A2Z Remodeling

Completed a bathroom remodel in 2 mo beginning Jan'21. Project included converting a closet to toilet space, installing toilet w/ bidet, tub, tile, custom double vanity & proper venting / additional electric outlets.

Initial rating was 4 stars - but recently we experienced a leak in plumbing installed. Dror immediately responded & Byron came same day to fix it months after the remodel was complete. We really appreciated the customer service & guarantee of work, so am rating it 5 stars now.

What was great: Work was started & completed quickly. Quality of construction appears to be great. SF permitting process was fast. A2Z quickly facilitated an extra structural check before cutting through a ceiling joist for the toilet move. 3 of 4 the vendors A2Z recommended for us were respectful of COVID protocols; only the counter installation vendor did not show up when expected & didn't wear masks. They wore masks on return visits after talking to Dror. Custom cabinet guy Dror referred us to, Israel, was fantastic to work with. The stores they recommended (Bullnose Tile, Rubenstein Supply) were also great.

Areas of improvement: I expected more expertise in pre-planning, and better organization of the project. Ex: The list of materials to purchase was sent to us via text message, quickly buried in subsequent conversation. I created my own spreadsheet tracking all materials needed, expected delivery dates, etc. Certain issues were not proactively planned around, but were reactively solved for, that could have had a big impact on the outcome. Ex: no one raised the potentially problematic issue of cutting the ceiling joist to move the toilet until construction began, and stated we should probably get another inspector to approve the initial plan. If the city did NOT approve our plan, we could have been left in a very tough situation. They missed moving a heating vent and tried to circumvent moving it after the fact, but accommodated the change once they realized it was included in the initial contract, and it was their original oversight. Minor things like this were stressful in the moment, and could have been avoided with more thorough planning, but ultimately were fixed.

I would work with A2Z remodeling again for the quality of their construction work & service, but would recognize the heavy lifting needed to be done on my end to double check all details and ask A LOT of questions to confirm things before purchasing.

Meir went above and beyond, traveling a significant distance to assess the water damage in my kitchen. Instead of pushing for a costly overhaul like another contractor, Meir provided honest and practical recommendations that prioritized my needs. His integrity and expertise are truly commendable, even if it meant less business for A2Z.

After 20+ years in our small 2 bedroom 1 bathroom home, we decided to realize our dream of adding a second bathroom, a spa bathroom that I'd been planning in my mind for decades.

This would require digging deep into clay soil to create a new foundation that would connect to our existing crawlspace. Due to our small space we couldn't bring in heavy equipment, so whoever we hired would need to hand shovel and remove bucket-by-bucket all that dirt!

And then there were our actual plans. So many complicated details: cathedral ceilings, clerestory windows, large skylight, radiant heated floors, towel warmer, large Jacuzzi spa tub, steam room / shower, on-wall Toto toilet, too many things to mention here. We knew it was critical to work with the right builder.

We interviewed a lot of people and started thinking about bailing on the project because they were all over the place and nearly all of them just did not feel right. I was shocked how hard it was just to find someone it seemed I could trust. Whether you hire A2Z or not, I HIGHLY recommend that you set aside time to do your due diligence because construction can be one of the most stressful things you'll experience in life and I have too many friends who have had just miserable experiences with the people they hired.

The people we interviewed ranged from the amazingly expensive who also did not seem interested in our small project, to the charismatic low bidders who clearly underbid the project and planned to get their money through change orders, to a few in the "middle" range, which is where A2Z came in.

Dror was our contact and who came out to do the bid. He just felt right. You can tell he has a good heart and has a lot of experience. That was just a gut feeling at first, but it proved to be true. He is very responsive, kind, considerate, professional, and experienced. I read every review I could find here, on Angi, and elsewhere, and even researched reviews about him at a previous company years ago. All were consistently positive about him and that was both our experience and those of people we referred to him.

A2Z delivered on quality and price; we had only 1 change order and it was not their fault. Heck, they even only charged me their actual cost to do it, which I learned later is unheard of in the industry.

There were other things they did, which I also found remarkable; e.g. they did things not in our bid just to make things look even more beautiful and truly amazingly they did those at their own cost for labor and materials. One example is they extended the siding from our addition to our house rather than stopping it at the addition. They didn't ask me and paid for the materials and labor and it looks amazing, like the addition was always there. It would have been so easy to nickel and dime us on so many things, but they never did.

A2Z hires different crews for their projects and ours was run by Miguel and his crew. He and they were great, very hardworking, knowledgeable, skilled, and nice. Our project went on for many months and they were here basically every single day, advancing our project. I know so many people who hired people who start, stop, don't show up, touch some things, leave again, demand more money for supposed change orders, etc. This was NOT our experience.

There's a reason A2Z gets so many great reviews. They are an easy company to recommend, and I definitely do recommend them!

We just signed off on our home renovation and remodeling project, with our project manager from A2Z; we walked through each of the areas, and I thanked him for making this such a good experience! I came on Yelp just to let folks know they are the real deal, and I found that alot of others had the same experience!

We needed to replace large windows which failed during the last two years' storms, and we heard about A2Z from our neighbors, who were doing a full home remodel and selected them after interviewing several contractors. After meeting with Meir, their A2Z manager, we decided to do additional long needed repairs and changes, including a new roof, exterior siding, renovation of our master bedroom and bathroom, and our family room, and adding wood floors... you get the idea!

