decay properties. The predicted new pentaquark system must attract extensive attention from experimentalists and theorists when it constructs the ``particle zoo 2.0" in the near future.

In this work we calculate the transition form factors of $Λ_b$ decaying into proton and $N^*(1535)$ ($J^P={1/2}^+$ and ${1/2}^-$ respectively), within the framework of light-cone sum rules with the distribution amplitudes (DAs) of $Λ_b$-baryon. In the hadronic representation of the correlation function, we have isolated both the proton and the $N^*(1535)$ states so that the $Λ_b \rightarrow p, N^*(1535)$ form factors can be evaluated simultaneously. Due to the less known properties of baryons, we investigate three interpolating currents of the light baryons and five parametrization models for DAs of $Λ_b $. Numerically, our predictions on the $Λ_b \rightarrow p$ form factors and the branching fractions of $Λ_b\to p\ell ν$ from the Ioffe or the tensor currents are consistent with the Lattice simulation and the results from the light-baryon sum rules, as well as the experimental data of $Br(Λ_b^0\to pμ^-\barν)$. The predictions on the form factors of $Λ_b \rightarrow N^*(1535)$ are very sensitive to the choice of the interpolating currents so that the relevant measurement could be helpful to clarify the properties of baryons.

The search for dark matter is one of the main science drivers of the particle and astroparticle physics communities. Determining the nature of dark matter will require a broad approach, with a range of experiments pursuing different experimental hypotheses. Within this search program, collider experiments provide insights on dark matter which are complementary to direct/indirect detection experiments and to astrophysical evidence. To compare results from a wide variety of experiments, a common theoretical framework is required. The ATLAS and CMS experiments have adopted a set of simplified models which introduce two new particles, a dark matter particle and a mediator, and whose interaction strengths are set by the couplings of the mediator.
So far, the presentation of LHC and future hadron collider results has focused on four benchmark scenarios with specific coupling values within these simplified models. In this work, we describe ways to extend those four benchmark scenarios to arbitrary couplings, and release the corresponding code for use in further studies. This will allow for more straightforward comparison of collider searches to accelerator experiments that are sensitive to smaller couplings, such as those for the US Community Study on the Future of Particle Physics (Snowmass 2021), and will give a more complete picture of the coupling dependence of dark matter collider searches when compared to direct and indirect detection searches. By using semi-analytical methods to rescale collider limits, we drastically reduce the computing resources needed relative to traditional approaches based on the generation of additional simulated signal samples.

The decay width of the $D_s^{\ast}$ meson is dominated by the electromagnetic mode $D_s^\ast \to D_s γ$, and it is thus the longest-lived charged vector meson. In light of this point, we perform the first QCD LCSRs calculation of $D_s^{\ast}\to φ$ helicity form factors and discuss the experiment potential of discovering exclusive $D_s^{\ast}$ weak decays. The main result is the partial decay widths, which read as $Γ_{D_s^\ast \to l ν} = 2.44 \times 10^{-12} \, {\rm GeV}$, $Γ_{D_s^\ast \to φl ν} = (3.28^{+0.82}_{-0.71}) \times 10^{-14} \, {\rm GeV}$, $Γ_{D_s^{\ast} \to φπ} = ( 3.81^{+1.52}_{-1.33} ) \times 10^{-14} \, {\rm GeV}$ and $Γ_{D_s^{\ast}\to φρ} = ( 1.16^{+0.42}_{-0.39} ) \times 10^{-13} \, {\rm GeV}$. We show that these channels are promising in the near future, serving as the first experimental observation of weak decays of a vector meson, and would open up a new playground for precision test of the standard model.

