"Shadow Armada" is a turn-based 2D space shooter where your objective is to destroy all enemy ships.
If you are interested in turn-based strategy games, you should take a closer look at this game, because there are not too many good freeware titles in this genre.
And in fact "Shadow Armada" is a very nice game and even better than you would expect. The game itself is very complex because of the great variety of spaceships, weapons and missions you can choose from. Even when you use the three different tutorials before you start the "real" game it will take some time before you know the different effects and the pros and contras of every ship and weapon. And probably even longer before you figure out the right tactics to destroy your enemy and win a game for the first time.
There's also a good system of leveling up and getting better skills (for example in navigating or aiming) when you shoot down a certain amount of enemies. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to save this progress to start with better abilities the next time you start playing after you quit.
There is also a very good multiplayer mode which is easy to use (Computer will create an account for you the first time you use this mode and you can choose your battle from a lobby) and fun to play, but there are not always other players online that will join the game.
