I have installed your theme. You do not use Playlist view, only Playlist Tabs and Tabs.

The simplest way would be just to use only Playlist view instead of Playlist Tabs. But from your comment I see that this is not your main concern.

To manage multiple playlists while displaying only one in Playlist view, you can use Playlist manager in parallel, which is just a list of playlists names.

This is not the definitive answer.

To give a definitive answer, I need to know a few more things. See below.

Also, what you want can be achieved in multiple ways. I will in the end propose different ways. See the end part of this answer.

What I need to know first is:

  • What components are present on your layout?
  • Is that image the entire layout? If not, please post a image of the entire foobar interface.

(You say: "As you can see, I'm using both the Playlist View and Playlist Tabs." But from the image it is not clear what is really there. It might be Playlist Tabs OR Playlist View. I don't see both. In any case, what is under the first tab (the first one, the one selected and visible) may also be the component Playlist View, which by itself contains no tabs. If that's the case, then it is within a component that uses tabs, which might very well be either Tabs OR Playlist Tabs: the latter wouldn't be ok; anyway, if it's one, then it's not the other.)

Without knowing these details, the problem that you describe and want to solve is still rather confusing and unclear to me. We have to clarify what is happening and what you want it to happen. To clarify, I say better to leave aside the use of the windows file manager for example and concentrate only on the foobar components for the moment. You talk about the use of playlists, and playlists tabs, but I only see one playlist and other tabs with some library components that I cannot identify for now.

A good way to make it all clear to me would be to export your theme (Files>Preferences>Display>Default user interface>Export theme) and send it to me (upload it on Dropbox or something). Then I can test it, verify your problem and propose alternatives.

Below are some general explanations.

Foobar2000 default interface is so versatile that you can play with it by going to View>Layout>Enable layout editing mode. There you can see what components you have already on your layout and what others can be used. When layout editing mode is enabled, you can right-click a component and create, cut, copy, replace it, etc. Only take care when right clicking to see what component or part of it is selected. Backup theme before changing.

Both 'Tabs' and 'Playlist Tabs' are UI elements listed under Containers section, while 'Playlist View' is listed under Playlist Renderers section..

'Tabs' is a container for any other UI element (including 'Tabs' itself; you may be using Tabs already with first tab taken by the Playlist View, but I am not sure). So, other UI elements can be added inside Tabs, that is each in a separate tab. There is no limit to the number of tabs/components that can be added in this way.

enter image description here

'Playlist Tabs' is a way of having multiple playlists in separate tabs (and as such it should only involve playlists: I tested that under 'playlist tabs' one can add other components, but that is a bug I guess.) As it is described,, this component is intended to be used inside another UI component (that is, other components should not be used inside it).

enter image description here

'Playlist View' component just displays the "active" playlist. That doesn't always mean the now-playing playlist: as stated in my question that you commented, when used along Playlist Tabs, the tab/playlist selected in Playlist Tabs will appear under Playlist View even when it is not playing. (So, another reason for you to remove Playlist Tabs.) (Also, when using the 'Playlist manager' component, one-click selection of a playlist in its list will keep showing the now-playing one in 'Playlist View'; but a double-click selection will switch 'Playlist View' to the selected playlist.)

enter image description here

There are too many different ways to achieve your goal. I can think of a few. Can you edit the layout? An idea would be to separate the layout in different areas by adding splitters. Then, in the separate areas, add the components that you want. In this way you will see at the same time the playlist and the library, or whatever you want. You can even use tabs in one of these areas.

As an example see the theme that I uploaded here. It looks like so (the names of the components are superposed in red):

enter image description here

If you don't know/want to edit the layout yourself, you can install the above theme by downloading it and then Files>Preferences>Display>Default user interface>Import theme.

The simplest way would be just to use only Playlist view. But I understand you also need access to the library. But there are multiple components to access the library. Some are not installed by default, like the one that I prefer, called 'Facets'.

As main advice I would say remove Playlist Tabs. as you say that you only need one single playlist anyway instead of Playlist Tabs.