We reanalyze the $Λ_b\to p$ transition form factors in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach by including higher-twist light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs) of a $Λ_b$ baryon and a proton. The previous PQCD evaluation performed decades ago with only the leading-twist $Λ_b$ baryon and proton LCDAs gave the form factors, which are two orders of magnitude smaller than indicated by experimental data. We find that the twist-4 $Λ_b$ baryon LCDAs and the twist-4 and -5 proton LCDAs contribute dominantly, and the enhanced form factors become consistent with those from lattice QCD and other nonperturbative methods. The estimated branching ratios of the semileptonic decays $Λ_b\to p\ell\barν_\ell$ and the hadronic decay $Λ_b\to pπ$ are also close to the data. It implies that the $b$ quark mass is not really heavy enough, and higher-power contributions play a crucial role, similar to the observation made in analyses of $B$ meson transition form factors. With the formalism established in this work, we are ready to study various exclusive heavy baryon decays systematically in the PQCD approach.

This also illustrates the comparison of low-mass LHC sensitivity with constraints on the flavor-independent $Z'$ boson from electroweak and quarkonium measurements. To derive these constraints, we compute the $Z'$ mixing with the $Z$, the photon, and the $Υ$ meson, emphasizing the logarithmic dependence on the masses of the new electroweak-charged fermions (``anomalons") required to cancel the gauge anomalies. We update the coupling-mass plot, extending it for $Z'$ masses from 5 GeV to 5 TeV.

We suggest to study the production mechanism and some details of the production properties to probe the structure of the DDpi resonance T_cc^+ recently observed by the LHCb Collaboration. If the resonance is produced as a four-quark state, one can find the corresponding finger prints via measurements on some production properties that are the same as those of Xi_cc. The reason is that a special colour connection on the interface between the perturbative and non perturbative QCD is required for these doubly-charm hadron production. On the other hand, if T_cc^+ is produced as a hadron molecule, the measurement on the momentum correlation of DD^* can be a smoking gun to make the judgement. The present data favour a compact four-quark state production via the cc diquark fragmentation.

With a distinctive internal structure from all established hadrons, the beauty-charmed baryons $Ξ_{bc}$ can provide us with new points of view to decipher the strong interaction. In this work, we point out that the inclusive $Ξ_{bc} \to Ξ_{cc}^{++}+X$ decay is a golden channel for the experimental discovery of $Ξ_{bc}$ at the LHC. A unique feature of this process is that the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ is displaced, which greatly reduces the combinatorial background. A feasibility analysis is performed on the $Ξ_{bc}^+$ search, which is expected to have a longer lifetime than $Ξ_{bc}^0$ and thus a better displacement resolution. The $Ξ_{bc}^+ \to Ξ_{cc}^{++}+X$ branching ratio is calculated within the heavy diquark effective theory. Combining the $Ξ_{bc}$ production rate and the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ detection efficiency, we anticipate that hundreds of signal events will be collected during LHCb Run 3.

New $U(1)$ gauge theories involving Standard Model (SM) fermions typically require additional electroweak fermions for anomaly cancellation. We study the non-decoupling properties of these new fermions, called anomalons, in the $Z-Z'-γ$ vertex function, reviewing the connection between the full model and the effective Wess-Zumino operator. We calculate the exotic $Z \to Z' γ$ decay width in $U(1)_{B-L}$ and $U(1)_B$ models, where $B$ and $L$ denote the SM baryon and lepton number symmetries. For $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge symmetry, each generation of SM fermions is anomaly free and the exotic $Z \to Z_{BL}' γ$ decay width is entirely induced by intragenerational mass splittings. In contrast, for $U(1)_B$ gauge symmetry, the existence of two distinct sources of chiral symmetry breaking enables a heavy, anomaly-free set of fermions to have an irreducible contribution to the $Z \to Z_B' γ$ decay width. We show that the current LEP limits on the exotic $Z \to Z'_B γ$ decay are weaker than previously estimated, and low-mass $Z'_B$ dijet resonance searches are currently more constraining. We present a summary of the current collider bounds on $U(1)_B$ and a projection for a TeraZ factory on the $Z \to Z_B' γ$ exotic decay, and emphasize how the $Z \to Z' γ$ decay is emblematic of new anomalous $U(1)$ gauge symmetries.

