Timeline for Is my paper under review (or similar) for too long and if yes, how should I react?

To speed up the process its critical to make an enquiry here. A polite "I noticed that the paper is still in status X, suggesting that the handling editor may have not seen the assignment. I'd just like to verify that the handling editor has acknowledged the assignment, and is considering reviewers or whether to send it to reviewers?" | |

I think people should understand that being a reviewer or a Editor is kindof pretty thankless sometimes. Editors probably get paid a little bit, reviewers dont get anything, other than the fact that they can claim to be a reviewer of a journal. | |