They were really accommodating to our desire to stay in our home during the remodel, even though they would be working on over half of our house. They made sure to work around our busy schedule, cleaned up after each day's work, made reasonable adjustments and accommodations as we changed our minds, always with a focus on responsible scheduling, excellent teams who worked on several areas at a time, and courteous interactions in person, on the phone, via text and email. The workers and subcontractors they found were just as good; it seems that everyone knew each other, and knew how to work together.

We had heard about other friends having lots of delays, or do overs, but that wasn't our experience. They stayed within our budget, we had one change order, because they found dry rot under our roof that would have been a hazard for our solar roof installation! They are still hard at work at our neighbor's dream home, and I can't wait to see how it will look when they are done! We are certainly blessed to be able to enjoy our own "new" home with new roof, windows, floors, spaces, and safety features.

We contracted with A2Z Remodeling to convert our unused and unfinished garage into a gym and office, with rooms to spare for storage. We could not be happier with the transformation.

While we only had a vision we had penciled out as a rough sketch, our project managers Dor Ashkar and Dror Postiner were extremely helpful in bringing our vision to life.

We were particularly impressed with the active and two-way communication that we had with the project managers, and others on the team, throughout the project. Everyone on the team was responsive, demonstrated commitment to performing high quality work, and were friendly to work with.

Throughout the project they provided thoughtful recommendations for us to consider, which added significant value to the end product. When problems did arise, they helped to identify pragmatic solutions to move the project forward.

The project scope evolved from inception to completion, and A2Z was very fair when issuing change orders. Change orders were always agreed upon in advance, and were for clear and significant changes in the project scope.

We appreciate all of the hard work the team put in to the project, and are very happy with the result.

We contacted A2Z as first-time home renovators trying to update a 100+-year-old kitchen and bathroom in an Alameda craftsman. We met Dror for the first time during our consultation and immediately knew that we were in safe and capable hands.

They were patient with us during the design process as we explored the massive inventory they had access to and weighed our options. We sometimes spent hours with their designer working and reworking floor plans, and never once felt like a burden. In fact, A2Z felt like an extension of our team and they provided sound advice on how to maximize our space.

As for the work of Dror and his team, we couldn't have been more pleased with the results. They were professional and communicative and made us feel confident throughout the process. Even when issues arose, Dror was very proactive in communicating any changes to the timeline and was available for all of our questions. Not to mention the final product took our breath away!

We worked with A2Z Remodeling (Dror, Eduardo, and crew) on a kitchen remodel and couldn't be happier with the results. We used to have a small, dark, closed off kitchen. The team removed two load bearing walls, added beams, repaired walls, painted the walls with lime wash paint, moved a laundry room, installed new cabinetry and countertops, and refinished the floors. Eduardo was the day-to-day lead of the crew and he was super detail oriented (and extremely enjoyable to work with). We didn't have any unexpected change orders and the project was more or less on time. We're extremely happy with the finished project and would highly recommend A2Z to friends and family in the future!

We just finished a kitchen project with A2Z Remodeling recently. Overall the experience was great and the new kitchen looks amazing.

We had an old kitchen from the 90s with a couple of leaks that caused us headaches big time and we finally decided to remodel and take care of all the problems once and for all. We interviewed a few remodeling companies and A2Z stood out. Dror Postiner was the one talking to us. He was honest, respectful and cared about details. They were not the lowest in quoted estimates but they seemed to know what they're doing really well, especially when compared to sales pitches we got from all the other vendors.

Dror was also our project manager through the remodeling and I have to say that the communication was excellent. Dror was timely communicating and responding to questions through emails and texts. They were transparent about their work schedule and project plans and they kept their words. The entire project was well planned and executed, no surprising changes of orders or changes of timelines. Their crews were respectful, hard working and got things done. There were many moving pieces but Dror was always on top of things, any concerns we raised about details Dror spent time to understand and made sure they were addressed to our satisfaction.

Overall it was a great experience working with A2Z and I'm glad that all my kitchen problems are now gone and we have a shiny new kitchen.

I highly recommend A2Z Remodeling. We finally tackled remodeling our bathroom that was in very sad shape in our craftsman home. Meir was our project manager and he was great to work with: he was reliable, communicative, friendly and always able to help solve whatever problems came up. It was clear he really wanted me to get what I wanted. Although the bathroom is small, we were able to maximize the space and we ended up with a beautiful new bathroom that makes me feel like I'm on vacation each morning. Hugo (who amazingly did everything: electrical, plumbing work, tile work and whatever needed to be done) and his team were quiet, reliable and hard working. They did great work and always cleaned up at the end of the day. I'm grateful to Meir and his team at A2Z and will definitely keep them in mind when I'm able to do another home project. thanks guys!

Dor and his team were outstanding, and we could not be more pleased with our kitchen renovation. Dor was prompt, highly communicative as minor issues arose (he is an excellent and effective problem-solver and project manager), calm, efficient and knowledgeable. The job began and finished on time and on budget and it is beautiful! Our 100 year old kitchen definitely had its quirks; but Dor was able to problem solve with beautiful and functional results. His suggestions (about paint color, etc) were spot-on. A shout out to Miguel and Angel as well. It is clear that this team of installers, painters and others works well together and values the needs of their clients. We highly recommend A2Z: the best contractors we have ever worked with.

Dror and his team did a great job fully renovating our bathroom. They have a talented team of workers and will make sure you're fine with all details.

Their communication is mostly through WhatsApp, so you have to be comfortable and ready to respond frequently throughout the process as communication is often last minute.

Their initial cost estimate aligned with what we paid them.
