During the worst storms and "atmospheric rivers" of winter of 2023, we had severe flooding in the foyer at our house. Three other representatives of waterproofing companies had come by, not to mention two contractors, and none could find the source, but each had proposed highly complex repairs of every possible surface, even remote potential sources, with costs in the many tens of thousands of dollars. Each spoke with absolute confidence that they were right. Then, Bill Nieder from The Restoration Company came by and was able not only to find the source almost immediatley but also to give a clear plan for the remedy. He was also to able to put in clear perspective what work needed to be done immediately, what needed to happen in the near and intermediate future and what could wait or was optional. The 'diagnosis' and fix he proposed worked perfectly. Our house has been completely dry ever since, and we are endlessly grateful for his help, professional, knowledge and experience.

Bill and The Restoration Company were amazing. We had a leaky old interior patio on the second floor of our home.
Bill and Inita were so easy to work with scheduling, giving us a quote, picking out the right color, and then actually doing the work.
It's been 9 months now since Bill did this job for us and our patio is still looking tip top and brand new, and with no leaks!
We're so happy we found these folks. The quality of their work, the effort put in, and final result were so so worth it. 10/10 would absolutely use them again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mary B.San Francisco, CA013Jan 11, 2023
We have one of those "interior" patio/light wells ubiquitous in the Sunset district of SF--and it leaks! We had it completely replaced about 12 years ago, and it started leaking again (right into the garage). We heard from a neighbor about The Restoration Company, and how Bill had sealed their interior patio (was also leaking) with their specialized waterproofing process, and not a drop got through afterwards. We were lucky to have Bill come over last September (2022) before the current deluge began, and he came by for a few hours every day for five days, applied several separate coatings of waterproofing materials, cleaned up every day, even painted the edging of the stucco wall where it meets the patio floor--and not a single drop of leaking through all this heavy rain and wind since then. Bill is a super-nice guy (and his wife Inita, taking calls and making appointments, is also great, responsive and a problem-solver), and very easy to talk to and communicates well at every step. The work was meticulous and looks beautiful. We've just called him back for a separate area of the house that looks like there might be a leak, and he says he can fix it! Reasonably priced for the work and especially the peace of mind. Highly recommended.

Bill is a waterproofing magician. Our front brick stairway was quite pretty to look at but also quite leaky and water would trickle into the garage storage space underneath and cause a damp, moldy mess that required dehumidifiers, DampRid buckets, etc. and sleepless nights during rainstorms. This wasn't what I would call an "exciting" house improvement project like a bathroom remodel or yard re-design but it seemed essential to keep our belongings from getting destroyed from mold and maintaining my sanity. So I called The Restoration Company after looking around on Yelp and ended up hiring them for our stair repair. Bill walked us through the process and did an incredibly thorough job sealing aaaall the little cracks. He was kind, thorough, professional and tidy. I was inspired to write this review after our recent deluge of rainfall (and I suspect many of you are now checking Yelp for waterproofing services); I anxiously went down to our garage after the atmospheric river dump fully expecting to see water still seeping into that storage space and I have to say....there was not.a.drop.of.water. Seriously, if you need waterproofing look no further, Bill is your guy. I cannot recommend The Restoration Company highly enough!

Awesome experience. Bill is great, very knowledgeable and he did great work waterproofing our front steps. I always have a lot of questions and he answered all of them. Honest and friendly to boot. Thanks Bill! :-)

Bill helped me with waterproofing a leaky center patio. His craftsmanship was top notch. He was very communicative throughout the process and also very neat taking extra care to make sure there were no supplies left around for our toddler to find. I highly recommend Bill for any waterproofing needs!

