Excelsior Roofing

We had several roofing companies come out and bid our project. Excelsior was on the higher end of the bids and they were very busy and couldn't start immediately. But there was something about their professionalism that struck us. They listened to, and addressed all of our requests, laid out the details of the project and replied in a timely manner.

They arrived at our house on time, and attacked the roof with what seemed like an army. The were incredibly polite and respectful during the project and worked super clean. They finished on time in two days and left our house as clean as when they arrived.

Had them out for a leak and they were willing to say that the roof is not the likely cause of the problem. A different roofer said the roof needs to be completely replaced.

Excelsior was very efficient and professional from start to finish. I definitely will use them again. We had maintenance work done on our 9 yr old roof. They left my property clean before leaving too.

I have a flat roof which needed to be replaced. As they opened up the roof they found a good bit of unexpected wood rot needing repair. I didn't need emergency roof work but my roof was 22 years old & I didn't want to wait for it to get older & leak. I did a lot of research regarding the different roof materials (i.e. modified bitumen, TPO, foam, etc.). & watched a lot of TikToc & YouTube videos on roofing & the difference in the materials. I received bids from all the usual suspects (Tom Lee, Advantage, Lawson, Mr. Roofer, Anderson Roofing, Sure Roofing, Redwood roofing), & Mark Powers; the owner of Excelsior was the most knowledgeable to me & Mark was a no BS kind of guy. I also had to replace 3 custom skylights & did research on manufacturers in the Bay Area & talked to Eduardo; who works with Mark, about the pro & cons of trying to replace my kitchen light skylight with one that opens again. One roofer was giving me a 100% markup on the skylights from the same manufacturer, & his cost for a modified bitumen roof were extremely marked up, so he was eliminated. After putting together an Excel spreadsheet with all the fixed and variable cost from each bid I researched the recommended approach & materials each roofer was recommending. At the end it came down to 2 roofers. I chose Excelsior because Mark knows his stuff, my last roof was tar & gravel & still had a couple of years of life in it & Excelsior still does tar & gravel. The workers completed my roof in 2 days & it was quite the production. My neighbors were quite impressed with the process. Until it rains & a few years pass I really won't know how my roof stands up but it looks great today. My brother who is an electrician & works in construction went up to look at the completed job & said it was good work. He told me, "These guys don't mess around, they know their stuff & do good work." That's another thing, Excelsior's crew are all union workers with 15+ years in the union. When it comes to your roof don't look for the best price look for the most experienced & knowledgeable roofer. That's why I selected Excelsior

Our roof was not draining water. Eduardo came out and was amazing at troubleshooting. He found the problem which was a hidden drain that could not be seen was stuck. He even found it for us. And converted a very complex problem into an instant since at 1/100th the cost. His honesty and problem solving was amazing.

A couple of years ago they installed two skylights and one copper & glass atrium cover. Great job. No water or air leaks and they look nice. Used to have louvered windows in these which were a royal pain, but the new skylights open without any junky/dirty louvers.

A few months ago they ripped out our old roof down to the deck and replaced it. Copper was used instead of galvanized metal. The team did a wonderful job. No leaks & looks gorgeous. Excelsior is professional, reliable, knowledgeable and thorough. Eduardo Franco was our very capable estimator and manager of the crew. Mark Powers was the pro arranging/scheduling from the office end. Flawless start to finish.

I just had the best experience with Excelsior Roofing. I reach out to them and got a response from Mark within an hour. I had an appointment with Eduardo Franco the next day. Eduardo showed on time and prepared. Pleasant, informative and, frankly, impressive meeting. I have a leak. Trying to buy a few years on the roof. Want sky lights. He educated me on the steps and pointed me to person to install the sky lights first. Gave me an estimate for the patch/skylight . Gave me a reasonable quote for a new roof. Based on this interaction, no need to shop around. I'll get my acted together for the skylights and have no hesitation in schedule the roof work with Excelsior.

We explored several top roofing companies in San Francisco as we had a complex roof project (tearing off 6 layers of old shingles of our 1895 house etc) and installing a new roof and I couldn't be more impressed with not only working with Mark and his patience coordinating with our HOA -and the on site professionalism of the roofers once the project began. Cannot recommend them enough for their thorough and fair initial estimate and then quickly getting us scheduled and completed the job quickly and efficiently while doing an excellent job. They made a complex project easy for us and did a great job cleaning up afterwards. Highly recommend!!

Last year during home remodel and the raining season, we identified a leak in our roof. We have an old fashioned gravel and tar roof and when started our search, we wanted a company that has experience in doing this type of roof. After doing some research we decided to go with Excelsior because based on the reviews and pictures posted, they had a lot of experience working on such roof and flat roofs and a lot of good reviews. Repair jobs usually don't have warranties but they said in case it leaks again in the same area in the upcoming raining season, they'd come back to do a free inspection. So there is some sort of guarantee on the job. We thus feel comfortable and confident about choosing them to do the job.

After setting up an appointment for a quote, Eduardo showed up on time. After inspecting the leak area, he actually proposed a solution that he's quite confident about in solving our issue without spending a lot, comparing to the other quotes I got from other roofers. We decided to go with them given their extensive experience in working on such roofs.

Mark was very easy to work with to get a job date scheduled. He's very responsive via emails. On the job day, the team showed up on time. The foreman Angel was very professional, courteous and very communicative. He talked to me about the job scope before they began and kept me posted throughout the whole process.

The job itself didn't take long. When I went up to inspect the work, they showed me a couple more holes they found and sealed. Extra bonus! What impressed me the most was the honesty of these guys. Without me bringing it up, they unanimously proposed a solution, or an additional procedure they think should be added to the work "to be more safe" for getting rid of the leak, which was also suggested by other roofers when we were getting quotes.

After bringing this to Mark's attention, he's very responsive too. I hope the work we did this month would thoroughly fix the leak problem. But in case we need to do that additional procedure later this year in case the leak comes back, Mark agreed to come out here and help us again. At least for now, with a back-up plan in mind, we can rest assured that we're taken care of. Kudos to you and the team!! Highly recommend!
