That's why I was asking if there are motherboards that do this all on board. Do redundant PSU carriages conform to some standard? Can I use replacement PSUs for one carriage in a different one or are the always proprietary? The ones I have seen look proprietary.

Oct 9, 2015 at 17:36 comment added Mark Henderson I think you will find that this is usually abstracted away from the motherboard itself. The motherboard had standard connectors that go to some sort of multiplexer and that has the two power supplies on it.