Integrity is a word that comes to mind with The Restoration Company. They walk you through their processes every step of the way and treat you with the utmost respect.
Bill is the owner of the company and you couldn't meet a nicer guy. This is a family business and they respect your family and your schedule when working at your home. They also keep your home clean during and after the process.
We live in the Inner Sunset and, like others, had a leaking Center Patio. He and his employee did a great job taking care of waterproofing our Center Patio. The floor no longer leaks and looks great.
There is only one thing that I'm not that happy with. The texture that they used is very difficult to keep clean. Keeping the Center Patio clean is very important to me. I had expressed to Bill that I didn't want the texture because it would make it very difficult to wipe or mop clean.
Bill told me that the texture was a necessary part of the process and I should just be able to spray it down with water when it gets dirty. However, the texture makes little places for dirt to collect and I can assure you that spraying it off with water does, in no way, clean it. I have to get on my hands and knees with Mr. Clean and a scrub brush to remove the dirt from the texture.
So, in a nutshell. I'm very happy with The Restoration Company and the way they treated us and the great job they did. But I'm unhappy with how difficult it now is to keep my Center Patio clean.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Steve P.San Francisco, CA04Dec 2, 2016
As good as it gets!
This is a spot on way to describe the quality of work that The Restoration Company does and the care and workmanship that Bill Neider engages in. From the initial visit to come out and assess the work i needed done to my leaking center patio and the ensuing 3day/four step process; Bills' attention to detail and obvious knowledge and grasp of what needed to be done was quite impressive. The center patio had leaked for many years and with the waterproofing done and two or more rainy seasons we no longer have to worry about moisture coming in.
His waterproofing skill demonstrated, i then hired Bill to apply his painting and waterproofing skill to the back of my house which needed a painting and sealing very badly! Over the next week he worked alone and did his magic on the rear of the house also replacing some cracked wooden flashing on an exterior bedroom window and completely sealing and sanding before applying the coats of paint. Two years later it looks as good as the day he finished!
Again being so please with his work ethic and exceptional craftmanship i hired him to to a
complete painting of the front of the house. He managed to paint it to the same colors as we originally had it and repair the ugly looking patches of stucco and a bit of metalwork that needed attention.
Nothing but good things to say about The Restoration Company and Bill Neider! He is absolutely the man to call for waterproofing needs and top quality painting. Kept me in the loop at all times regarding each job with calls ahead of time when he would be arriving or when he would be delayed. A true joy to work with!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Paula B.San Francisco, CA3325Aug 7, 2013First to Review
We have a typical SF Sunset District house with a beautiful center patio that, unfortunately, has been leaking for a few years, as center patios are wont to do. Whenever it would rain, the water would seep through the patio and down into our garage. After being paralyzed with inaction about this problem, especially after being told that it would cost $25,000 to dig up the patio, put in a new pan, etc., we decided to call The Restoration Company. Bill, the owner, had experience waterproofing ship decks, and we figured he would know what to do. And what a pleasure it was working with him! For a very reasonable cost, he assessed the situation, cleaned and primed the patio, then applied a couple of coats of an elastomeric-style product over a period of a few days (to allow things to dry in between). We then did a massive test involving plugging the drain and filling the patio with tons of water from a high-powered hose. A couple of weeks earlier, that test had resulted in waterfalls of water cascading into our garage. This time, nothing. Not a drop. Bill says the official warranty is for five years but that in his experience the waterproofing will last for 25 or 30 years. We are ecstatic! Not only that, Bill is really nice, was very sweet to our little dog, arrives when he says he's going to, and is generally a gem. I will try to remember to post a followup to this review after the winter comes and goes, just to make sure the waterproofing is still holding and no rain is getting through.
FOLLOWUP, April 5, 2014:
Well, the major rains (such as they were this winter) have come and gone, and our patio still is not leaking. No rain pouring into our garage. HOORAY! Thanks so much again to Bill at The Restoration Company!!
PAINTING UPDATE:
Later in 2014 we hired Bill to paint the outside of the house, as well as some inside doors and trim. The painting looks perfect, but more importantly, as usual Bill showed up on time (or called when he was going to be a bit late), communicated well, cleaned up beautifully after he left, and was a pleasure to work with.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
