How will you contribute?


 You will be mainly in charge of:


  • Performing research, development, and innovation along the direction of the PhD research topic, with active feedback/guidance from her/his supervisor and leveraging his established expertise in the nanofabrication and nanoengineering.
  • Characterization of the Nanostructured Materials/Interfaces (geometry, physicochemical characteristics, chemical composition)
  • Continuously improving your competences within scope of the doctoral thesis work and program
  • Preparing periodic reports consisting of the experimental progress and including your own analysis for discussion with the supervisor
  • Continuously striving to bring new ideas, and to propose new experiments in support of the PhD research plan
  • Preparing presentations for internal/external dissemination (either as oral, or as poster presentations, or as demonstrations)
  • Following doctoral program diligently to ensure that the requirements for the award of the doctoral degree are adequately met
  • Ensure all information is stored and labelled in designated project folder, suitable for retrieval and use.
  • Ensure that the lab notebook is up to date, filled and signed by a witness
  • Identifying any gaps in your work/understanding to address them effectively through trainings or other measures to be taken in coordination with your thesis supervisor.
  • Ensuring Health, Safety and Environment - related instructions are followed
  • Ensuring an ethical code of conduct is always respected in workplace, and to raise issues if any to the supervisor, management, or the LIST Ethics committee.
  • Maintaining friendly and professional communications with co-workers, and external collaborating partners.

Education


  •  Master’s degree in chemistry, physics, materials science, micro/nanotechnology, or related topics.


Experience and skills


  •  Ability to take initiatives and being able to analyze her/his work critically is expected.
  •  Internship experience in one or more of the topics of surfaces, interfaces, colloids, micro/nanofabrication, and materials characterization is desired.
  •  Prior knowledge of micro and nanotechnologies, nanostructure and surface characterization principles, colloids and interfaces, and researching bibliography, acquired through prior internships or coursework is desired.
  •  Deep motivation for experimental research work is necessary, as the thesis work would involve efficiently learning a range of experimental techniques and coordinating her/his experimental work in different laboratories.


Language skills


  •  Excellent spoken, and written communication skills in English is Mandatory
  •  French Language skills are a plus

Candidates shall be available for starting their position in autumn 2024. Please note that university enrolment fees (currently 200 EUR per semester) must be covered by the successful applicant.