To explore the nature of $X_{0,1}(2900)$, except for analyzing their masses and decay widths as usually did in literatures, the study of their production mechanism in $B$-meson weak decays would provide another important information. The amplitude of $B^-\to D^- X_{0,1}$ is non-factorizable. We consider the final-state-interaction effects and calculate them via the rescattering mechanism. The measured branching fractions of $B^-\to D^- X_{0,1}$ are revealed. It is manifested by ${B}^-\to Λ_c^-Ξ_c^{(\prime)0}$ and $Λ_b^0\to P_c^+K^-$ that the rescattering mechanism can result in the relatively large branching fractions. The similar processes of $B^-\to π^-X_{0,1}$ are also analyzed. The isospins of $X_{0,1}$ can be investigated by $B\to DX_{0,1}^{\pm,0}$ decays.

We propose a systematic theoretical framework for the topological amplitudes of the heavy meson decays and their $SU(N)$ decomposition. In the framework, the topological amplitudes are expressed in invariant tensors and classified into tree- and penguin-operator-induced diagrams according to which four-quark operators, tree or penguin, being inserted into their effective weak vertexes. By decomposing the four-quark operators into irreducible representations of $SU(N)$ group, one can derive the $SU(N)$ irreducible amplitudes from the tensor form of the topology. Taking the $D\to PP$ decay ($P$ denoting a pseudoscalar meson) with $SU(3)_F$ symmetry as an example, we show our framework in detail. The fact that some topologies are not independent in the $SU(3)_F$ limit is explained by group theory. It is found that there are only nine independent topologies in all tree- and penguin-operator-induced diagrams contributing to the $D\to PP$ decays in the Standard Model. If a large quark-loop diagram is assumed, the large $ΔA_{CP}$ and the very different $D^0\to K^+K^-$ and $D^0\to π^+π^-$ branching fractions can be explained with a normal $U$-spin breaking. Moreover, our framework provides a simple and systematic way to analyze the $SU(N)$ breaking effects. As examples, the linear $SU(3)_F$ breaking and the high order $U$-spin breaking in charm decays are re-investigated in our framework, which are consistent with literature. We propose the concepts of splitting and degeneracy of topologies, and use them to describe the charm-less bottom decay. We find $SU(3)_F$ analysis for the charm-less $B$ decays is different from the $D$ decays because the charm-quark loop is beyond the $SU(3)$ symmetry and should be investigated in the symmetry breaking chain of $SU(4)\to SU(3)$.

We calculate the parameters $x$ and $y$ for the $D$ meson mixing in the Standard Model by considering a dispersion relation between them. The dispersion relation for a fictitious charm quark of arbitrary mass squared $s$ is turned into an inverse problem, via which the mixing parameters at low $s$ are solved with the perturbative inputs $x(s)$ and $y(s)$ from large $s$. It is shown that nontrivial solutions for $x$ and $y$ exist, whose values around the physical charm scale agree with the data in both CP-conserving and CP-violating cases. We then predict the observables $|q/p|-1\approx 2\times 10^{-4}$ and $Arg(q/p)\approx 6\times 10^{-3}$ degrees associated with the coefficient ratio for the $D$ meson mixing, which can be confronted with more precise future measurements. Our work represents the first successful quantitative attempt to explain the $D$ meson mixing parameters in the Standard Model.

Hundreds of amplitude relations are clearly provided, and are classified according to the $I$-, $U$- and $V$-spin symmetries. Among them, some amplitude relations are tested by the experimental data, or used to predict the branching fractions based on the exact flavor symmetry without any other approximation. Some relations of $K^0_S-K^0_L$ asymmetries and $CP$ asymmetries are obtained under the $U$-spin symmetry in the modes of charmed baryon decaying into neutral kaons. Besides, the $U$-spin breaking effect is explored in the $Λ_c^+\to Σ^+K^{*0}$ and $Ξ_c^+\to p\bar{K}^{*0}$ modes.

