⚡☀ With an installed capacity of 5.4 MWp, Rosh Pinah Solar Park (RPSP), is an embedded solar PV plant located in Rosh Pinah, Namibia which supplies electricity to Rosh Pinah Zinc Corporation (RPZC). The plant was developed, built and is operated by Emesco Energy Namibia. ✅ meteocontrol implemented a complete solution consisting of a Power Plant Controller (PPC), professional monitoring and digitalized service management through VCOM Cloud. 🗣 „meteocontrol has supported us as our trusted partner from the initial planning and concept of the plant monitoring, control and service management to the commissioning and grid feed-in. At present meteocontrol provides an important solution to manage and optimize the asset,“ says Pieter Rossouw, Director at Rosh Pinah Solar Park. 🔌The PV system will replace 30 percent of the fossil-fuel heavy energy that RPZC currently purchases from the national utility. In its first year of production, Rosh Pinah Solar Park produces 14,532 MWh (Clean Development Mechanism - Standard baseline – Grid emission factor for South African Power Pool (ASB0040-2018)) of electricity. A prime example is the Baoma Phase 1 project in Yamandu, near the Bo district in Sierra Leone. This 5.9 MWp PV project by our client ECOsys (An ITG Company) contributes approximately 15% to Sierra Leone’s total electricity generation capacity and is the first phase of a 25 MW solar PV project. 💡⚡   For the Baoma Phase 1 project, meteocontrol designed and implemented the power control and monitoring solution. ⚡ The inverter is a core component in the renewable energy sector. The term comes up again and again, but what does an inverter actually do? What does it convert? First of all: let’s not get too technical. An inverter simply converts the direct current generated by photovoltaic systems into alternating current, which can then either be fed into the public grid or used directly on site. 🔌 Next: to generate solar energy, we need modules, inverters, and a grid connection point (unless you only want to use the energy for yourself). But another crucial device is missing – the heart of the system, you could say – and that’s where the blue'Log from meteocontrol comes into play. The blue’Log serves as both a data logger and controller for PV systems, recording operating data and optimizing energy production by controlling and monitoring the various system components. The blue'Log must act as an interpreter to communicate with all the devices. 💬 Our blue'Log can communicate with nearly 4000 inverters. If your device isn’t yet compatible, we can establish compatibility in a timely manner.
