  • it is certainly possible to get published without an academic (or corporate) affiliation. It’s rare not because it’s impossible but rather because most people with the expertise to do so are affiliated with such organizations. After all, it takes time (usually spent during regular work hours) to actually do the research and prepare the material for publication. Commented Jun 17, 2022 at 11:57
  • @ZeroTheHero yes, in the sense that anything is in principle possible. Realistically, this can happen if you have at least once published under such an affiliation.