Abstract:
A sizable right-handed photon polarization in $b\to sγ$ is a clear signal for new physics. In this work we point out that the photon helicity in $b\to sγ$ can be unambiguously extracted by combining the measurements in $B\to K_1γ$ and the Cabibbo-favored $D\to K_1 e^+ν$ decay. Abstract:
Very recently, the LHCb Collaboration observed the $CP$ violation (CPV) in the charm sector for the first time, with $ΔA_{CP}^{\rm dir}\equiv A_{CP}(D^0\to K^+K^-)-A_{CP}(D^0\to π^+π^-)=(-1.54\pm0.29)\times10^{-3}$. This result is consistent with our prediction of $ΔA_{CP}^{\rm SM}=(-0.57\sim -1.87)\times 10^{-3}$ obtained in the factorization-assisted topological-amplitude (FAT) approach in [PRD8…

It implies that the current understanding of the penguin dynamics in charm decays in the Standard Model is reasonable. Motivated by the success of the FAT approach, we further suggest to measure the $D^+\to K^+K^-π^+$ decay, which is the next potential mode to reveal the CPV of the same order as $10^{-3}$.

The exotic state $X(5568)$ which was observed by D0 Collaboration is very likely to be a tetraquark state with four different valence quark flavors, though the existence was not confirmed by other collaborations. The possibility of such state still generate lots of interests in theory. In the paper, we will study the properties of the state under the SU(3) flavor symmetry. This four quark state with a heavy bottom quark and three light quarks(anti-quark) can form a $6$ or $\overline {15}$ representation. The weak decays can be dominant and should be discussed carefully while such state is stable against the strong interaction. Therefor we will study the multi-body semileptonic and nonleptonic weak decays systematically. With the help of SU(3) flavor symmetry, we can give the Hamiltonian in the hadronic level, then obtain the parameterized irreducible amplitudes and the relations of different channels. At the end of the article, we collect some Cabibbo allowed two-body and three-body weak decay channels which can be used to reconstruct $X_{b6}$ states at the branching fraction up to be $10^{-5}$.

We analyze the capacity of future $Z$-factories to search for heavy neutrinos with their mass from 10 to 85 GeV. The heavy neutrinos $N$ are considered to be produced via the process $e^+e^-\to Z\to νN$ and to decay into an electron or muon and two jets. By means of Monte Carlo simulation of such signal events and the Standard Model background events, we obtain the upper bounds on the cross sections $σ(e^+e^-\to νN\to ν\ell jj)$ given by the $Z$-factories with integrated luminosities of 0.1, 1 and 10 ab$^{-1}$ if no signal events are observed. Under the assumption of a minimal extension of the Standard Model in the neutrino sector, we also present the corresponding constraints on the mixing parameters of the heavy neutrinos with the Standard Model leptons, and find they are improved by at least one order compared to current experimental constraints.

The discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012, by the ATLAS and CMS experiments, was a success achieved with only a percent of the entire dataset foreseen for the LHC. It opened a landscape of possibilities in the study of Higgs boson properties, Electroweak Symmetry breaking and the Standard Model in general, as well as new avenues in probing new physics beyond the Standard Model. Six years after the discovery, with a conspicuously larger dataset collected during LHC Run 2 at a 13 TeV centre-of-mass energy, the theory and experimental particle physics communities have started a meticulous exploration of the potential for precision measurements of its properties. This includes studies of Higgs boson production and decays processes, the search for rare decays and production modes, high energy observables, and searches for an extended electroweak symmetry breaking sector. This report summarises the potential reach and opportunities in Higgs physics during the High Luminosity phase of the LHC, with an expected dataset of pp collisions at 14 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 ab$^{-1}$. These studies are performed in light of the most recent analyses from LHC collaborations and the latest theoretical developments. The potential of an LHC upgrade, colliding protons at a centre-of-mass energy of 27 TeV and producing a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 15 ab$^{-1}$, is also discussed.

This is the third out of five chapters of the final report [1] of the Workshop on Physics at HL-LHC, and perspectives on HE-LHC [2]. It is devoted to the study of the potential, in the search for Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics, of the High Luminosity (HL) phase of the LHC, defined as $3~\mathrm{ab}^{-1}$ of data taken at a centre-of-mass energy of $14~\mathrm{TeV}$, and of a possible future upgrade, the High Energy (HE) LHC, defined as $15~\mathrm{ab}^{-1}$ of data at a centre-of-mass energy of $27~\mathrm{TeV}$. We consider a large variety of new physics models, both in a simplified model fashion and in a more model-dependent one. A long list of contributions from the theory and experimental (ATLAS, CMS, LHCb) communities have been collected and merged together to give a complete, wide, and consistent view of future prospects for BSM physics at the considered colliders. On top of the usual standard candles, such as supersymmetric simplified models and resonances, considered for the evaluation of future collider potentials, this report contains results on dark matter and dark sectors, long lived particles, leptoquarks, sterile neutrinos, axion-like particles, heavy scalars, vector-like quarks, and more. Particular attention is placed, especially in the study of the HL-LHC prospects, to the detector upgrades, the assessment of the future systematic uncertainties, and new experimental techniques. The general conclusion is that the HL-LHC, on top of allowing to extend the present LHC mass and coupling reach by $20-50\%$ on most new physics scenarios, will also be able to constrain, and potentially discover, new physics that is presently unconstrained. Moreover, compared to the HL-LHC, the reach in most observables will generally more than double at the HE-LHC, which may represent a good candidate future facility for a final test of TeV-scale new physics.

We document the extraordinary breadth of the HL/HE-LHC programme enabled by a putative Upgrade II of the dedicated flavour physics experiment LHCb and the evolution of the established flavour physics role of the ATLAS and CMS general purpose experiments. We connect the dedicated flavour physics programme to studies of the top quark, Higgs boson, and direct high-$p_T$ searches for new particles and force carriers. We discuss the complementarity of their discovery potential for physics beyond the Standard Model, affirming the necessity to fully exploit the LHC's flavour physics potential throughout its upgrade eras.

We examine the theoretical motivations for long-lived particle (LLP) signals at the LHC in a comprehensive survey of Standard Model (SM) extensions. LLPs are a common prediction of a wide range of theories that address unsolved fundamental mysteries such as naturalness, dark matter, baryogenesis and neutrino masses, and represent a natural and generic possibility for physics beyond the SM (BSM). In most cases the LLP lifetime can be treated as a free parameter from the $μ$m scale up to the Big Bang Nucleosynthesis limit of $\sim 10^7$m. Neutral LLPs with lifetimes above $\sim$ 100m are particularly difficult to probe, as the sensitivity of the LHC main detectors is limited by challenging backgrounds, triggers, and small acceptances. MATHUSLA is a proposal for a minimally instrumented, large-volume surface detector near ATLAS or CMS. It would search for neutral LLPs produced in HL-LHC collisions by reconstructing displaced vertices (DVs) in a low-background environment, extending the sensitivity of the main detectors by orders of magnitude in the long-lifetime regime. In this white paper we study the LLP physics opportunities afforded by a MATHUSLA-like detector at the HL-LHC. We develop a model-independent approach to describe the sensitivity of MATHUSLA to BSM LLP signals, and compare it to DV and missing energy searches at ATLAS or CMS. We then explore the BSM motivations for LLPs in considerable detail, presenting a large number of new sensitivity studies. While our discussion is especially oriented towards the long-lifetime regime at MATHUSLA, this survey underlines the importance of a varied LLP search program at the LHC in general. By synthesizing these results into a general discussion of the top-down and bottom-up motivations for LLP searches, it is our aim to demonstrate the exceptional strength and breadth of the physics case for the construction of the MATHUSLA detector.

The time-dependent $CP$ asymmetry in $B^0 \to K_{\rm res} γ\to π^+ π^- K^0_{\scriptscriptstyle S} γ$ is sensitive to the photon polarisation in the quark level process $b \to s γ$. While this polarisation is predominantly left-handed in the standard model, it could be modified by the existence of new physics contributions that may possess different $CP$ properties. In this paper, we derive the $CP$ violation formulae for $B^0 \to K_{\rm res} γ\to π^+ π^- K^0_{\scriptscriptstyle S} γ$ including the most dominant intermediate states. We propose a new observable that could be measured in a time-dependent amplitude analysis of $B^0 \to π^+ π^- K^0_{\scriptscriptstyle S} γ$ decays, providing a stringent contraint on the photon polarisation. We discuss the future prospects for obtaining such constraints from measurements at Belle II and LHCb.
